  • The West Coast is a great place to experience nature. It has many raw landscapes and beautiful beaches. Riding on the gravel roads is the perfect way to soak it all in.
But there may be a time in which you need a singletrack mountain biking experience. On the West Coast, both Yzerfontein and Langebaan offer amazing holiday experiences, but neither have notable mountain riding routes.

The only option for mountain biking is to go to Living Colour in Darling where you can enjoy the Wolwefontein farm, They've been developing their single-track tracks since 2012
    Creating a memorable outdoor experience
Negotiating a family weekend away and finding a place that everyone can enjoy can be tough, but luckily some places have areas for partners/kids to enjoy themselves while you do your bike session.
Darling outdoor events and lifestyle company, Living Colour, are doing something different with coffee, beer, light meals, and a pump track for the kids at Wolwefontein.
Living Colour has the option of working remotely with powerpoints. They’re perfect for people who love driving to Wolwefontein, and using Living Colour’s facility as an office.
Mountain biking thrives when landowners are involved, and the government allocates funding to experienced stakeholders. People who know how to connect with bikers.
Wesgro helped Living Colour's Kevin and Philippa Wood to bring their Darling destination vision to life. Kevin and Philippa are lifelong Darling locals and have been involved with its popular mountain bike events.
Anyone who has ridden mountain bikes around Darling will know that the best part of any route is the bit that goes through Wolwefontein.
Gabri Steyn has crafted 2 mountain biking routes on his Wolwefontein farm - an 11-km and 25-km. He believes in utilising the natural contours of the land to create a network of trails with great flow that can be accessed by varying levels of ability.
A few of the climbs are short and steep, but entirely manageable with riders adequately rewarded with fun descents.
Rather than keeping his singletrack groomed with a weed eater, Gabri prefers to keep it natural.
The descents are a bit technical, with some rock slabs and naturally eroded ruts into corners. It’s the kind of classic hill country trail riding that the West Coast could use much more of, with textured trails that require a certain amount of ability.
If you're after a day out of Cape Town or are looking for some cycling options in the vicinity of Langebaan, the Living Colour is a great option. They've got everything you need, both pre- and post-ride, and there's enough for your partner or the kids to do too.
A day riding permit is R50 and Living Colour operates from 07:00-18:00.
