In my mind, Midori represents that pinnacle at the top level of violinists, which is so wide today. ....a position previously occupied by Heifetz. All around in terms of technique, tone, interpretation, innovation, and musicianship, she is the master violinist today. Lucky indeed are the students at USC who get a chance to learn from her. This recording of a live performance is astounding. and she gets applause after the first movement! I cant say enough. Bravo....Ne Plus Ultra playing.

that's just freaking awesome. you can't play this piece better than that. maybe Heifetz, if only he had recorded it.

Heifetz a enregistré le second concerto PAS le premier....à notre connaissance le meilleurs enregistrement de ce concerto est celui de I Perlman avec les Carmen variations de sarasate un enregistrement historique ....
A wonderful violinist. I know she once occupied the Heifetz chair, which tells you how good she is. 😊.

Such a beautifull concerto!! Modori can easily be compared to Heifetz. Wonder his reaction if he could listen to her playing.........Slatkin and his Orquestra are awesome too!!!
I can't understand why Heifetz never recorded this concerto, it was made for him.
Michael will deliver a wonderful performance as does Gill Shaham. Not too sure if Perlman did it. In my young day, it was deemed pretty impossible to play. Just show how violin technique has come on. Haeji Kim plays this first mvt to near perfection at 15 and her Bruch No 2 3rd mvt at 14 is spell binding.

it's a live performance. i noticed it the first time i heard this; i just assumed it was a micro memory slip with an incredible instantaneous recovery.
What exactly are you referring to? I have music and it's the same as this performance
oh, please. all right, open your score to the section marked "finale" (essentially the coda of the last movement, where the fast triplets start). second measure, last two beats. violin score is A-C#-A, G#-C#-A. Midori played G#-C#-A, A-C#-A. she has a studio recording of the work, with the saint louis symphony. does anyone have that? can you check that passage? i will bet a nickle she plays it correctly on that recording.
wow, i just found that recording on youtube, she plays it the same way as this radio performance. i can't explain it; i've heard a thousand other violinists play it. *nobody* else plays those notes reversed like she does. either her score has a misprint, or she learned it wrong the first time and never referred to the score since. what the hell, it's still great fiddling.

Well it depends why you are struggling or what you mean by struggling. There are a variety of reasons: you can't hear intonation well, you don't pratice enough, you have small hands, you have a learning disability and so on. Skill is a mixture of talent and practice.
