I learn more about it every day, but a lesson that's been really close to me this year is how to grieve. It's a tough learning curve to really embrace both your life and your grief, and to share your feelings with those around you (death is so stigmatised in the west!), but it's spaces like yours that really help get me out of a darker headspace when I retreat to online spaces rather than facing life. Hi Jade! Like you, one of the things that brings me the most joy in life is learning. And if learning is amazing, the idea of being able to contribute with my work to expanding the frontiers of human knowledge or just creating something of value for the world with that knowledge is even more amazing!! So much so that learning and working have become a part of my identity and a reason why I feel valuable. In the past year, since I graduated, life has taught me how unrealistic and dangerous this view of myself is and how fragile I am because of it. If my value is connected to my work, who am I if I'm not enjoying my current job? Who am I if I don't know what I want to work in? Am I just not trying hard enough? Am I just lazy? And what if there are other things in life that now bring as much joy as learning did? And what if sometimes I now enjoy these other things more than I enjoy learning? Am I just getting distracted from my life's mission? Who am I if I am not the girl who's always learning and working? I have come to realize that life is the journey and the end in itself. That working in something you are interested in can be incredibly rewarding, but if you don't know what you want to do right now, it's fine too. That just means that at this point in your life, instead of stressing about how you have less value because you are not finding joy and fulfillment in working, you should be learning, exploring, having new experiences that can bring you in contact with the things this world has to offer. And in the process, there may appear things that really spark your interest, that you will really want to think about, and maybe you will find other people who also want to think about those things, and if you are lucky, society may even pay you to think about those things! And if you never find something, that is fine too. There's no pressure. Meaning in life doesn't come from your work; it comes from life itself. From living. From doing the things that you want to do. Not the things you should be doing. So what I have learned in the past year is: life should be about you pursuing the things that really, really make you tick. To find the things that really make you tick, you must have space in your life to explore the world and yourself so that you create opportunities to come in contact with things that may spark your interest. To open this space in your life and be able to think freely, you must let go of the things you think you should be doing and being but, in reality, are not who you are or what you want to do. To identify what these things are, you must understand yourself, your upbringing, and the culture you were raised in well enough to be able to discern your true callings from your learned callings. Then, just understand there isn't any inherent greater meaning in life besides living life the way you want. The way that makes you happy. The way that you feel is in alignment with yourself. Strive to be authentic.
I have learned that you have to accept that people go and you have to let them go in order to let new people into your life it is impossible to keep everyone close to you throughout your whole life. 🌍
I have learned video editing and I edit videos for one of my best friend she's a small beginning youtuber 💗✨I know it's not like she has million subs or anything but I make quite a bit of money for myself
Getting bullied sometimes as a child and being body shamed for being too big for my age only because I reached puberty sooner, taught me so much about being kind with people, because I didn't want anyone to feel sad in that same way. This turned out to be such a blessing and that kindness became the most important part of my character and it's a light I carry with myself everywhere❤
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for choosing to learn love and compassion from such dark times in your life. I'm very sure that other people would come out of that experience with different reflections, so this is a testament to your wonderful mindset 🦋
Grief and loss has taught me so much about life, losing someone so important and having to find a reason to continue, losing yourself with them and having to find a new version of yourself. Death is such a central part of life but it’s also so difficult to grasp and understand. I feel like I’ve completely lost the version of myself I was before but I’m also proud of who I am now❤
This is so important. I have learned that, too. And I am trying to accept death as the natural thing it is. It is talked not enough about the fact that everything is temporary. Being grateful for every connection before it ends is key and then being open again to let new love in is so hard but so important. You are not alone with this ❤

I’ve spent first years of my adult life self-educating, so when I finally got into university of my dreams, it seemed just like extension of self learning. It was hard to see how my mates were terrified with grades and exams, they were learning only what they are supposed to learn. I never regret ignoring classes I wasn’t interested in and which didn’t lead me to my goal. So if you tend to be stressed out during exam season, I would suggest thinking of university as of additional tool, which you have chosen. It is not your duty to your country or your parents to follow the curriculum strictly. Build your own study plan 🌿

@@alessiabognolo7662 I would reccomend to create an enviroment which can help you to figure it out (for example, i started volonteering at an educational progect), or you can find a "study buddy" on internet to encourage each other. I also didn't have clear idea about future, so I just tried everithing ending up in languages and ancient history. Maybe you can start with just one thing? A language or a biology class)
I'm a uni student in South Korea. I often catch myself feeling barred from the freedom of my own thoughts because of the conventional way of life and the way of thinking that people around me. The videos you share give me a spark though, and it helps me keep loving life even when it's hard to. Like come on!! Learner for life sounds like an amazing thing to be💓💓
Struggling with depression taught me a lot about the preciousness of little moments in life, enjoying a good book, being myself, not being ashamed for that. I am definitely not grateful for the terrible moments I had with my mental health, but I learned the importance of casual magic in a way that I never would in school.
even though i will be entering grade 9 this year..i already feel that I WANT to keep learning more,be it getting good grades,doing debates..it was everything which I did last year and I was so happy and grateful even though it was my school that introduced me to it..i still feel so many of these things are not taught to us..i am a hardworker even though I am not someone who is born talented but I still feel that living life is the most important cause at the end of day it is you and your memories!..Love from India jade!

I have learned that I can do hard things. I have learned that I actually am not shy, just an introvert. I have learned that I will inevitably get (and already have) some of my mother's traits and that I need to start loving them. I have learned that I need to truly appreciate and somehow preserve moments spent with my grandma. I have learned that I don't have to get it right the first time, ever, and actually learn more from not getting things right the 1st time. I have learned that nobody is going to force me to work on my dreams and that if I don't put in the actual work I will stay in the same place forever. I have learned that I love to make my friends feel loved by giving them a well-thought-out meaningful gift. It has been a great year.

I'm a maths teacher nowadays so a large chunk of my learning outside of school takes place in a school which is odd. I spent my training year loving it but wondering how on earth you get kids to do things for themselves. I see students deprived of any role model in their life and find it more natural to truant lessons on their own and not socialise during breaks and lunch. I think to my own life and how loosely I hold it together at my worst times and how relatable some of my students' struggles are. We feel the need to be strong for our classes but this clearly alienates . I was asked at an education seminar "what is the minimum standard of maths skills you want students to exit your school with?" and I honestly think I'd rather my former students have a concept of accepting challenge and setback over the slightest concept of number. I believe schools should be teaching subjects as a medium to understand this abstract concept. I get the question "when will I use this?" a lot and I almost always get classes to pack up 5 mins early to chat about what they think they're in school for. I tell them how ridiculous must it be to go to a school and learnt a vast array of facts and skills over 18 years, just in case you use it in a career but nearly all of them think this is the purpose of it. It's about learning to learn and it's not always academic.
Learning is a never ending journey, I've been through a lot but still yet to fully discover myself. I'm trying to build the confidence, equanimity and the resources to discover this world one day. Thanks Jade for your infectious positive attitude 🌍
I’ve always been a good student in school. This year i just entered my dream university and it’s been a real challenge, because even if my grades are not bad, they are average if not underaverage compared to other students. It’s been really hard and i am still truggling to gain my confidence back. But this made me realize that i was defining my worth based on my grades and my academic level my whole life, and now that i am confronted to other people that are smart or even smarter than me, i suddenly have nothing else to be proud of. Your grades don’t define you, and school is not everything. This video comes out with perfect timing as i am trying to figure myself out, to prove to myself that i am much more than just a note on a paper. If anyone else is struggling with this feeling, know that you are not alone and you got this. Keep studying and give your best, but don’t forget that you are not only a student but also a person with feelings opinions, hobbies and it’s the mix of all of this that really defines who you are. Don’t neglect that part of yourself

The bias in uk history education is so so real. The way we learn so much about world war 1 & 2 and Britain’s success , yet seem to hear nothing about Britains colonising history.

I'm a high school student who will be graduating in june 2024. Probably how to handle failure. School in the UK only gives a few snapshot opportunities to experience failure, but life gives you endless rapid fire opportunities to fail and process each lesson at your own pace. Great video, Jade, thanks for sharing!
Traveling and experiencing other systems open your eyes to other paths and ways of approaching life. One thing I didnt learn in school but now in my volunteering year in Bosnia and Hercegowina is that there is no one true life interpretation, there is littereally no truth (and that is said by me as someone who grew up christian and still is). I talked with many of my muslim colleques here who all have different life views. And all of them believe they leased the truth. It really cleared my eyes that the majority of people on this earth are so convinced about their religion, world view etc. without taking into record that they themself are only shaped by their experiences and environment and this is why their world view is so small. I learned to accept the failure of human beings, that we will always have to reflect us and our environment. So dont force your world view on thers, be curious in different cultures, spread love and acceptance! Love from Germany❤

Being diagnosted with a chronic illness, and spending time only by myself in the hospital really opened my eyes. Yes, I know, not really a pleasant experience, yet it was the only thing that helped me to rebuild the relationship with I had with myself, and eventually fall in love with myself. By this I don’t mean that everyone should go through the same thing as me! All I’m trying to say, that spending time alone teaches you so much, more than you think. It teaches you about yourself, it makes you get to know yourself. Because without having a positive relationship with ourselves, we can’t really love anything else.

This video was so inspiring as always 💗 It really encouraged me to learn more outside of school, especially now that I’m at university and don’t have as much diverse subjects… One thing that I learnt outside of school is to accept fully the body I live in🤍 Also, it can seem stupid in comparison but the way we’re taught languages at school is just barely teaching us anything, that’s why I actually almost entirely taught myself English thanks to the different resources on the internet, which motivated me to learn even more languages!

I can't believe that the topic of colonialism is not covered in schools!!!!! I am glad that you've taken the initiative to self-educate. As a Palestinian, the impact of colonialism on my ancestors' lives and, undoubtedly, on my own, is a stark reality. The "balfour declaration", with its far-reaching consequences, is a prime example.

omg i love that you mention routine vs clubbing, i recently felt stuck into giving myself the identity that Yes i’m productive, rountine-based, study, workout all that stuff. And i enjoyed that in one moment but i felt like i blocked myself from other things, like going to a party sometimes or drinking. But i dont want to stop myself from doing anything if it’s not excessive and im okay with it

Great video! I just have something to say… I think sometimes, when you say Britain, you most likely mean England. For instance, when you mention Britain destroying languages, I think it’s important to note that that’s what England tried to do with Welsh therefore you can’t always encompass Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and England. I know you were talking about Britain’s colonisation but this is something I’ve noticed with lots of people when discussing history or education systems. I loved your take on travelling, after a year abroad, I completely agree. It made me realise a lot about national identity which is most probably why I’m aware of how unfortunately, Britain and England are synonymous for a lot of people which sometimes feels as if the other countries in Great Britain have their identity and culture misinterpreted which is difficult.
I've learned more things from life than in formal school, I dig deeper inside myself, and now more about my personality, memories and attachment style. I've learned so many social skills. further than, I questions about alot of philosophical approach especially that relate to religion and faith, and definitely school can't help me to answer these questions

Hi Jade x one thing I learned outside of school is resilience and how to bounce back from past experiences. It is not a thing that is usually done inside the classroom, and it did take me a while to get used to. In the long term however, it benefitted me so much! I love your content so much, as I can relate to it. I loved school so so much, but you were quite restricted on what you did learn, not learning about creativity, expressing yourself etc. I can see where you come from in this video, and I am very sure other people see it too.
I’ve learned that I don’t need to be friends with everyone, not everyone will like you and that’s totally fine. No one’s defined by other’s opinions of them
Yaay and when you will be friends with everyone you will slowly convert into a people pleaser and that can cause us to loose your identity. And when those people leave, it can give mental breakdown.
Hi Jade! Thank you for making these amazing videos. I have learned that being myself is worth more than anything. You do not need to behave a certain way for people to like you. You do you, and the people who matter love you the way you are. After watching your videos on topics about meditation, I started taking meditation seriously, and it has helped me so much in processing my thoughts and becoming a better person. It helps in clearing the mind. It kind of works like a reset button for me. So thank you so much for these videos, I really really appreciate you taking up topics that we usually do not give a lot of thought to but are very important, and these videos feed our thoughts.

i did learned something outside of school is that self-trust and how to forgive ourselves. bcuz school curriculum is more likely to push us getting a good grade in exam and determine our value by those numbers and ABCD. while I participated some event and self volunteer activities, i felt everyone in this planet have their own role on some extent, everyone is special.🎉 just don’t look down urself and remember, we are already good enough with just living in this earth ❤

Ourselves are not permanent, all of us flow in diferents contexts and times.
One more thing I learned from school of life is that don't ever, in any circumstance pick up a call from unknown number. That's how you get scammed. Be safe out there guys. If you don't have a contact saved in your phone then its not important enough and if its important then people will email you or text you. DON'T PICK UP CALLS FROM UNKNOWN NUMBER.

I’m a high schooler and I’ve done a summer abroad and am coming up on my academic year abroad. No, my parents didn’t pay a penny for it. I found scholarship opportunities and truly applied myself and learned Russian and stayed with a host family. There are opportunities!!! Even if you aren’t even an adult yet. Btw I went abroad on the NSLIY scholarship. Highly recommend, also FLEX and YES
Things I learned outside school: - It's okay to have a dark side. That makes you human. - There are lots of kinds of personalities, brains, bodytypes, family structures, aesthetics, ideologys and there is not a right one - 80% percent of my english - What I like to do and what I'd like to be - That I have ADHD why that makes me different but valid. - Life is hard but I can manifest a better one - Being productive isn't the goal. And I can be productive without looking productive and viceversa - Gratitude is the key to happiness - etc Most of these have come to me from myself or close ones, but the internet has been a great channel to learn discover and learn more about all these things. I haven't had the chance to travel a lot yet, but I'm grateful for being able to listen to people like you

I learned more from working than I did in school. It taught me that I can be a confident person, I can be a leader, I can be part of a team, I have good ideas and that I'm not shy, just introverted. I learnt that my work ethic was not just limited to school either.
Jade, I did not learn much history at school when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s and early 1990s. I just did Canadian history such as Native Indians and politics and that was it. I did not do World History. I also did very little Science which was mostly biology and hardly any Physics nor Chemistry. I did very little math, but only Business Math and Arithmetic, but not Calculus, Finite, Algebra & Geometry nor Statistics. I learnt World History, Science, and Mathematics mostly through travelling and watching documentaries and reading books at home.
I learned that probably there is a God that is good, inherently good, and one can search him and discover that. Still, I also learned that because there are SO many people in this world, the whole religion / religions thing can be quite confusing and make you want to look away from this beauty... Actually, I really love this process I'm currently in, even though it feels hard at times (to get to know "the truth" in midst of so many truths...)
When I was a teenager, I wasn't cute or appealing to guys so me and my best friends became crazy over one direction. Now I see that was a way to imaginate a boy, a crush, an romantic relationship since I didnt had one irl. That made me learn SO MUCH english, like, I am not fully fluent but I can speak, write and understand in an ok amount hahahaa.

YES I really relate to this! If you're going with people who deeply understand and care for you, I think you can have an enjoyable experience. But never feel pressured 🦋 I only found clubbing a wonderful experience to learn from when it was MY choice to go
Probably losing friends. When I was in high school, my friends and I grew apart because of the pandemic, but that didn't bother me really. What bothered me was that there was also a part in my life when I had to be the one to end my friendship with one of my bestfriends. It hurt me very much, but I know now that I'm more "me" without him, and I actually learned a lot of lessons from him. So even though we're aren't friends anymore, I still appreciate him and were still on good terms.
I've learnt that there is no real right answer for absolutely anything and that all that exists is something you can dwell upon and look deeper into regardless of whatever it could possibly be. There's always something new to discover or talk about. If you're looking at an apple, you could talk about its shape, its structure, its taste, feel to the touch... You could also go into the artistic side of things and imagine the apple in different artstyles. Then there's also the biology about the fruit and you have even more paths to talk about the apple's chemical compounds, the tree it came from... THEN you could talk about the people that cultivated the apple and transported it to your home... it just keeps going and I haven't even mentioned the infinite tangents that this can lead to if you just keep going deeper and deeper, forever if you wanted to. :)
oh, so much! really! specially when living in a country where they speak my third language; when facing deep political crisis and fostering a collective to counter those dark times; when being in different love relationships; by continuing coming back to vipassana in different phases of my life; by getting really sick after finishing my phd thesis etc etc etc
You're not intelligent because of your IQ, grades or productivity levels, but because you can adjust relatively faster to new situations, learn from them and reinforce your learning with your previous knowledge in the same or another situation.

What lessons or skills have you learned outside of school that have shaped who you are today? 🦋✨
I learn more about it every day, but a lesson that's been really close to me this year is how to grieve. It's a tough learning curve to really embrace both your life and your grief, and to share your feelings with those around you (death is so stigmatised in the west!), but it's spaces like yours that really help get me out of a darker headspace when I retreat to online spaces rather than facing life. Thanking you for continuing to bring your positivity and mindfulness to this corner of the internet xx
Hi Jade! Like you, one of the things that brings me the most joy in life is learning. And if learning is amazing, the idea of being able to contribute with my work to expanding the frontiers of human knowledge or just creating something of value for the world with that knowledge is even more amazing!! So much so that learning and working have become a part of my identity and a reason why I feel valuable. In the past year, since I graduated, life has taught me how unrealistic and dangerous this view of myself is and how fragile I am because of it. If my value is connected to my work, who am I if I'm not enjoying my current job? Who am I if I don't know what I want to work in? Am I just not trying hard enough? Am I just lazy? And what if there are other things in life that now bring as much joy as learning did? And what if sometimes I now enjoy these other things more than I enjoy learning? Am I just getting distracted from my life's mission? Who am I if I am not the girl who's always learning and working?
I have come to realize that life is the journey and the end in itself. That working in something you are interested in can be incredibly rewarding, but if you don't know what you want to do right now, it's fine too. That just means that at this point in your life, instead of stressing about how you have less value because you are not finding joy and fulfillment in working, you should be learning, exploring, having new experiences that can bring you in contact with the things this world has to offer. And in the process, there may appear things that really spark your interest, that you will really want to think about, and maybe you will find other people who also want to think about those things, and if you are lucky, society may even pay you to think about those things! And if you never find something, that is fine too. There's no pressure. Meaning in life doesn't come from your work; it comes from life itself. From living. From doing the things that you want to do. Not the things you should be doing.
So what I have learned in the past year is: life should be about you pursuing the things that really, really make you tick. To find the things that really make you tick, you must have space in your life to explore the world and yourself so that you create opportunities to come in contact with things that may spark your interest. To open this space in your life and be able to think freely, you must let go of the things you think you should be doing and being but, in reality, are not who you are or what you want to do. To identify what these things are, you must understand yourself, your upbringing, and the culture you were raised in well enough to be able to discern your true callings from your learned callings. Then, just understand there isn't any inherent greater meaning in life besides living life the way you want. The way that makes you happy. The way that you feel is in alignment with yourself. Strive to be authentic.
how to think for myself and not be a programmed slave to the system and completely dependent on the system like school wants me to be
I have learned that you have to accept that people go and you have to let them go in order to let new people into your life it is impossible to keep everyone close to you throughout your whole life. 🌍
I have learned video editing and I edit videos for one of my best friend she's a small beginning youtuber 💗✨I know it's not like she has million subs or anything but I make quite a bit of money for myself
Getting bullied sometimes as a child and being body shamed for being too big for my age only because I reached puberty sooner, taught me so much about being kind with people, because I didn't want anyone to feel sad in that same way. This turned out to be such a blessing and that kindness became the most important part of my character and it's a light I carry with myself everywhere❤
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for choosing to learn love and compassion from such dark times in your life. I'm very sure that other people would come out of that experience with different reflections, so this is a testament to your wonderful mindset 🦋
Grief and loss has taught me so much about life, losing someone so important and having to find a reason to continue, losing yourself with them and having to find a new version of yourself. Death is such a central part of life but it’s also so difficult to grasp and understand. I feel like I’ve completely lost the version of myself I was before but I’m also proud of who I am now❤

This is so important. I have learned that, too. And I am trying to accept death as the natural thing it is. It is talked not enough about the fact that everything is temporary. Being grateful for every connection before it ends is key and then being open again to let new love in is so hard but so important. You are not alone with this ❤

I pride myself in learning from literally anything around me. Books, movies, nature, social media, people, animals. There's always opportunities to learn from things if you're open minded enough 🥺🧚♀️
You always put out such genuine and authentic content. You relax my anxieties about being a twenty-something because I feel like I can do anything I want without judgment. Being a grandma and enjoying the occasional clubbing simultaneously really resonated with me haha, most people are judgemental of either extreme, but both CAN exist at the same time and we don't have to box ourselves into categories to please people. Manifesting traveling and learning about the world as a lifestyle,, thanks for the inspiration!!
I’ve spent first years of my adult life self-educating, so when I finally got into university of my dreams, it seemed just like extension of self learning. It was hard to see how my mates were terrified with grades and exams, they were learning only what they are supposed to learn. I never regret ignoring classes I wasn’t interested in and which didn’t lead me to my goal. So if you tend to be stressed out during exam season, I would suggest thinking of university as of additional tool, which you have chosen. It is not your duty to your country or your parents to follow the curriculum strictly. Build your own study plan 🌿

@@alessiabognolo7662 I would reccomend to create an enviroment which can help you to figure it out (for example, i started volonteering at an educational progect), or you can find a "study buddy" on internet to encourage each other. I also didn't have clear idea about future, so I just tried everithing ending up in languages and ancient history. Maybe you can start with just one thing? A language or a biology class)
I'm a uni student in South Korea. I often catch myself feeling barred from the freedom of my own thoughts because of the conventional way of life and the way of thinking that people around me. The videos you share give me a spark though, and it helps me keep loving life even when it's hard to. Like come on!! Learner for life sounds like an amazing thing to be💓💓
Struggling with depression taught me a lot about the preciousness of little moments in life, enjoying a good book, being myself, not being ashamed for that. I am definitely not grateful for the terrible moments I had with my mental health, but I learned the importance of casual magic in a way that I never would in school.

I have learned that I can do hard things. I have learned that I actually am not shy, just an introvert. I have learned that I will inevitably get (and already have) some of my mother's traits and that I need to start loving them. I have learned that I need to truly appreciate and somehow preserve moments spent with my grandma. I have learned that I don't have to get it right the first time, ever, and actually learn more from not getting things right the 1st time. I have learned that nobody is going to force me to work on my dreams and that if I don't put in the actual work I will stay in the same place forever. I have learned that I love to make my friends feel loved by giving them a well-thought-out meaningful gift. It has been a great year.

I'm a maths teacher nowadays so a large chunk of my learning outside of school takes place in a school which is odd. I spent my training year loving it but wondering how on earth you get kids to do things for themselves. I see students deprived of any role model in their life and find it more natural to truant lessons on their own and not socialise during breaks and lunch. I think to my own life and how loosely I hold it together at my worst times and how relatable some of my students' struggles are. We feel the need to be strong for our classes but this clearly alienates

I was asked at an education seminar "what is the minimum standard of maths skills you want students to exit your school with?" and I honestly think I'd rather my former students have a concept of accepting challenge and setback over the slightest concept of number. I believe schools should be teaching subjects as a medium to understand this abstract concept.
I get the question "when will I use this?" a lot and I almost always get classes to pack up 5 mins early to chat about what they think they're in school for. I tell them how ridiculous must it be to go to a school and learnt a vast array of facts and skills over 18 years, just in case you use it in a career but nearly all of them think this is the purpose of it. It's about learning to learn and it's not always academic.

I’ve always been a good student in school. This year i just entered my dream university and it’s been a real challenge, because even if my grades are not bad, they are average if not underaverage compared to other students. It’s been really hard and i am still truggling to gain my confidence back. But this made me realize that i was defining my worth based on my grades and my academic level my whole life, and now that i am confronted to other people that are smart or even smarter than me, i suddenly have nothing else to be proud of. Your grades don’t define you, and school is not everything. This video comes out with perfect timing as i am trying to figure myself out, to prove to myself that i am much more than just a note on a paper. If anyone else is struggling with this feeling, know that you are not alone and you got this. Keep studying and give your best, but don’t forget that you are not only a student but also a person with feelings opinions, hobbies and it’s the mix of all of this that really defines who you are. Don’t neglect that part of yourself

Probably how to handle failure. School in the UK only gives a few snapshot opportunities to experience failure, but life gives you endless rapid fire opportunities to fail and process each lesson at your own pace. Great video, Jade, thanks for sharing!

Traveling and experiencing other systems open your eyes to other paths and ways of approaching life. One thing I didnt learn in school but now in my volunteering year in Bosnia and Hercegowina is that there is no one true life interpretation, there is littereally no truth (and that is said by me as someone who grew up christian and still is). I talked with many of my muslim colleques here who all have different life views. And all of them believe they leased the truth. It really cleared my eyes that the majority of people on this earth are so convinced about their religion, world view etc. without taking into record that they themself are only shaped by their experiences and environment and this is why their world view is so small. I learned to accept the failure of human beings, that we will always have to reflect us and our environment.
So dont force your world view on thers, be curious in different cultures, spread love and acceptance!

Being diagnosted with a chronic illness, and spending time only by myself in the hospital really opened my eyes. Yes, I know, not really a pleasant experience, yet it was the only thing that helped me to rebuild the relationship with I had with myself, and eventually fall in love with myself. By this I don’t mean that everyone should go through the same thing as me! All I’m trying to say, that spending time alone teaches you so much, more than you think. It teaches you about yourself, it makes you get to know yourself. Because without having a positive relationship with ourselves, we can’t really love anything else.

My two life lessons are that it takes courage to be true to yourself and that the things you fear are almost always bigger in your head than in reality.

This video was so inspiring as always 💗 It really encouraged me to learn more outside of school, especially now that I’m at university and don’t have as much diverse subjects… One thing that I learnt outside of school is to accept fully the body I live in🤍 Also, it can seem stupid in comparison but the way we’re taught languages at school is just barely teaching us anything, that’s why I actually almost entirely taught myself English thanks to the different resources on the internet, which motivated me to learn even more languages!

As a Palestinian, the impact of colonialism on my ancestors' lives and, undoubtedly, on my own, is a stark reality. The "balfour declaration", with its far-reaching consequences, is a prime example.

omg i love that you mention routine vs clubbing, i recently felt stuck into giving myself the identity that Yes i’m productive, rountine-based, study, workout all that stuff. And i enjoyed that in one moment but i felt like i blocked myself from other things, like going to a party sometimes or drinking. I think sometimes, when you say Britain, you most likely mean England. For instance, when you mention Britain destroying languages, I think it’s important to note that that’s what England tried to do with Welsh therefore you can’t always encompass Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and England. I know you were talking about Britain’s colonisation but this is something I’ve noticed with lots of people when discussing history or education systems.
I loved your take on travelling, after a year abroad, I completely agree. It made me realise a lot about national identity which is most probably why I’m aware of how unfortunately, Britain and England are synonymous for a lot of people which sometimes feels as if the other countries in Great Britain have their identity and culture misinterpreted which is difficult.
I've learned more things from life than in formal school, I dig deeper inside myself, and now more about my personality, memories and attachment style. I've learned so many social skills. further than, I questions about alot of philosophical approach especially that relate to religion and faith, and definitely school can't help me to answer these questions
I'm a new viewer and subscriber 🌏, but so far, your videos have really inspired me to be more independent, explorative and conscientious about the world around me. I think you're really relatable too and can't wait to see what unfolds in your life while I achieve some milestones in mine (like healthily not in the manner of hustle mentality).

Hi Jade x one thing I learned outside of school is resilience and how to bounce back from past experiences. It is not a thing that is usually done inside the classroom, and it did take me a while to get used to. In the long term however, it benefitted me so much! I love your content so much, as I can relate to it. I loved school so so much, but you were quite restricted on what you did learn, not learning about creativity, expressing yourself etc. I can see where you come from in this video, and I am very sure other people see it too.
I’ve learned that I don’t need to be friends with everyone, not everyone will like you and that’s totally fine. No one’s defined by other’s opinions of them
Yaay and when you will be friends with everyone you will slowly convert into a people pleaser and that can cause us to loose your identity.
And when those people leave, it can give mental breakdown.
Hi Jade! Thank you for making these amazing videos. I have learned that being myself is worth more than anything. You do not need to behave a certain way for people to like you. You do you, and the people who matter love you the way you are. After watching your videos on topics about meditation, I started taking meditation seriously, and it has helped me so much in processing my thoughts and becoming a better person. It helps in clearing the mind. It kind of works like a reset button for me. So thank you so much for these videos, I really really appreciate you taking up topics that we usually do not give a lot of thought to but are very important, and these videos feed our thoughts.

i did learned something outside of school is that self-trust and how to forgive ourselves. bcuz school curriculum is more likely to push us getting a good grade in exam and determine our value by those numbers and ABCD. while I participated some event and self volunteer activities, i felt everyone in this planet have their own role on some extent, everyone is special.🎉 just don’t look down urself and remember, we are already good enough with just living in this earth ❤

I’m a high schooler and I’ve done a summer abroad and am coming up on my academic year abroad. No, my parents didn’t pay a penny for it. I found scholarship opportunities and truly applied myself and learned Russian and stayed with a host family. There are opportunities!!! Even if you aren’t even an adult yet. Btw I went abroad on the NSLIY scholarship. Highly recommend, also FLEX and YES

I learned more from working than I did in school. It taught me that I can be a confident person, I can be a leader, I can be part of a team, I have good ideas and that I'm not shy, just introverted. I learnt that my work ethic was not just limited to school either.
Jade, I did not learn much history at school when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s and early 1990s. I just did Canadian history such as Native Indians and politics and that was it. I did not do World History. I also did very little Science which was mostly biology and hardly any Physics nor Chemistry. I did very little math, but only Business Math and Arithmetic, but not Calculus, Finite, Algebra & Geometry nor Statistics. I learnt World History, Science, and Mathematics mostly through travelling and watching documentaries and reading books at home.
I learned that probably there is a God that is good, inherently good, and one can search him and discover that. Still, I also learned that because there are SO many people in this world, the whole religion / religions thing can be quite confusing and make you want to look away from this beauty... Actually, I really love this process I'm currently in, even though it feels hard at times (to get to know "the truth" in midst of so many truths...)
When I was a teenager, I wasn't cute or appealing to guys so me and my best friends became crazy over one direction. Now I see that was a way to imaginate a boy, a crush, an romantic relationship since I didnt had one irl.
That made me learn SO MUCH english, like, I am not fully fluent but I can speak, write and understand in an ok amount hahahaa.

As an introvert who loves spending time alone at home, reading and doing arts and crafts, your story about not wanting to go to the club because you believed you wouldn't like it caught my attention xD my friend has been trying to get me to go with her but I have refused every time cos I believe I wouldn't like it because of how much physical and social energy it requires... but maybe one day I'll take up her offer to go clubbing together :)
YES I really relate to this! If you're going with people who deeply understand and care for you, I think you can have an enjoyable experience. But never feel pressured 🦋 I only found clubbing a wonderful experience to learn from when it was MY choice to go
Probably losing friends. When I was in high school, my friends and I grew apart because of the pandemic, but that didn't bother me really. What bothered me was that there was also a part in my life when I had to be the one to end my friendship with one of my bestfriends. It hurt me very much, but I know now that I'm more "me" without him, and I actually learned a lot of lessons from him. So even though we're aren't friends anymore, I still appreciate him and were still on good terms.
I've learnt that there is no real right answer for absolutely anything and that all that exists is something you can dwell upon and look deeper into regardless of whatever it could possibly be. There's always something new to discover or talk about.
If you're looking at an apple, you could talk about its shape, its structure, its taste, feel to the touch... You could also go into the artistic side of things and imagine the apple in different artstyles. Then there's also the biology about the fruit and you have even more paths to talk about the apple's chemical compounds, the tree it came from... THEN you could talk about the people that cultivated the apple and transported it to your home... it just keeps going and I haven't even mentioned the infinite tangents that this can lead to if you just keep going deeper and deeper, forever if you wanted to. :)
oh, so much! really! specially when living in a country where they speak my third language; when facing deep political crisis and fostering a collective to counter those dark times; when being in different love relationships; by continuing coming back to vipassana in different phases of my life; by getting really sick after finishing my phd thesis etc etc etc
You're not intelligent because of your IQ, grades or productivity levels, but because you can adjust relatively faster to new situations, learn from them and reinforce your learning with your previous knowledge in the same or another situation.
