Thank you for coming out brother!! Can’t wait til next time!
Same here my man!!
James Miles Raymond Daniels is incredibly dope, but I said what I said 🤭😂
@@SenseiSeth my grandmaster is retiring. Do you think I should switch to Upstate Karate?
Taekwondo Lifestyle if you get the opportunity!
Your leg didn't stand a chance against Seth's face!
Chubby powah!
Amazing bit of Jesse. Literally made me burst out in laughter.
This is the quality content we need.
Haha glad you enjoyed it!!
"In a world where sidekicks don't work....." convinced me. I am subscrubed!
Hahahaha thanks my man!
Matthew Corso oof 😂😂

Sidekicks do work. But, you have to practise them a lot and have power with them, you also need to know when to land them and be aware of the defence against them. They are best as a surprise attack. For instance, when Wonderboy comes out of the pocket to the left, you can land a spinning right side kick to catch him and force him back onto the ropes. Here there was no ring, which would make it easier for him to avoid it, but if you time it right it would still either land or give you distance and give you time to reset. Additionally, you should try to set your own cadence and try off-beat attacks. The Tao of Jeet Kune Do explains this in some detail.
All jokes 👍
Big ole 'like' for the Karate Nerd making a cameo. Hilarious!!! This was a super cool video! It's crazy to see how good pros like WB really are. Sitting there watching UFC on your couch you can't really tell but when you see them against "regular Joes", it's impressive. You could tell WB was going maybe 25% and was still just scoring at will.... no offense Seth lol
I lost my shit at the Karate Nerd, he's so wholesome. Thank you for the video Sensei. I know this sounds dumb but it's nice to see that even our teachers and heroes aren't invincible and seeing the level that UFC fighters are on is fascinating to watch.
Haha it was very humbling 😂
Karate nerd 😂, great guy
He’s incredibly cool!
It's probably how Spider-Man felt being left out the MCU before Civil War
Christopher Nguyen 😂😂😂
Wonderboys movements are hypnotizing. I think you get caught up on that that's when the unexpected happens. Great job though
Haha I was fully prepared to get punched in the face regularly
He's like a snake charmer keeping a Cobra from striking at him and the boom... he catches it by the neck lol
Jordan haha precisely
At 4:51 mark, “what am I supposed to do about that?” Is hilarious ;)
Hahaha it was my genuine thought!!
I remember my first time sparring against a clearly superior striker, you learn the difference in skill super quick. Worst part is unlike in BJJ where you'll just get tapped inevitably....you know your going to be getting punched in the face for up two minutes. It's a feeling that still occurs when I know I"m out matched and you start losing mentally, second guessing everything. That must have started the minute he hit you with that clean hook kick.
As you said though there are levels to everything. BJJ black belts with years of experience will get babied by the likes of Demain Maia. Great job and great video.
Thanks a bunch bud!
Karate nerd was a really cool clip. And that was an awesome video. Thank you for sharing and I'm so jealous of your journey. Continue kicking capss and taking names!
Haha I’ll do my best! Thanks so much for watching, it’s my honor to share it 🙏🙏
@@SenseiSeth Don't feel obligated to answer this. But do you have any tips (or just encouragement) for gyms, dojos, school's, etc that are closed? After rent and insurance my school runs on a pretty slim margin and I've only been strictly teaching a little over a year. And I'm admittedly worried about the future, as I feel like the success/ failure is now completely out of my control.
Respect for going in there and sparring with a legend. Let alone landing a few shots.
Thanks! 🙏
The "Chubby Surprise," I live this.
Haha 🙏🙏
Hahaha big up Jesse's karateka senses tingeling during his kata, is collab coming up?
Haha I hope so!! That’d be a blast. Probably not anything face to face for a bit though 😓
@@SenseiSeth haha that one came from nowhere like a mae geri, I think we should get a live call panel set up with you, karatenerd, mccarhty and abernathy and have some sessions. Everyone bring an uke, and discuss like bunkai and waza
Ibrahim Khalil that’s be a blast!
My guy!! Hope your channel blows up a you get big subscriber boost. You deserve it. The karate nerd cameo made me crack up.
Haha I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
Class! Must have been an experience of a lifetime, it's always easy when theres no camera on you, and your sparring somebody who isn't 6th best UFC in the world. Probably the mental stress is the reason you ran out of steam in the end as well.
Stevies the boy! Front foot kickings always been my favourite way of sparring.
I love all your channels! The content is fun and respectful. Keep up the great work!
Elite Force Martial Arts thanks so much my friend!
Well done. Great show. Best ever sparring. I ever saw. I really think, with the intelligence and ability. There's something awesome going to, happen for you folks.
Glad to see this video, and your collaboration. Especially how you guys are not tribalistic about what style you practice, but focused on sparring, and making Karate effective and practical. It is a breath of fresh air in an Internet landscape where martial arts flame wars tend to be commonplace.
We just like to punch eachother 😂 thanks bud!
Fitness is the key dude. Great effort man your very privileged to get in there with a legend and there’s no losing only learning every one who steps up n puts it on the line is a winner that’s the true spirit of a true fighter .just scrap baby
He’s an animal, it was amazing
Like holy crap - you got to spar with Wonderboy - like so cool - and yeah - he's a major badass; so it would be weird for him not to outclass a bit. Just the courage to even do that... mad props.
Awesome Sensei. Much respect for the man in the arena.
All you guys looked superb. Loved the hook kick that Wonderboy landed early in round one was sweeeeet!
Scott Thomson it was awesome!!
You have a great style of commentary. Love the humor in it
Thank you!!
Watching you guys is like listening to poetry. thanks you!
Moran Yehonatan Priel haha appreciate you!!
Always thought when watching your channel how you and WB are so well suited for sparring and love to see it, and here we are.
And we’ve got round 2 coming soon 👀
Karate will never work "in da streetz" and MMA🙊😉
Love the Streetfighter voice in the intro. Guys are awesome as usual!
Haha thanks!! 🙏🙏
Thank you so much for playing your part in making this collab happen, I love it man. I need this quarantine to end so I can take a trip!!!
It was a blast!
What you said about being mentally exhausted reminds me of this one time I sparred with my instructor. Neither of us really did anything, for the 2-3 minutes, the sparring lasted, but both were exhausted at the end. Me and him costantly tried to open the other up for a strike. Feinting, moving, trying to set something up, but couldn't really. I can relate to that. Great video, Wonderboy is a beast.
Ruben1994OL he sure is! Thanks for watching
My favorite RUclips kickers all under one roof! I love it. Now that I think of it - it would have been nice to see KwonKicker there too.
Haha that would’ve been cool!
Damn dude, I felt it at the end of the second round when you threw that jab and it went in slow motion. Fatigue is a real bitch haha, my jabs look just like that at the final rounds of boxing sparring. Anyways you did great considering who you were up against and you kept you composure well when you were out of stamina.
I legit felt like I was in one of those crappy slow mo dreams 😂
@@SenseiSeth I hate when that happens LOL
Bro the cameo from Jesse was funny as!
I attended his seminar in Okinawa, he's a really lovely instructor.
Man this is stupid awesome! Dang WB floats practically!
Love love the Jesse cameo!! Such a shame I'm in Austin, Tx.
Yes I went through that with my instructor brings back many memories that I still try decode to use today no hate youdidnt start out to well but once you got comfortable you improved your game stop trying to just land what you want and start going for what's there try to open things up for what you want but don't try to force it to happen stay in the moment
When in doubt jab if not in doubt jab anyways in fact most the drills I learned consisted around the jab wether self defense techniques or sparring because we all know its the fastest most effective our attacker may use on us maybe not the most powerful or greatest reach but definitely dangerous and if not defense correctly leaves us vulnerable for more oncoming if attacker sees we can't even defense against that they get more encouraged its a test and many will test us with feints just using footwork even without jab if we don't move respond correctly we encourage them more. to swing at us and it misses or has little to no effect or is consistently guarded against discourages and we wan't our attacker feeling that way as we continue to batter their spirit possibly their body 😉 as far as side kicks being ineffective nothing is effective if its seen or anticipated coming especially at light or medium contact if skilled at this they should be scared to go full because they can't even beat or out fight you going gently I say that every sparring session with my sifu thank God he's taking it easy on me
Good job !!.... you did a good fight with wonderboy ... you got tired but that is normal ..... it is good that karate fighters practice together.... the video was excellent and again I congratulate you for the good job you are doing....I'm going to show my son that his favorite karate fighters are friends and they train together
Awh man, that’s so cool to hear. Tell little man I said hey!!
The "Chubby Surprise", followed by the head kick sounded so innocent and tired, I love it so much
😂😂😂
As a not very thin guy that loves kicks I will forever use the phrase chubby surprise 😂😂. Thats amazing. Love your videos Sensei Seth.😂
Nice video. Stephen Thompson is an awesome guy. The karate nerd bit was pretty funny.
I follow both of you guys. Wonderboy is one of my favorite fighters ,has proven karate works in mma
One of mine too!
Love that hookkick. Iam suprised that Wonderboy move like a pointfighter but it still works 🤷♂️
You've sparred with the best now, man! Wonderboy is tall, fast, strong and a master at his craft. At least you got one or two chubby surprises in there.
Haha I’m hardly disheartened, it was a blast
Excellent sparring. WB us the best
No hate going on here.
I'm just thrilled to watch you guys spar, so keep them coming. I'm excited to see more.
Take care, and remember to stretch ;)
Awesome video Seth! What a great experience!
Man it was such a good time!
That epic intro AND a Karate Nerd cameo??? You have a new subscriber my friend! 🤣😂🤣😂
Shane Walters ayeee 😂 that’s what I like to hear! Lol thank you sir 🙏
Imagine being beat up by wonderboy and he's being nice while doing it
Hahaha yup, pretty much
I just found you through Wonderboys channel. Great video man
Thank you my friend!! Glad you stuck around even though he kicked my butt 😂🙏
I really liked your close up head kick
Cheers
Haha a silver lining 😂 thanks bud!
This is a great example of skills. One fighter has better skills. No shame. You must have learned so much. What an incredible opportunity! You only learn by sparring with better skilled parters. Please stay healthy.
Exactly! Thanks James
For real man he’s so quick amazing anticipation too
Incredibly good at what he does
THE BEST INTRO INTRO IN ALL OF HUMANITY ABSOLUTLY CLASS
"Chubby surprise" killed me! 😂🙏 How cool is that to spar with the Wonderboy!
Is always fun!
Man you're so good, don't be tough with yourself. The problem is that Wonderboy is too good!
Anyway great video, I am sure you were too excited to be there with him that you couldn't focus on sparring
Haha I’m not down by any means, it was a blast!
Great video as always. Can you tell me what you think about kyokushin karate. I personally like it cus of the toughness acquired.
I’ve never trained in it, seems tough 👍
Loved watching y'all spar! Wish I could have been a playa.
🙏🙏 thanks for watching!
this video makes me forget i little be what´s happening in the world right now, thanks bro!
I’m glad to hear that 🙏 thanks for watching
Chubby surprise is going to be my new mantra for sparring
Hahaha use it!!
I'm still amazed that you worked with Faze and Wonderboy 😁
Also, I kinda want to see more of your boxing skills
I’ll post sparring stuff when I get a chance!
@@SenseiSeth Great! 😃
0:56 Karate Nerd's FOMO sense is tingling. 😬
And Im back after Sensei Seth and Karate Nerd met at last! 😁
This is great! Love the cameo of Jesse-sensei too. You guys are helping make karate cool again and not just mullets and mcdojos
Might be a something of things to come.
zenlot13 hopefully someday after we can start traveling again!!
@@wesleyharris1723 that would be awesome. My two favorite karate channels colliding? Just gotta get Icy Mike in there and it's golden
Haha Icy Mike def looooves Karate!
@@SenseiSeth I hear the Coronavirus is vulnerable to side kicks, so Mike is kinda screwed
Man its like everytime you throw something at him hes right there with an answer whether you hit or miss 👊👊😳😳
mixing traditional with combat sports is the best, my first love was shito ryu but here in Mexico the combats where much more dinamic and also WTF spinning kicks, MMA and kicboxing where supergood for my martial arts. ;)
Goddammit Jesse sensing a disturbance in the force at the beginning got me so much
Now I am far from an expert here, but he MAY have some conditioning on you.
Hahaha MAYBE, just maybe
@@SenseiSeth Let's see it sensei!
Man good old goodguys! Kuddos to both
Just add a touch of Ramsey Dewey and Brad + Joe and the Avengers will be assembled!
Pretty much!! 😂👏 don’t forget Shane and Icy Mike too!
The karate nerd still doing kata while they reunite
sensei seth being nice to spar mate.
Dude I remember thinking in the intro, don’t knock yourself! You’re awesome!
Hahah thank you bud!! 🙏🙏
Jesse's part in the video is hilarious!! lmao
As a fellow chubby guy i am totally stealing that phrase when i spar from now on
Steal away! Lol
I tried to steal it myself, but it turned into the "Chubby 'Bout-what-was-expected"
You giving me some kung fu panda vibes at around 0:47 😂😂
😂😂
Dang u even got the Jesse cameo. This is like the karate Expendables lol
Slider X hahaha right??
Well done mate !! I like you used different guards !! You should try and work the levels abit more !! Mix up your moves a bit more !! I bet you had fun and learned alot !! I still love the no ego and honesty !! Keep it up mate and have fun !! 😎🥊🥋👊
Was just trying to conserve energy by the end! 😂 thanks!
Respect brother great video
Rojas Boxing thanks!! 🙏🙏
I saw the part where you both threw a reverse hook kick ending like step brothers where they knocked each other out with the bat and golf club
Hahahahaha
dudeee the karate nerd cameo made my night hahaha
😂👏
THIS WAS AWESOME
Thank you!!
:57 that was priceless! 🤣🤣
any chance you or Faze have considered Karate Combat? you guys would do well u bet!
I’ve def been giving it some thought
Sensei Seth your kicks Vs competition. I think you would represent Karate quite well 💪🥋👍💯
The Jesse clip was perfect😂😂
Glad you made it out in one piece.
Marlon White I barely did!! Lol
Ohh that hook kick though
Shawn The Martial Artist thanks!!
Dude saw what you were doing and reacted before you were halfway through the move, how do you fight that? Awesome for experience though. Good times.
Hahaha that’s what I’m saying!!
i also notice that he closes the distance in a stealthy way whilst he's bouncing
Oos sensei, new subscriber. What style of karate do you practice if you don't mind me asking? I studied Shotokan for 10 years and stopped after receiving my 1st Dan and now do boxing.
Nice! Kempo!
sensei jesse's cameo caught me off guard haha
His first appearance on my channel!
It takes guts to go in there against Wonderboy. Good job! Osu
Was all fun! Thanks Sensei 🙏
Is very different kempo karate from shotokan kárate? In terms of kumite?
You did great with wonder boy!
Thanks Caleb!
Man karate gets too much backlash, both your styles just make you so much harder to hit and the kicks are so smooth. You use your kicks like their jabs
Haha thanks bud! I like kicking people, it’s my thing 😂
Awesome video. You did better than you think. That IS Wonderboy, after all; I'd argue he's top three in his division. Love his father being honest and constructive. They're a great family and Wonderboy's positive outlook is very similar to your own.
My two cents: Watch how he uses pressure. This is where the difference was most apparent. When inside, rely more on "feeling" or sensing than sight and maintain your base; contact can become control... send your intention and force beside his "line" and back to his center... it subtly unbalances your opponent and gives you time to respond. Granted, it's hard to do with big gloves, but Wonderboy does this at times using karate methods. You tend to recoil [and tense] and pull back at contact, but contact or his posting can guide you into his base if accepted. The key is elbow [immovable downward] position. "Turn the spear" [don't attack at the apex of force but alongside it]. When you do circle, go outside his lead leg and shift immediately into your attack. It will gain you time. I often saw you go "into" his best position by going inside his lead leg. He's too good at framing so he'll be there the second you shift in that direction. Trying to gain distance when you can use his energy to divert and shift outside slows you down and is exhausting. To me it's just a matter of you gaining comfort inside, learning the levers and tricks around the guard. Don't think it will be too long before you feel more relaxed in there which will amplify your speed and stamina. You're very talented.
Position permits opportunity; balance allows response. Maintain your own and take both away on contact. Be relaxed and "conform" upon contact to use his force as much as your own.
Great content on my favorite karate channel. God bless.
Man I’ve been taking SO many notes on how it felt when we sparred and have already started applying it to my training!
@@SenseiSeth
Sweet. What an amazing opportunity. Look forward to more!
As soon as I saw Sensei Seth spinning so close I thought that he was so overwhelmed by Wonderboy's movement that he stopped thinking clearly. It is ridiculous how smooth and fast Wonderboy is.
Hahaha yep, pretty much. My brain thought “do this!” And my body thought. “Bro I can’t move”
@@SenseiSeth and the way I knew that is because I've been there more times than I can count. I'm sure it was a super awesome experience to spar with him, you got your chubby surprise in. I doubt I would be able to touch him.
I was surprised I even touched him, he was being nice to me 😂
Yes Wonderboy Thompson is, making it look effortless.
He is staying cool. Not throwing hard shots. Breathing, perhaps. Doing well if he is aged 47. Karate Enthusiasts, seem to go on a long time. Like The Kempo dude. Who, is the friend of Master Wong. He looks ancient. He is still going with his Kempo.
Love the karate nerd cameo
Haha thank you Theodore! He was a good sport about it
Haha that Jesse Enkamp cameo 😂
yeah weowo
That jesse cameo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
sweep the leg!
It was the shock of your rediculously chiseled jaw that damaged his hamstring😁
Slider X 😂😂😂 must’ve been
Wow that was great what a honor that was. now I’m going to work harder on my RUclips channel plus sorry but I’m using cubby surprise
Hahaha you’re welcome to use chubby surprise
And good luck!!
Chubby surprise !!! Hahaha I’m all about that.
Hahaha my best move
Chubby surprise 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha 🙏🙏
