  • Winter is a fact of life in Saskatoon and after a snowfall, getting around can be a problem. Crews work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to plow and sand roads based on weather conditions, safety considerations, and the priority of the roadway. Watch for information on the work underway during and immediately following a major snow event. And "snow" what to do to keep your sidewalk safe.

    Hi I’m new to your channel and I live here in Saskatoon question in the last video you said the city has 16 graders and 7 loaders how many graders. And wheel loaders do they have now just wondering because I’m a big fan of there equipment and I have been watching them every single winter ever since 2007 and i did had a tour at there yards back then I hope this not too much but just wondering from Warren 🙂

      Hi Warren. Thanks for the question! Our Roadways team says we still have 16 graders and now have 6 loaders. We use lots of other equipment as well to perform winter maintenance as well as support from contractors.

    Snow removal here in Saskatoon is a joke, just like our rutted up potholey, patchy roads in the summer.

    Why did saskatchewan make it a law that all snow removal vehicles need the orange and blue lights? (I live in saskatoon)

    • @saskatooncitynews
      @saskatooncitynews  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Brayden. Thank you for the inquiry. in November 2016, the City outfitted all its high-speed winter maintenance equipment with flashing blue and amber lights to be consistent with highway operations and other municipalities across the country. Standard warning signals are a critical element of a safe operation, as driver confusion can result in unexpected or dangerous reactions.

      City of Saskatoon Why don't snow plows plow cresents? When it snows lots there's people that live in cresents that can't even get out of they're driveway. Please think about sending plows through cresents.

      Hi Brayden, the snow removal budget, which is approved by City Council, does not cover city-wide snow removal on all residential streets. We have a Priority network that includes streets that fall under Priority 1, 2 and 3 categories. More information is available at Saskatoon.ca/snow. However, if you encounter a road that's problematic, we still encourage citizens to call our 24/7 Customer Service Centre to find out if a Roadways crew can be dispatched to that spot. The number is 306-975-2476.

    Anyone who wanna help me?
    I am writing a book (fiction) that mainly takes place in Saskatoon, although I don't want all fiction. Weather, streets and some places I want to keep real. My first book in my series begin to take place October 17 2011.
    Why is it so hard to find old weather reports about Saskatoon?
