    I have lived in both countries. I am confident to affirm that in several geographic areas and in many fields of medicine, Mexico is better than USA. I remember that some MD's in my hometown in central Mexico used to travel to Houston to perform surgeries and then come back to Mexico. USA may have better and more modern technology but overall the healthcare system in Mexico is better than the healthcare system in USA.

    It's so sad that Americans have to go elsewhere to get better Healthcare because of how bad it's Healthcare system is. Dental over at Mexico is cheaper especially for braces, medicine is more potent there and actually treat symptoms better for cold symptoms, and some medical exams like mri scans cost less like around 300 in another country don't remember which one. In Canada a box of insulin cost 20 bucks compared to 300 in the US.

    At least he's able to receive treatment in the States. My referral physician won't see me when using my insurance plan. In fact, based on my understanding of my situation from my primary care physician, the referral physician may not see me regardless (plan or full pay out-of-pocket). I'm in California, so am considering buying a Mexico non-resident med. plan. I could pay full price out-of-pocket for treatment here, but can't afford it. Luckily my med. problem isn't terminal, as far as I know.

    Health care is cheap in here but state needs funds from worker's payrolls (along with taxes) to financiate it, so socialism may be good, may not.
    That is for public hospitals but private hospitals rates are adjusted to those mexican payrolls

    How do we separate the reputable clinics from the scam artists?

    • @balamstudios
      @balamstudios 6 лет назад +7

      Easy, check out the registration numbers of the clinics, there must be various for starters and to ensure it the clinic should be affiliated with ISSSTE or IMSS (the state healthcare systems)

    India has gained a lot of attention globally for its Medical Tourism. According to various study, treatment costs in India start at around one-tenth of the price of comparable treatment in the United States or the United Kingdom.

      Every Year Millions and Millions of Patients and their Families from Abroad Travel in India to get Medical Treatments and Surgeries. In 2016, citizens of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Maldives, Republic of Korea and Nigeria availed maximum number of Medical Visas. Bangladeshis and Afghans accounted for 34 per cent of foreign patients, the maximum share, primarily due to their close proximity with India and poor healthcare infrastructure. Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) accounted for 30 per cent share of foreign medical tourist arrivals.

      “Traditional sources has been geographies like SAARC (Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Pakistan )countries, Middle East (Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq) , CIS (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine) and Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Congo). Also these travellers come for specific treatments in India. Some of the popular treatments are Orthopaedics (knee and hip replacements), Cardiac (angioplasty and CABG) Spine surgeries, Oncology treatment ,Urology procedures, gastro procedures ,transplants and cosmetic surgeries including bariatric and metabolic surgeries.”

      The heavily subsidized treatment costs are a big reason why people are considering travelling abroad to avail the best medical facilities at only a fraction of what they have to pay in their home countries. Countries like India are able to afford world class medical care at hugely discounted rates, thanks to the low cost of infrastructure and the ever lower doctor-patient ratio.
      As per a cost comparison study by the American Medical Association, a knee replacement surgery will cost $40,000 in US, $10,000 in Thailand and $13,000 in Singapore, but $8500 in India. Similarly, in the US for a bone marrow transplant you will have to pay around $400,000, in UK $150,000 but in India it will cost just $30,000. No matter what treatment you opt for, you are going to save around 70-75 percent of the total cost including health or medical services, wellness travel, accommodation and food services.

      There has been medical tourism for years, but only recently have this scammers come up. The worse it gets for USA's healthcare the better for business in this regard, its also the reason while illegal inmigration from USA to Mexico has been happening a lot too, more so with their elderly.
