    thorough job as usual, Nick! This is ‘the way’ for someone researching noiseless or noise-reduced p90’s

      Thanks for watching. I appreciate ya 🙏🏻 This approach can be a little clinical but it's helpful for me to learn and analyze the pickups like this. And most people leaving comments seem to find it helpful too. I just wish I had imported a little piece of the noise from the stock Gibson pickup. I've already got a Demarzio Fantom P90 ordered for my next round of tests. They have a cool proprietary design too, that uses 4 coils instead of 2. I'll be sure to import the Gibson pickup noise for the next comparison.

    I put the MojoTone 56 in my new LP jr. Sounds fantastic in my opinion running through my Fractal FM3 direct and my Friedman amps

    I liked the tone of Mojotone better in every example, but the additional noise of it is really hard to ignore. Thank you for being so thorough in your comparisons. One day I will put a noise reduced pickup in my LP Jr.

      @@craftwiser thanks for watching 🙌🏻 My only regret is, I should have imported a section of noise from the original Gibson pickup. Just to provide some context to how quiet the Mojotone actually is. To be completely fair, it might be worth checking my other video out. I did the same kinda noise comparison using the stock Gibson pickup, the Mojotone and the Fralin. Since the Fralin and Lollar have similar very low noise levels, it's still a fair comparison IMHO. You can use the chapters to skip right to the noise comparisons

      @@TheSoundCoop I watched your other comparison video when it came out. I find the noise in the Gibson pickup all most unruly in some live situations where the venue has dirty power and an elaborate light system.

    Love it!! What I absolutely enjoyed was the waveform analysis. I know, in the end it’s really about what our ears are telling us, but in something like this; a signal analysis comparison with the waveform and the dB references were a smart move! 👍🤘🏻

      @@Gaslight.Guitar I think I'm gonna be stuck with it in my Murphy Junior for a while, and I'm not even sad about it. I've been using it for lots of writing and recording over the last few months and it's killer both in the studio and out. No vibes lost compared to the stock Gibson pickup and way less noise. I was instantly a Mojotone fan. I really wanna try some of the Quietcoil Strat pickups. Maybe after I'm done with all these P90 shootouts 🤣🤷

    awesome comparison. im a single coil guy who likes that edge of breakup "post punk" sound and love p90's but as soon as i loose that clarity i am disappointed (for me it's essential for post punk angst). i guess the noise is just part of it, like j mascis says you just have to keep playing but with computers all around it is tough to manage. Mojo's for me

      One of my favorite things about RUclips is learning about new things in the comments section. I'd never seen these pickups before and they look super cool. Looks like it's a single coil and a P90 attached that'll mount in a humbucker route. I'm definitely going to dig into these a little bit. I really appreciate you bringing this to my attention. This is awesome, i was just looking at a pup change , you should check out the jared james p90 next and let us know , the mojo tone sounds good btw an aspect of how a single pup guitar works is how it acts when you change the knobs so you should do an example where you play and change the knobs at diffrent volumes on the two guitars you have like 5 or 7 or 10 etc , but i appreciate this format too , great job

      @@Cystemx Oh, ok. I gotcha. I'm glad you're feeling in the ballpark tone wise. Testing different P90s for this guitar has really shattered my illusions of how different various P90's sound from one another. I've heard people rave for years about noiseless pickups not sounding like the non noiseless counterparts. Based on my test, the tone of the stock Gibson pickup and this Mojotone '56 QC was so close, it's not even worth arguing about it. The only noticeable difference was the massive drop in noise from the Mojotone.
      Even with the differences in tone between the Mojotone and the Lollar, I don't think I could pick it out in a full band mix even if it was just 1 guitar part. I'm looking forward testing more pickups. But I'm almost wondering if I'm eventually gonna realize that P90s mostly just sound like P90s. Give or take 5-10%. At least that's my current intuition. Time will tell

    I recently bought a new Gibson LP Deluxe gold top and replaced the mini humbuckers with a set of the Mojotone Quiet Coil P90’s since they are the same size as minis. I have another Deluxe with mini hums because they are awesome pickups as well. The Mojotones sound amazing to me. They are fairly quiet, but I tend to get a lot of interference or something (not sure of the cause) on a number of my guitars with humbuckers. Weird thing is the noise is mostly non-existent on my budget priced guitars. It’s only my American made Gibsons and Heritage that exhibit the noise. If anyone could tell me why I would be very appreciative. I have tested the grounding on the guitars and my electrical wiring. I have read one theory that it’s the nitro lacquer finish vs. the poly finish on the budget ones. Anyone else heard of this?

    • @TheSoundCoop
      @TheSoundCoop  Месяц назад

      What does the interference sound like? Any chance you have a clip where I can hear the noise? Setting aside grounding issues. LED lights can cause problems. Having your cell phone in your pocket can cause problems. Or having devices in proximity that are sending information via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth could be a problem.

      Haha. This is a good point. I guess G&L doesn't put it in a P90 shell so never thought about it like that. But kinda assuming Lollar can do this because G&L has no copyright. Probably because it's all still a PBass rip off 🤣
