We now have a breath of fresh air politically, which is what this country has been crying out for. The grown ups are now back in the room, and maybe we can get on with the business of getting this country back on track and back on it's feet. People need to realise that there are some decisions ahead that are not going to be popular but have to be made. Starmer and his team have got a hell of a lot of work to do to clean up the mess left behind by the inept and incompetent. But I remain hopeful that we , as a nation will get there. The results on Thursday night as they came in gave us hope for a better future.

After the appointment I heard a bit of James Timpson talking about his life and business ideas and my jaw almost dropped. A company leader who firmly believes that the company performs better when the staff is happy, enthused and well looked after. Who employs people out of prison and goes around to the stores personally to serve some customers, check the figures and then ask the staff if there’s any problems they think need fixing. He seeks to give opportunities to people our of foster care because his family fostered a vast number of children whilst he was growing up.
Frankly the more his ideas can be given a platform and influence the better

I have to say that Nadine was great entertainment on C4's election night broadcast and not in a good way. She was eviscerated by Alistair Campbell at every opportunity and completely humiliated herself. At one point she even tried to claim that Eton boy Boris had grown up in a slum and had it hard, so therefore he could empathise with the plebs unlike Rishi Sunak. It was quite excruciating

I have always wanted more experts in government, instead of carpetbagging MPs like Suella Braverman or Liz Truss. Much like David Cameron, being appointed to the Lords to join the government means you don’t need to worry about the normal duties of a constituency MP. They can put all of their effort into the ministerial brief.

I've thought for some time that the current situation is a close parallel to the situation during WWII, when it was absolutely vital that *competent and capable* people were appointed to ministerial posts irrespective of their precise political stance because the country's survival depended upon it.
What we've seen under the last government has been the opposite of that, where some of the most unsuitable people have been appointed to important positions simply because they were cronies or allies of whoever happened to be Prime Minister at that moment, or to appease noisy sections of the Conservative Party. Incompetence and/or incapability were no bar to high office.
Thankfully, Kier Starmer's cabinet appears to be a group we can get behind and trust to do their jobs with ability and integrity, and hopefully the press will have the good grace to let them get on with it.

Good grace from the MSM? Fat chance! Foreign & non-dom ownership of media outlets needs ending. There needs to be a crime of lying to the public rigorously prosecuted by Starmer's old office, Public Prosecutions. Also the Cliveden set will be back all too soon unless they are hit hard & repeatedly while they are down. Bonds need to be used to fund the immediate renationalisation of utilities, railways & buses. See what Nellie the effluent, Braverman, Bad Enoch, BoJo et al would make of that... The '45 government showed how to do nationalisation: the question is has this lot got the balls or are they just another bunch of slightly pinker tories?
