Always start at shaft before roots. Roots are to be bleached/colored 10 minutes later

It's not lighter because it's new growth. It's because it's closer to your scalp so the heat from your scalp processes it faster (same how we put on a plastic cap to trap the heat. Heat from where? Your scalp)

I love it I was born ginger but as I got older its dark brown but I'm day 2 on my starter locs I started with a good length on my shoulder when I dye it I will dye it ginger absolutely gorgeous

I love your hair and boldness to dye it. Im almost 1 year locs. I dyed my hair ginger about a month hefore i started locs. Now the dyed is about 3inches past new growth and im debating between red or black. Have you ever noticed any kind of shedding or unhealthy aspects of your locs from dyeing it? I wont use bleach and i know darker colors make it "look" thicker.. Im just scared lol. 😂
i used developer instead of bleach before and i think it helped to not damage it too bad but the process lasted much longer to get the color to take

I waited 6 months. Which gave my Locs enough time to mature. 8 months is more than enough time. GO FOR IT!!!
To each its own cause everyone's hair isn't the same which is why they say don't compare your journeys.. They usually say to wait at least a year..

Y’all, if you are not going to let a professional put a chemical on your hair put it on the right way. You need to lighten the hair shaft first then the rest of hair bc it processes faster at the root.
Absolutely correct heat rises from the scalp and will process the roots faster that’s why she got the results that she did
