This the perfect explanation of this relationship between us viewers and you two lovelies who share your stories because you’ve found an online community of people enjoy watching. Of course advertising revenue is an income stream that you get in return, fair and square. You two are so clear that the request for targeted help towards costs going into the channel are humbly put to those who are offering to chip in somehow… so how bloody rude of these grumps to have a go at you for it! As if you’re asking us to buy you a jet-boat and jacuzzi or some such personal luxury nonsense. And the one going off across all platforms…. What a humbugging, petty creature. When I saw the waterfall, I immediately thought hydro power??? OMG, even out on an island them up in the Gods find a way to tax us little people. A Custom Tax House. I am glad to see it as a ruin! Amazing how long some of the structures have lasted. We are all allowed our own opinions. We do not have to like everyone! I do not mind about sight and sound in and out, I still love all that you two do. If, you do not ask, you just do not know! This is the way everyone is keeping in touch and being more helpful. I would use that old glass to make a small seed starter bed, just make a small box angled to the sun or you could even make it out of stones ( you've got plenty of those)!

I settled down to watch your latest and was sad to hear you say people actually objected to you asking for help purchasing a new camera. There are some mean spirited people in the world today and to many of them spend time putting scathing comments on you tube.
I am 75 and live on a pension, yet I was pleased to donate to your starlink and have done so for your camera appeal, to me £1 is a small ask for the wonderful entertainment you provide to us on this channel. I am practically housebound, my house is a terraced one and when I look out my window all I see are houses opposite me day in day out, watching you tube has changed my life and your channel especially.
I have to ask the people who have put objections in your comments just what do they think you can get for £1 these days.
My daughter takes me to Starbucks for coffee and you pay between £2.50 to £3.50 for COFFEE and once drunk its gone, same with a pint of beer and many other things we willingly spend our money on without thinking. But you two young people entertain us every time you upload a video, with amazing scenes of the beautiful island you live on, the things you have to do to live day to day.
I especially enjoy it when Katy chats about Scottish history, her voice is very relaxing to listen too. All of this is free for us sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy and I often wonder how many hours does Scot have to spend editing these videos for us, so to reiterate what can you get for a £1 that gives you all that this lovely couple give us for free and this new camera is for our benefit, not theirs as the videos will be of better quality, if the subscribers to the channel donated just £1 each to this appeal they would have their camera. The customs house would have been used by the Customs Officer and his team. Customs officials role was to prevent smuggling and they had a boat, the customs cutter which could be rowed or sailed to intercept ships suspected of smuggling. Another role was to find and destroy illicit whisky stills, which most isolated communities had.

Gee Katie you had me holding my breath with that windows removal without taping the glass & when you took your glove off, I had a feeling of impending doom! Lol . Those scotch eggs brought back childhood memories of my grandmother (she was English & married to a Scotsman) she use to make these for our outings & long train or bus journeys when we went away together. She passed away over 30 years ago when I was about 18. Thank you for helping me to remember part of my childhood long forgotten.

Hi, Probably to late now but you could have had a look at used camera equipment the place I use is WEX Photography and you still get 12 months warranty.
A way to help date your beams is to ask the locals when circular saw cut beams, arrived in the area of Scotland you were at circular saw, cut beams, at least in the US did not become very common, especially in rural areas till after the late 18th century and early 19th century

The "platform" is a section of an early fish farm cage, They were not flexible enough for wild seas and often broke.

A good old tip from an elderly antique dealer is to use baby oil and a lot of it to join big cracks in the wood. If you think you’ve used too much keep wiping more on.
