am sure we've met way back in the 70's, maybe at the somerset, royal oak or the coronation tap. lovely vids, do u mind if i borrow the flower pot design as a shop here in Easton Bristol need some for outside. Just a thought but i would use stainless steel screws as they don't rust, allowing pot to fall ...oww ! thanx mark b
Sounds like we both went to Bristol Poly at Bower Ashton. 1975-78. I use galvanized decking screws. Did you ever see a band called Juan Foot'N'LeGrave.? They were in my year there, Stuart Gibb was one of them. I found a video of the band on RUclips. Thanks for watching.
@@Vsmithpots i don't recall the band, will check them out though. i went to bower ashton only courtesy of the weekly discos held there after the pub. i just noticed that the wall planter is ur design, do u mind if i copy parts of it?
@@Vsmithpotsthanx, i like the them, too bad old potters dont get back together for gigs ..ha-ha...they're having a good time for sure. as u like them check Swamperella, a Toronto band..Louisiana swamp music. whats 2.5 days drive to see a good band:)
Hi from Japan. I always like your videos. Two questions for you, if I may: 1) do you put drainage holes in the base of the pot so the water drains into the drip pan?, and 2) do you just bisque-fire these, or fire twice? Thank you!
Greetings Vaughn. Nice touch, beautiful forms. Do you have a recommendation as to where to place the screw hole, how far from the rim of the pot? Is one screw whole adequate, vs two with a hanging wire? Thank you for the video.
hi. a question about these planters if i may. when drying, at what stage do u flatten the back? and is it my imagination or does the pot part shrink more/faster than the drip tray. its occurred to me that as the tray is semi stuck to the ware board [even if wired] its shrinking may be hindered untill its dry enough to move freely lovely things and the cafes round here [bristol] want some but like most simple things they take much practice. thanks again for letting me use the design, in pottery conversation i say the idea is borrowed from you
reckon ive got them right now after studying the vids.... thanx. but may i ask how deep do you make the base when throwing, is it same height as the block of clay you previously leave/define for the drip tray . also, do you do any turning to the pot, later?
I absolutely enjoy your videos, i'm a new potter and i have learned a lot from you.. Thank you! stay healthy
Thank you and good luck, staying safe is a priority these days.

I glaze fire them too, yes they do have four holes from the bottom wall to the tray. Thanks for watching.

I attach a 1 1/2 inch disc of clay about 1/4 inch down from the rim to thicken the area where I drill a hole.
Great suggestion. I am going to try that and thank you again.

I cut through the base two or three times while drying. I use a thin guitar string. You can also turn them upside down.
Thank you!
You are welcome.

Yes, about 1 1/2 inches tall and I trim them. thanks.
