Happy New Year, everyone. I’m trying to spend as little as possible throughout January, but if I see a bargain , or something that I can use at a great price I’ll buy it, I’m trying to stretch my money as far as I can. If you’re new to my channel, welcome. I’ve lived frugally most of my adult life. The videos through the week reflect that, from bargain buys , to budget meals and container gardening, however I can be as self reliant as possible. On Sundays, I like to get out in nature and relax, and my Sunday videos reflect that , being more relaxing. Feel free to share the links to any of my videos on your social media. Take care 🙋♀️
I'm planning to spend as little as possible all year this year. But one thing i have bought this week is a grow light from Amazon for 25 quid. This will allow me to start certsin vegetable seedlings off much earlier and get them off to a stronger start. This should ensure a better crop to save me money from buying them. All the inputs I spend on growing food are eclipsed by the monetary value of the food if I were to buy it in a supermarket . My allotment is one thing I do spend money on if I need to. Obviously I repurpose a lot of things for my plot, and get free manure, leaves, grass cuttungs snd cardboard. But even after buying certain seeds and other inputs I still save more money in food than I spend on the plot. I love looking at the cost of fruit and veg on the shelves to see how much money I'm saving.
You need to get a dehumidifier. Leave it on, it wont cost very much once it get the damp under control. You will be be much healthier too. Yesterday when i got up it was 10 degrees inside, i cant afford heating right now.
@BeFree-BeFrugal Do you leave it on though. Mine stays on 24-7 and i have no damp issues. i also recover from colds quicker and get ill less. Leaving it on is more efficient than turning it on and off. i have one with a humidity regulator.
Isn't it terrible the lengths that we 'ordinary' folks are having to go to - just to manage...I too hardly have my heating on...I sit here with so many layers of clothes on that I can hardly move! Like you I try to make my money go further by buying only what I need...but still things continue to go up, get smaller or have a new tax added on (the new grocery tax began on the 1st of January)...I wonder where it will end?
We are doing the same. It's tight but compared to our ancestors I suppose we are doing alright. Thing is, you'd think we would be doing at least the same as if not better than previous generations. Peace and warmth to everyone.
Hello I agree with you it really is 🥶 , you really did get some bargains at the shops . Hope you are keeping well sending you love and prayers 🙏 God bless you Happy new year to you ( I can't remember if I've said it to you already).
Hi Jill, it is me upside down on the other side of the planet. I have the air conditioning on as it has hit 34 degrees and it is 5.00 pm. If I don't put it on at 4.00 p.m, half the house seems to boil in the afternoon 🌞🌞🔥🔥phew! I had a weird experience at the supermarket with a huge $10 (£5) packet of peanuts. I'd bought some reduced 🥕 Santa 🎅 carrots for $1.88. And got a bit annoyed with the receipt saying I'd bought 2 when I only got one. Then I got weirded out because the $10 peanuts 🥜 were missing. It was too hot 🔥 to check my receipt at the shops so I checked it home instead. They always muck me around when I do that. But when I unpacked my groceries I found the peanuts and they somehow got the reduced sticker from the carrots stuck to them in my trolley 😂 So, Jill, I had a $8.12 Santa carrots windfall off the peanuts! Got no idea how it happened but the sticker must have flipped and got stuck somehow on the peanuts in the trolley. 😂😂 NUTS!!😂😂 Belinda
We have heaps of tomatoes, zucchini with sunflowers in-between for the cockatoos in winter, pumpkins, strawberries and our potatoes are looking good still. Nothing fruits until February when the heat settles and all the vines go crazy. The amount of cranky birds and possums is outrageous because we covered the apples and pear trees. So by the looks of the middle of the tree, we may get a few for the first time ever!! Yes, my home is full of bludgera, including my juvenile sons. I am awake because they are yelling playing games live with their mates online. Anyone would think that they were live in the trenches. Glad they are not really at war like other poor souls 😊@BeFree-BeFrugal
I adore the light up tea tin. I'll bet it's beautiful when lit up. It's only the 3rd and I've already blown my monthly grocery budget. It's not hard when prices are rising so fast! $4.19 for a head of cauliflower and $3.98 for a dozen eggs, at Aldi.😲 Starting a diet is going to be very expensive. Good luck on finding great bargains and have an amazing weekend.☕🍵🍝🍗
As you don't monitise your channel Jill I'm watching the adverts all the way through in the hope it will help with commission. Keep warm. Best wishes 😊
A 2025 calendar is one of the very few things I am keeping my eyes open for, but I won't be paying full price for it, £1 is my absolute limit! I received notification that when I took early retirement in November 2023 my lump sum was underpaid to the tune of almost £1000, I have no idea how that can possibly happen but I'll be receiving the back pay at the end of January, so that's my good news.
Always A Pleasure Jill 🙏 What Bargains You Got!!! Love M&S Tin's Cute!!! Happy New Year All The Best For 2025 Sweetie 🎉 Wishing You Exellent Health Wealth Happiness 🙏 🧘♀️ 🪷 🕊 💖 Stay Warm Sweetheart 😊

Have a dedicated old cloth to wipe condensation from windows. Saves the tissues.
Good to see an upload from you ❤
I've just bought some wrapping paper and Christmas cards while they're going cheap, always good to plan ahead!
