  • Gleason score can be misleading to patients. It is being replaced. Epstein grade groups will replace it.
These scores can affect the treatment - surgery, radiation or hormone therapy - that a doctor recommends. Jim (of JimJimJimJim.com) is not a doctor, but a man with a high Gleason score (now the highest Epstein grade group - 5).
Video 1 will explain how Gleason score has been changed to fix problems with Gleason grades in the past few years (2005-2014).
Video 2 (this video) will explain the problem with Gleason score, and detail the Epstein grade groups that are replacing it.
Video 3 will look at the evidence that Epstein grade groups do clearly identify the risk of aggressiveness of prostate cancer.
Both Gleason score and Epstein grade groups are being used now during the changeover. Later, however, only Epstein grade groups will be used.

Thanks Jim Jim great information, Monitoring size and grade with MRI would be my choice, take a MRI guided biopsy only if clinically significant. Repeat pin cushion biopsies can do as much damage as the radicle prostatectomy, some fellah’s have recorded erectile dysfunction after just ONE biopsy.
But I’m not a doctor what would I know.
I’ve seen 7 GP’s here in Australia now and not ONE of them could tell me who Dr Jonothan Epstein or Dr Laurence Klotz are, or explain the relationship between AS and Epstein grade 1 and 2.

I thought targeted MRI-based biopsy was more effective than 25% when it comes to finding tiny aggressive cancer spots.
