All sounds created with a Fractal Audio Axe FX2, recorded directly via USB into a MacBook Pro, using the Cockos Reaper DAW.
The song you did for your demo was really good :)
+Andrew Baena Thanks, man! Highly appreciated! :)
+Andrew Baena Agree there X)
+Frank Fleckenstein Same here, I thought it was really good. Was that something you created yourself on the computer on a sequencing software, like Logic, or is it an actual song I could listen to?
Yes, that was a song I wrote for this particular review. Created with Reaper as my DAW.
+Frank Fleckenstein What is the tuning for the 7 string
I don't know why these beauties don't be produced anymore. The new stuff isn't nearly as sexy as these.
I keep finding myself coming back here just to listen to that song again every couple of weeks. Really well done, mate!
Dude, this was monstrous man! Your songwriting is badass
+Bobby Didcott Thanx, man!
I come back and watch this review at least once a week, that song is just soooo good! Would happily pay good money for an album of material like this!
+Craig Wright There is an album coming very soon...;)
Well done! I like the fact that you are talking about cons as well - makes the whole series authentic.
I can't get over how amazing these guitars look and sound
It's one thing to demo an instrument, but to demo it with a beast recording like that, you got something there
6 years on and I'm still coming here daily just to hear this track.
That's awesome, thanks for the kind words. 😀
the clean part at the beginning is my favourite part for some reason
+ellis smith Hahaha, you're not the only one!
Frank Fleckenstein still awesome review man keep up the good work
Listened to 90 seconds of the intro and subbed. killer songwriting man.
Thx :)
I'm normally not a big fan of active pickups, but these sound insane.
Some seriously rad riffs in this jam brother. Thanks for sharing!
+The Bunn You're more than welcome, bro!!! :)
The melody, as is always something extremely touching. This intro for example reminded me of the soundtrack for Silent Hill, is a mixture of feelings: macabre, classic, calm ... You're too good face congratulations!
+João Henrique Dias (The StringChannel) Thanks, man!
Very well presented.
Also, I like your music very much, modern playing and epic composition!
+Harel Jann Glad you like it, man! :)
Thanks for the mention!
I look forward to sending you one of our new Ormsby GTR series Multiscales for a review in the near future :)
Neutral fret: 9th
Stainless frets: check
Headstock angled to avoid fretboard end: check
:D
+Perry Ormsby That would be an honor and I would love to play and review one of your guitars.
Excitement level 2000: check! :)
This should totally happen! I own an Ormsby GTR and it's a killer instrument
Your stuff is Amazing!
I think your designs are something visually that is just out of the box ,a one in a million chance ,best headstock ever! Additionally your choices in construction are a benchmark for building modern guitars.
Hooray Perry
Just discovered these videos through my recommended feed. Keep up the work dude. It's nice to see well produced videos with great quality music being produced! Also, if you ever feel like giving a guitar away for free you know where to find me, haha!
Thanks, man! I will keep'em coming! If I can ever give one away, I'll remember! ;)
Ein ehrliches Review ohne Gehype und mit tatsächlicher Kritik?????? SUBSCRIBED!!!!!
That intro was awesome!
Awesome guitar and sound !!
this song is awesome, I seriously watch this clip to hear it, then restart it once the review starts.
Can't believe I haven't found this channel before. Danke dir, Frank! Subscribed!! :)
Wow I havent heard of you until this video, and I fell instantly in love with your playing style. Ich bin zwar etwas spät dran aber weiter so!
+XenoBlader Vielen Dank, freut mich dass es gefällt was ich da so bastele! :)
The demo is ridiculously amazing even a year and a half later haha
that was fantastic!
loving those tones.
+AkiraSpectrum Thanks!
got the 7, its sooooo amazing!
great rewiev, Frank, as always!
Love this guitar so much
Bought about a week ago or so and feel right at home with it
The only thing is eventually I will replace the frets and tuners
I was thinking pickups as well but I am very happy with how they sound
The ergonomics of the fanning actually allows it to hold tuning better than a usual guitar. Although, i'm still puttin a locking trem on mine because I completely hate tuning at all unless I have to haha
I purchased mine today but i will need some time for delivery.. Can you please tell us how many you've paid for refret work, im planning to replace the frets to.
that bridge riff pretty awesome.
Sounds amazing!
Great review, looking forward to more.
Pro Level | Clean playing and recording. Try the BX Subsynth or SPL Vitalizer to the bottom end
man...you re great...Greetings from Greece!
+kithagoras Wow! Thanks a lot and greetings from Germany! :)
Thanks for the honest review :) i'm agree with the cons but still a good locking guitar... need to try.
I'm waiting for mine :3
Impressive mate! You're review is very good I've been thinking about buying the RGIF8 but decided nickle frets aren't for me in any case im subscribed!
+mathew pybus Glad I could help here! :)
+Frank Fleckenstein actually I subscribed to your channel as you give a really good review and I just couldn't get past the awesome tones you've pulled out of the RGIF series so I went down and checked one out at my local music store and yup I walked out with one I decided I can live with nickel frets I cant live without the incredible playability and tone of the RGIF8 so now I'm the proud owner of yet another quality piece of craftsmanship, thanks heaps mate if it wasn't for your video I would never have given a fan fret a second look now I play it consistently! I look forward to more of your gear reviews you do a top job keep up the good work :)
Das ist so geil.. Höre es mir immer wieder an. ❤️ Ich hoffe dir geht es gut😘
Had 4 or 5 high frets. A few sharp ends. Tool marks on a few frets. Half assed dress and polish. Fortunately I like a little project. I was just a little surprised it made it out of the factory like that.
Yeah, that’s something I experienced with quite a few guitars coming out of the Indonesian factory. Not very consistent.
Refreshing demo - thanks!
Can't get enough of this song!!!
Great song, nice transition between guitars, where is the lead solo for this track?
+DANTHETUBEMAN Didn't do a solo for this song!
this is great brother! very impressive clean sound!
You did a video for the Bias FX Metal pack right? Damn you can play bro, nice videos.
that transition to the 8 was dope man!!! I REALLY want the 7. do u reccomend?
+Billy Turk Thanks! I can, but in the end you have to check it out on your own. I can say that personally I am happier with my Kiesel AM7.
I re-watched this video quite a lot of times cos of the song :D .. going to learn it and do a cover
Luv the look, luv the fanned Frets, HATE Actives ( for Djent they just fuck up clarity and Dynamics ) and HATE the Paralell fret at fret no 12!
Cool tune!
man your videos are great, subbed!
+Chris Harrington Thanks man! :)
beautiful axes. cool axe tunes.
This sounds 🤯
great review. I personally just bought the 2017 version of this guitar.. the RGIM8MH i think it is basically the same instrument except a different finish. I have been waiting a month for shipment tho and I can't wait to try it out.
fantastic song!
Really good demo Frank. What tuning is the seven string set to? I am very tempted this is a really good looking guitar!
The tuning was kind of weird to be honest. Drop Ab with a sus2 on the higher strings.
+Frank Fleckenstein Thanks. Would this guitar sit happily at standard tuning too?
Weiter so!
Danke sehr! Preis/Leistung ist meines Erachtens ok. Ob Multiscale oder nicht, wird sich bei Deinem Test im Dezember sehr schnell heraus stellen. Ich kenne einige Leute, die überhaupt nicht darauf klar kommen.
but you're not supposed to use heavy string gauges! that's the point of multiscale: you can detune a lot while retaining a good tension without having to use heavy gauges
+Jacopo Tersigni Well, with thick picks and a strong attack you can forget about regular strings. Tried it and had to go with heavier strings, since they lacked tension. A 074 low F# will also leave marks in those frets and it comes standard with the 8-string.
I really like that 7 string... It looks so nice on video too, which would be perfect for me since I make so many videos haha
very nice demo dude :D
had to subscribe, too much awesome.-
+Andy Andio Awwww, thanks man! :)
Are you planing to realese something? Every song on every gear demo sounds incredible.
+Juan Germano Yes, I am planning to release something in the near future. Will do an announcement on this channel for sure. :)
nice review and killer tune. just recently picked up one. love it, but I myself am bothered by the way they set the nut. was wondering if you ever asked and got a on why Ibanez did it that way?
Well, they told me that the nut without fretboard wood behind would cost another 100$ in production. I somehow have a hard time believing that to be honest!
That was just plain wicked.
Very well done review.
yeah not sure. it's baffles me since I got it. the guy at the local shop said guy bought it owned it for like a week and realized his hands were to small so he sold it. in that time it's very possible he switched them out. just don't see why that would be the only explanation
I'm thinking of buying one of these..
I've bought one it came Monday ain't had chance to have a go yet cos we're trucking
Cool demo! What amp/cab are you using in Axe FX2? :)
+Mika Tarkela (Floge) For that video I used a Friedman HBE with the Misha Mesa cab #4.
Great tune!
holy shit, amazing songwriting! what tuning is this in?
+9tao9 A weird Drop Ab sus2/ open tuning!:-)
Excellent review.
Your awesome frank! Found u on hennings channel. Also question how is the playability difference between that and a kiesel or Strindberg I need to know cuz the 600 one I payed sucked so bad I had to just save more money lol
Great video Frank. What make is the headless guitar at the start of the video
+Gareth Wright That's a Kiesel Vader V6! :D
+Frank Fleckenstein Thanks Frank, looks awesome
Hi, there. Nice review. I just subscribed. If the nickel frets become a problem for anyone due to heavier string gauges or whatever, would it be costly to replace the frets?
Thanks man! Yeah, you could do that. Installing stainless steel frets costs around 300€ more or less.
First: why are some people so good at songwriting that it makes me feel like I suck at guitar? That was awesome. I want a download link of that song.
Second: I already played the RGIF7 (it even was today) in a music store called PPC Music. And I absolutely loved playing on this thing. Already thinking about buying one, but I do have a question: that was actually the first time playing a guitar with over 6 strings for me, so would you recommend buying a 7-string first or would you say its a good idea to jump right to an 8-string
+Marvin Hochreiter First of all...thanks for those kind words. It's different to read that someone else likes what you write, while you are in doubt if it's good enough to put it out there. To answer your question: It totally depends on how comfortable you feel with the instrument. If you feel confident on an 8-string, go for it. If you notice that the 7 makes you feel better and is enough to achieve what you want, go for that!
+Frank Fleckenstein well, you should listen to me playing. I play for slightly over a year now, and for that i play...well, not exactly bad, but through my ears its definitely not that good too....anyway, that sound check song was really awesome!
K, then i might need to try playing an 8-string before i decide to get the 7-string, so i know if the fretboard and the neck are still not too wide for me. But thanks for the advice
Comes with a stock 0.80 for the lowest string but would probable swap out for something nearer a 0.70 for an F#
great song!
Great man! Could you please inform me about the tuning you are using? (standard from production, or slightly adjusted?)
+MegaTafe I also have a request. Could you please share tabs if you have made it? The riff is pretty good!
+MegaTafe Thanx! Tuning is Drop A, so just a bit different! I also raise the G-string two half-notes up!
+MegaTafe I didn't make tabs for it! If I find the time, I'll do it though.
I will be trying rgif 7 in 2 hours ;) I hope it will fit in my hand's and be my new babe ;)
by the way your face during playing this song is so natural happines of playing this notes !!!
im thinking of buying a seven string, is this something you would recommend to someone or is there anything else out there in that kind of price range that would do better.
You can get a couple of 7-strings in that price range, or even for a lower price if you don't need a fanned fret guitar. If you want fanned frets, you should look into Ibanez or Kiesel. I also did a video on the AM7.
the into music (the piano with shimmer or whatever it is) reminds me of Fallout for some reason
hey!!! i love your video!!! i just want to ask.Is thia guitar comfortable to play?? would you offer to buy this guitar or similar model RGIM7MH ?
I hope they let you keep one of them :)
Can you please do Aristides review?
+thinkfloyd312 Hahaha, I wish but they actually won't. Yeah, I am on it and I will, but the guys at Aristides are really busy finishing customer orders.
so i got my guitar after the fret work. 200euros did not go to waste. like this guitar is so different now. easier bends, slides, pulloffs and hammers and legatos. great guitar, but needs new frets.
I definitely think that the 7string guitar sounded better than the 8string.
yeah that's pretty crazy 100 dollars more to not have a piece of wood
. another question I had is everyone I've seen has the 808 x mine just has 808 bought it used after a dude owned it for about a week it was made may of last year so it's not even a year old yet. just confused to why mine has the normal 808 and everyone else I see has 808x thanks man
That's weird! They all should come with 808X as far as I know. Maybe the guy swapped them? Just an idea...
awesome riffing
Great demo! Do you think this guitar would need much adjusting for it to be really stable and good sounding? Or is it good enough out of the box?
Thanks! That could be different with each instrument. Sometimes you take a guitar out of the box and it’s great. Sometimes it needs adjustment. Then again, string setup is a very personal choice.
Frank Fleckenstein Thank you for your response! Have you had any tuning issues with this guitar?
How would you compare the RGIF7 to the Kiesel AM7 Aaries Multiscale you did the review on? I'm trying to decide on one. The Kiesel is almost twice the price.
Why don't they put some decent passive pickups in those iron labels? I feel like ibanez hit a lot of the right places on those guitars but are out of touch on the pickup side.
The demo song was awesome BTW. Loved the open ring out part.
+Benjamin Yeah brother! I hear you on that one...:)
I like your T-Shirt more than the guitar :P But the guitars are amazing though! :)
Hey man, nice riffs!
Does the intonation improves with fanned frets? I've always wonder if chords especially after 12th fret intonate better
The intonation actually improves a good bit. It has to be adapted to string gauge and tuning nonetheless.
Sure, I've always felt lack of intonation in most of the guitars I've played. Then I learn normal fret are just an approximation, and the key to have perfect intonation are true temperament frets. So let's say fanned frets are between normal and TT frets, right?
+Gabriel Frison I don't think so as the fret spacing is still the same logarithmic spacing on each string, just scaled.
i like that guitar!
but there is a iron label 8 string for 445€ and has good reviews.
that would be my first 8 string guitar, so i dont know if i should buy the premium or the middle price
would be my first higher price guitar, too
would be nice to have one
Mate you quick advise from who are not even close to your play skills. If you have to choose which Kiesel
Aries AM7 24-Fret Multiscale Fanned-Fret Bolt-Neck 7-String Guitar, the Ibanez? Thanks in advance
In direct comparison my choice would be and finally was the AM7! But that's just me, I know people who are really happy with their RGIFs. The AM7 felt tighter on the low strings and more balanced overall.
thanks meaning Kiesel is the way to go?
Definitely! :)
+Adilson Obelard you cant compare these two. different price regions. rgif 1000$/€ and kiesels with nice specs are about 1400-1500$/€
Seriously. Why did they discontinue this model?!
Using all 8 strings of an 8 string guitar? madness!
Awesome song, loved the haunting clean intro, a lot like Radiohead in feeling... metal Radiohead!
i really love ibanez but i just tested that instrument on weekend and...i didn´t like it not because of the multiscale, i really dislike active pickups, the bridge seems so cheap and sustain is not good i don´t know if because of bridge, and general i don´t like finish.
Ibanez sends you 2 guitars yet won"t send the one i wanted and paid for :( I waited 6 months for them to tell me it would be another 6... why
+Frank Fleckenstein Could the 7 string handle Drop F# (F# C# F# B E G# C#) with 11-70 strings?
+I Don't Know 0123456789 I guess that would work! Maybe a 074 gauge to have more tension!
+I Don't Know 0123456789 27 inch is already on the shorter side for the low F# if you ask me (my homemade 8 string is 26.5-28), but it would definitely work. i have a 73 as the bottom string, and i think you might want to go for a slightly thicker one as well. check out circle K strings, they have reasonably priced strings with way better selection and way more options than d'addario or ernie ball for extended range guitars. i've got an 8 string set 9-73 that costs me about 8 bucks each. also, even FAT singles only cost about 1.50-2 bucks each.
+givemeajackson just checked them again, seems they got a bit more expensive since i last checked...
Yeah, just saw that too...strange!
The 7strings is dropped in what tunning?
+Rising Curse Drop A for this tune
Cool track, what tuning are you in?
Thanks...it's Drop Ab and Drop E for the 8-string
I got a RGIM7, does anybody know if the only differance to the RGIF7 lies in the finish of the body and headstock? Links in the info are dead, unfortunately.
