    I genuinely see the ending to Nier as one of the biggest pieces of evidence that people are, for the most part, good deep down, and are inclined to want to help others. It’s so fitting that message comes at the end of a long storyline with multiple examples of the opposite, and that real life sacrifice gives the story itself a more hopeful ending.

      But obviously both deleting and cheering others on helps. A lot of people were helping and a lot of people were cheering. They did not get any reward and still used time and (possibly valuable possibly worthless) progress to help others.

    Amazing game all-round and probably the best game to introduce someone to the ART that is games. Having your girlfriend play it now, when she knows how games work now just to throw her off with Yoko's insane vision was a great decision. And having her do all of the ending is just the cherry on top. (SPOILERS FOR THE VIDEO NEXT) I love that you did not force her to give up the data - she made that decision all on her own, wishing to help a total stranger just of the kindness of her heart and knowing that many others have made that decision to help her out. I'm currently diving head first into all the lore of this game, for a case study I have to write for school. Spent the entire day reading articles and watching videos about all the endings and now you're uploading this video. I think I'll definitely use this as an example of how good this story and world is written, that even a "non-gamer" can understand all (or most) of its beauty and nuances.

      @@Exel3nce Well biggest point for me is I've actually played a lot of Automata. So I've got a greater understanding of how the world is written, it's atmosphere and gameplay loop. I haven't really played all the other games that intensively, so I don't feel like I can really dig deep into its world because I haven't actually experienced it a lot. Second point is that I love the opening statement of the game directly referencing Nietzsches beliefs. With that I can openly credit all of his work whenever I'm referencing the "god is dead" idea. I don't think other nier games openly reference him so with Automata I atleast have a credible source for my thoughts ^^

    • @thalanoth
      @thalanoth Год назад

      @@simplygamic Well, you'll have to go into the story behind the Gestalt and Replicant projects, because it's how humanity attempted to approach god-hood with such new found power. Writing their own destinies that... well, you played automata, you can clearly see how 11k~ish years later it turned out =p Devola and Popula are integral to that part of the story, btw, and their (continued) existence is quite philosophical in itself...

    • @Tzimisce
      @Tzimisce Год назад

      @@thalanoth I'm not sure you understand the Gestalt/Replicant lore. Humanity didn't try for godhood, they tried to survive White Chlorination Syndrome by separating body and soul. Even maso experiments like those performed on No. 6 and No. 7 were weaponization experiments to defend against Legion, not attempts towards godhood.

    me, some years ago a random night at 2.30 passed mid night, thinking finally I was gonna get ending E and finish Nier Automata. I was not ready for the feels. as a player it hit hard when you saw "so and so's data was lost" and those encouraging words poped up cheering you on everytime you fail the bullet hell ending credits...there are no words I can find to properly define that particular feeling at that exact moment in time. I had tears pouring out of my eyes the entire time. it was such an experience that I think everyone should at least play through this game just once in their lifetime :p

    I am surprised how so little people actually mention small things like chips, settings and saves in game. That's one of the best thing in Nier for me. How adding chips, changing settings actually makes sense in a game world. Especially that "Virus contamination" section, where you lose vision, have a hard time walking and stuff which all makes sense since they are androids after all

    The E ending is a perfect example of storytelling through video games. Nier's entire story revolved around what it means to be human, or have a soul, and the last decision you make is such a human one. Do you give up everything you've worked so hard for, just to help someone else? And you do, because that's such a human thing to do.

They are very good guys and sometime backsitting me at some point only that i was stuck, and one thing I very cherish about this game that it bring me tear of feeling alive. I was cry in front of 20 peoples at the time I finish ending C, D and E. They didn't mock me, if it was a normal game then they will do it, but Nier Automata really give me the true tear of crying. I really love this game until this day.

    I'm 38 years old, and I have been gaming my whole life. I've been through a lot of rough moments in games, like FF7 or The Last of Us, but there are only three moments that consistently bring me to tears no matter how many times I watch them.
    1. Any time "Answers" plays in FFXIV.
    2. The ending of NieR: Replicant.
    3. Ending [E] of NieR: Automata.
    Hilariously enough, every one of these games is somehow tied to Yoko Taro in some way. Even FFXIV has a NieR crossover raid series. The NieR series is a *profound* work of art, and I will never stop singing its praises. Automata hits me especially hard, and if I need a good cry, I just watch someone play through the ending of this game for the first time.

    The way they used music in this game imho hasn't been done before so well, it's really a key element of the entire experience. One nice little detail during the end credits where you finally accept help (as she does after 12:18) is how they change the singing track to a full choir. Those voices are actually from all the developers, producers and Yoko-san, like they're rooting for you as you get more and more helpers and the music ramps up.
    (I had posted this with a link to the NieRGame twitter clip where the composer Keiichi Okabe talks about this but I guess that got auto-deleted).
