  • Time for more stories from my days as a Kuwait expat! Living in Kuwait as a woman (and living in Kuwait as a single woman at that) was an interesting experience for me. Part of my Kuwait expat life involved meeting new people, which is awesome, but some of those people are...kind of creepy sometimes. So you can add this to my ever-growing list of living in Kuwait pros and cons.

The creepiness of men never ceases to amaze me!! My rule is the first "no" is very polite, but I go straight to a very rude no if I have to say it twice. Nothing gentler than that seems to have any affect at all, sadly. It makes me feel mean, but my personal safety is more important.

Bro I’m a Kuwaiti and I can agree that some people in Kuwait are weird, but I hope that soon in the future someone can fix these problems, because this is a small country and there is so many corruption it seems like everyone is like that.

That welsh accent lol. Anyway I spent 4 years of my childhood in Kuwait a long time ago. It was a great hospitable country but even back then there were some weirdos. Even my mum had the odd unnerving but rare experience but was always quite firm.

Bro, block him. That guy was definitely stalking you, which is illegal in Kuwait. These desperate annoying guys don’t deserve kindness or being treated politely.

Mahmood from the bank is most likely an Egyptian. Although what he did is illegal, they’re smart and cunning with it. In fact Kuwaiti law is mostly an Egyptian law. And Egyptian law is mostly French law.

Oh. I live in Kuwait, and don't hear much about such things. Very strange indeed. Like that 2nd guy..how did he know?
Though it can be quite umderstood in a sense, like he knows someone in airport, and stalks you from there, so knows job and location (job-related in your case)..etc etc.
But I know a foreign woman who also is frequently called by her neighbour asking her if she needs and help or so. He asked for her phone number when he first met her as she arrived.
I was normally talking to her, he called, she quickly finished it and explained it.
He seems desperate just like that last guy. I believe he was Egyptian, as well as 'Mahmoud' sounds very Egyptian name choice as well. Sorry Egyptians, I love you and been to Egypt and love it.
Anyway, so just sharing. And yes, good it didn't go any further. Maybe you could've told like police or authorities, most likely they'll be super strict. Because women in general are respected here according to Islam and ancient Arabic traditions. So other Arab or Muslim men in authority will most likely make sure he never annoys you again. Except if he's a Kuwaiti..wasta may get things complicated, but still it will spoil his reputation which sounds good for you.

When this channel was recommended to you by a slightly creepy man from Kuwait. If you want to know why I blocked your number, it's because your "jokes" about me living in your house in the future, wearing your coat, texting you the day before valentine's day "on purpose", convincing me my parents were "too conservative", your idea to go bowling with my female friends and I as 19 year olds when you were 29 etc, were innapropriate and disrespectful to myself and others, not to mention your own integrity. You are very tech savvy, I will give you that. As I am sure you will agree Aimee, not all Kuwaiti men are creepy but some of them are.

Look your a good a person who is kind to others and as a Kuwaiti citizen I realised that some individuals regardless of their of nationality or gender tend to act like children and to me the best approach is to treat them with cold demeanour and little to no conversation
