As we age and downsize our home, we are eliminating the things we don’t need or use. Our no-kill animal shelter in town has a market where all the items have been donated. They use the proceeds to operate the shelter. We have been taking things over there. We had a large popcorn popper on a stand that we never use any more. Ron took it over to the Fire Department and asked if they would like to have it. They were so excited! They all came out and thanked him. Now whenever he drives by the station, they always wave to him. We try to donate to shelters and refugees in town. I would rather do that than sell things.

My clothes and my closet is where I choose to keep it complicated! I wander in, grab what speaks to me, and put together a totally new and unique outfit. It keeps my creativity flowing, and I love the surprising things I come up with.

same here! it's my hobby and my joy to do that very same thing. i do find that having too many options can sometimes be paralyzing, so i am trying to pare down some older garments in order to create new energy and room for growth

I have had the energy and inspiration lately to do deep cleans of the areas of my house that i usually clean superficially. A couple of weeks ago i cleaned out the walk out basement stairs. Today cleaned my pantry and dumped outdated food, and shredded paper into the compost. These purges of clutter and stuff that does not "spark joy" are ways i simplify my life in response to the world craziness around me.

One area that I refuse to simplify is in spices and herbs - I love to cook and it makes me really happy to have a big "library" of herbs and spices in my kitchen and growing on my back porch available to play around with to create something that I really love and am happy with.

I particularly appreciate today's thoughts from you. You inspire me. Also a favorite food from childhood comes from my Lebanese grandfather: slice leftover potatoes, arrange attractively on plate, drizzle olive oil, salt and black pepper. It's exquisite. Think I'll go make some leftover potatoes 😊.

Ana. I have been meaning to write since your video on Slowing Down. This video about Simplicity seems, at least to me, to relate to the one on slowing down. Since I retired, in the summer of 2020, I have been taking gradual steps to slow down more and more all the time. Over the past four or five months I have taken the slowing down to a new level. I no longer rush to get out of bed when I wake up. Some days I wake as early as 5:00 AM and other days I sleep in to 7:00 AM. It is such a joy to be in that space of gentleness with myself. Slowing down also seems to assist me in living life in simpler ways. I still do a lot around the house and garden, but I only do what my "Inner Compass", as you call it (or where Life leads me, as I see it), or the next thing that seems like it needs doing. That can include working in the garden, repairing something around the house, fixing a meal, or sitting and reading a book.
The whole simplicity thing is a bit challenging to explain, but I like to think of it as not "stressing out" about life; not letting outside influences direct my inner wisdom and truth. As always I enjoy your ability to ponder some of these issues. They help me reexamine my own journey. Peace to you and Brian.

I think it's absolutely wonderful that creative people can make a living on RUclips and other creative platforms! These methods have their glitches and their challenges, but they are such an amazing opportunity for helping people share their uniqueness and reach others. It's wonderful to see you thrive, Ana! As an artist, the next thing I have to do is get my photos out of my old computer and into my new one. I waited way too long to get a new computer, and where I live, we have no computer people, so we have to drive for miles! Your videos are always so inspiring and interesting! Continued blessings in your life! 🌺🌼💜

Dear Anna, that s what I needed to hear today. How to live when you live lin crazy moments.😢 I couldnr even sleep yesterday because of certain people who did and said terrible things. I start to avoid people and chose nature and a passion for something. Like I love my job evnethough its just cleaning offices. But I love it. I d try to start making collages or buy a color book but I am afraid to be dissapointed by my results. I d like to find a new turn in my life...and stop bothering by people that hurt me.

Dear Petra, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling upset and hurt by other people's words... I'm sending you much love and support 💙🤗 And I encourage you to give collaging a try or do the coloring book - just for yourself, you don't have to prove anything with that, it will be your personal tool and emotional outlet. We're often hesitant to do/make something because we're looking at ourselves through someone else's eyes and judging ourselves well in advance...

My two lessons I have learned are to keep it simple and to be my own best friend. For me, that means trying to keep my life choices uncomplicated. When I need to make decisions and options that overwhelm me, I try to narrow it down to three choices and work from there. Also, I try to live simply and slowly as often as I can. I aim to slow down the pace both around me and within me. By becoming my own best friend, I am kinder to myself and trust my judgement. At the very start just to learn to like yourself and to stop the inner thought loop of criticism can be a beginning. Thank you for all your in-sight Ana, which is always so very helpful and thought provoking. Best wishes from Suffolk in England.

It must be unsettling to be in a life so transient. Some people are meant to live a life of constant travel, but some of us feel more comfortable with a permanent nest. It grounds us, and gives us a safe space when the world around us seems always in chaos. Keeping a familiar routine (or diet) does not mean you are inflexible. It means you have found certain things that keep you grounded to your true self. They are necessary for your wellness.

Thanks again for your insight, Ana. I think that simplifying your life and embracing minimalism has to also be balanced with accepting that some other processes in life (and not the same for everyone) deserve to be complicated. For me, when I am thinking about best step -saving solutions relating to the practical uses of a space, I must consider all implications including options that may not seem initially apparent or helpful. In the end, arriving at a satisfying conclusion is well worth the journey....maybe calling this process brainstorming within my own brain 😊

Love your videos loads and feel really excited when you upload a new one, and it never lets me down. Always thought provoking in a kind way, plus often surprisingly in line with how I am and where I'm at, right now. I'm also a personal care snob for sure and getting, in time, even more unwilling to alter a predefined course of purpose, in this respect. Always looking for something impeccable and beyond clean. Which, aside from being a heavy financia burden, makes me also feel imprisoned in a cage I myself bought. Therefore, your new approach to universally available products sounded liberation to my ears! I've got to ponder a bit on that, thank you! 🙏 ♥

I feel deeply for you two and am glad that you are able to continue with your channels. As for bedtime habits, I have a yoga routine that really helps and I enjoy listening to sleep stories from a favorite app. At my age my eyes tire quickly when reading, so I tend to just listen to audio.
