I’ve always liked Tesco West Brom, it’s not like the old Tesco for sure, going there as a kid the electrical & toys were just amazing as a child. Atleast it’s still in West Bromwich town and not in a barron estate a mile away. It might have saved West Bromwich town because the amount of people it brings who then go on to shop at other stalls & shops, shudder to think if Tesco new square wasn’t built.

I worked there on the second day it opened, it used to be busy everyday but this is the first time I’ve seen it this quiet

It really ought to be far busier, maybe folk have got wise to what a depressing experience it is

It used to be busy but every time I’ve been in its dead , it’s just feels like an empty soulless shell

It doesn't seem busy until you get to the tills I really detest the place, I doubt I'll be going back any time soon

This particular Tesco used to be jam packed with aisle after aisle of goods, I went in this Saturday and was shocked at the emptiness and the desperate feel of it, it was awful. 😊

You do paint a depressing picture of West Bromwich these days Phil ! I shop in this Tesco store but only because it is cheaper generally than the local Tesco Express and you get free parking with a minimum spend. However you have to choose your visiting time carefully as it can get busy at the checkouts, even the self-service ones. The range of goods stocked is now much lower and it used to have decent sections for electrical goods. Now there is, as you say, a lot of empty space and I've noticed this on recent visits. As for the cafe -there is no customer service, fine if you are happy to place your order with a touch screen and then take your chances with finding a free table. Tesco management (and other similar big supermarkets) seem to have lost sight of the fact that people do prefer personal service, even if it may cost a little more. If more people boycotted the cafe in particular, maybe management might sit up and take notice.

When this tesco first opened it was a really good store you had a electrical department with great choice and prices a games department and a proper pizza and meat deli now I there is too much open space😢

It may not be getting as much footfall as it once did. I wonder why they persist with that sushi bar surely it would have been better still being a deli, thanks for the comment

Been in there a couple of times but I hate the place. First time we went in we complained to the the lady on the checkout about the music. It wasn't just deafening but from the middle of the shop you could hear two completely different lots of music at the same time so it was just a terrible noise. The lady on the checkout just smiled and made a joke about it. I've always found Tesco quite expensive. Very strange how much empty space there was in there though as they usually utilise every inch to maximise profits. Even on your video Phil I couldn't wait to get out of there and I bet you needed a lie down after that one mate. I mainly use walsall Morrison's and Friar park Lidl now.

I tend to shop anywhere other than this ghastly place. Mind ya Im finding Aldi in West Brom a bit of a no go place lately. The one in Carters Green is far Too crowded and the staff are always stacking shelves on very busy times and those large trolleys always blocking your way in the aisles and then slamming those plastic trays on top of one another with a very loud 'smack' goes right through me. Morrisons is probably one of the better ones, thanks TS

Hi Phil the first Tesco I remember in the 70s was as you come in from West Bromwich into Great Bridge on the left .and your right Phill Tescos you walked around is to big and soulless I prefer smaller shops although there are a lot of people who prefer the bigger stores all the best Paul

@@awalkwithphil Yes Phil I know what you mean when they throw those plastic trays down. I was in Morrison's yesterday buying some veg and the guy was banging them down right next to me and yes it also goes right through me, I've got hearing like a dog mate. I do find Lidl much nicer than Aldi's although I hate the big one in West Brom. Lidl is much tidier than Aldi.

I far prefer the Aldi experience, just too much unnecessary choice in Tesco. Great example, tin of plain chopped tomatoes. Aldi do 2 products, single tin of own brand and single tin of own economy brand, both great quality, nice and thick. Just checked and Tesco do 13 combinations of brand and pack size, then on top of that 4 of these have 2 different prices depending on if you have a Clubcard!

Phil. I adore watching your walks. This one, however, I totally disagree with. Tesco is fine, space to move around freely in. and my wife and I have been going to for years
