thanks, I just cant get the hype around PB. They play with that horribly sounding plastic ball which induces zero skills, one can just play this version of tennis in a smaller court with arguably better strokes and a nicer sound experience.@@touchtennis
@@iceman1125 yeah when I started this in my garden it was 2002. 56k modem so internet wasn’t really a thing. Had never heard of pickleball! I just loved tennis and wanted a street version like the old Agassi Sampras advert from Times Square!
Congrats on the win! I’ve heard of touch tennis before have never actually seen it until this video. It looks lots of fun! Would love to give it a try.
I enjoyed that - well done for the win! I hesitate to say, but the celebrity looks like Miranda Hart, who I believe isn't especially famous for tennis prowess...?!
The Pickleball players are taking over our courts here in the US , but this game looks like a respectable version of Tennis that I'd enjoy trying.... glad to see my new Coach (well online only sadly) kick butt!!!!
Looks really fun to play 🎉 Thanks for uploading this interesting video 🙂 What size of racket do you use? Are there special balls for touch tennis? Keep on the good work 💪 All the best
Ive never heard of this concept very interesting hybrid of Tennis , well done on your win and giving the proceedings to charity . Who's the celebrity I haven't a clue !!!!
Wow just discovered this sport. As Im a massive tennis fan, I love playing with tennis foam balls.Use to do this here in our street sometimes against wall. This sport is so cool! Here in Germany almost nobody knows it. But you can use a regular tennis racket? Small regular tennis racket?
Hey Tim, it’s great fun! You can use any 21inch racket but the key is using the official touchtennis ball (this is what makes the rallies look and feel like tennis. Normal foam balls travel too slowly and don’t really react to spins.
My humble guess is "no". Too much movement and technique required in touch tennis compared to pickleball and so not so much fun for a non tennis player / average person to play from scratch.
@@YesSirPhil As a tennis coach I assumed so. I would say a majority of high level tennis players enjoy trying versions of “mini tennis” because the skills transfer so well.
Great video! Ashley, please can you do a video on grips, strings and stringing for touch tennis? I have a couple of 21" rackets, and they don't have wider grommets in the right place for 2 piece stringing. Thanks mate!
The ball is specific to touchtennis and is what makes it great. It’s a foam ball that’s more dense and heavy than normal foam balls, allowing you to hit pretty hard, rip topspin, slice, kick serves etc.
@@TheTennisMentor cool. I remember in another vid you mentioned giving up your sponsors so you could try other stuff. Thought it was only rackets but I guess shoes and apparel too
this looks so much fun than that absolute monstrosity of a game called pickleball
Sadly we can only like this comment once! 😂
It’s crazy because one can argue that this games is faster paced than even tennis

yeah smaller court you can be quicker if the ball allows it, the same with ping pong and squash@@rafifmuhammad5713

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks! Although it’s not what she’s famous for, she can certainly play!!

touchtennis is doing well in the US, you may have a club near you
@@bengray5013 Pickleball is taking over in Santa Barbara, CA and unfortunately no Touchtennis.
So this is how John Isner feels like when he’s on an actual tennis court. Lol
Brilliant summary of a fun night. Great to have you back on tour mate.
The pleasure was all mine!!
Rather do this than pickleball- so much more variety and complexity.
Yes… It feels like tennis and it can genuinely help your game!
This looks like the most fun game on earth
Special Guest is Miranda Hart?! The crossover I never knew I needed
Yes! I know, right?!!
Amazing Video! Geogre Ellis is a couch at my Tennis Club!
Nice! He had a tough draw!

Thanks for watching! Yes, 21inch rackets and the ball is called a touchtennis ball (you can buy them online)

Felix Mischker should play touchtennis!
What is the purpose of the red lines ?
The school uses the courts for badminton as well
I hope you will play more tournaments in the future
way better than pickleball
So is log throwing! You’re not setting the bar very high for us! 😂
I live in the US and wish touch tennis was spreading in popularity instead of pickleball. It seems as though this sport is strictly played in the Uk?
Special guest was Miranda
Watching this really makes me wanna get back on the touchtennis court...
What are you waiting for?!
Why does your thumbnail pic remind me of bjorn borg🤔😀

I have never seen touch tennis before, I wish you the best, but these courts look like the Smurfs tennis courts. Great job on the match Coach.
If you saw the school hall before we renovated it for them, it was a psychedelic nightmare!

So many varient, touch tennis, soft tennis and pickleball
You’re right… I guess each fits a different type of person?
Well played.
Thanks William
Great playing! Heads up, you're foot faulting on a couple of your serves.
Oh thanks… I’ll watch it back!
Do you competitive Touchtennis guys put poly strings on your racquets?, are all 21 inch racquets good or are some better than others?
Personally, I just use factory strings, however some of the players are more fussy… @rashidahmad69 is the best man to ask for advice!
I use natural gut in the mains. Standard strings are good for most players. The G.O.A.T racquets all come incredibly well strung out of the factory.
Tennis with racketball rackets? I thought touch tennis was going to be like tag team tennis, touch your teammate and continue the point.
No, they're Junior 21" Tennis rackets, you can use any brand and model you want, as long as it's no longer than 21"
Tag team tennis is also great fun… we play this game on our coaching programme (great for teamwork and tactics!)
@@level27xrock what kind of balls are they?

Does Touch Tennis have its own body like a Federation/Association?
Yes, you can find out about it at touchtennis.com. Which country are you in?
Yes!
