Jason, your comment hits to the core of our discussions about musical expression, tone and direction. At the center, the sound and articulation of the instruments is most important in delivering a musical presentation. Thank you so much for your kind words! All the best for your music! Mark
My roommate and I are playing this for his recital soon and I’ve watched this video so many times for different interpretative ideas. Thank you both for writing such a fun and challenging piece 😁
Thank you so much! Paul Rennick and I have always enjoyed performing Renfro together. Listen to your rehearsal recordings for better ideas on how to refine your sound and blend. Good luck on your recital!
The last few bars remind me heavily of Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude. Is this just coincidence? This is a super awesome piece and I’ve only discovered this similarity after many listens.
While that is pretty cool Ethan, it is purely coincidental if it is true. I'm glad that you liked Renfro! If you'd like to hear a cool version of the Revolutionary Etude on marimba, check this out ruclips.net/video/I4CVhj7XGjk/видео.html.
Thank you Frank! I'm glad you enjoyed the music. Actually those mallets are a beautiful shade of purple! They are from my Rhapsody Mallet Line from Innovative Percussion. I am using the IP823 mallets here on Renfro.
Do you mean a pdf version for sale? No. But you can order it from any normal percussion dealer or directly from Musicon at www.musiconpublications.com. Thanks for your interest!
I could watch Paul play snare drum for days.
John Sturino - Me too John! I hope all is well.
Possibly the two best sounding players on each of their respective instruments in the world right now. Their tone is incredible

I love the feeling of tension in the beginning!
RBeast - Thanks!
So lucky to have seen this live! Great job as always!
Eileen G - Many thanks!!!
Very playable and very accessible to high school junior and seniors. I love the bi lateral approach to writing. Well done you two.
Thank you Jim! I'm glad you enjoyed Renfro!
Love everything about this - the piece, the performance, the great sound on both instruments, and the awesome camera work. Beautiful work!
Dan, many thanks! This is a great culmination of a super project with amazing people! Now we are thinking about the sequel...
INSANE!!! Love the duo
Alejandro, many thanks!
Great work, guys!
Thanks so much!!
Love this back and forth concept, works so well! Great job!
Thank you Reed! Our concept was to have a strong dialogue between the instruments.
The ending felt so powerful I was like woah
Thank you!! I like the "woah"! :)
This is so sick. I’m all hyped up at 1:30 am now. Anybody know what those snare sticks are?
@@dafontenot Actually, the stick that Paul is using is a new proto-type concert version of the TS-PR in the link. They feel great!
@@markfordmusic Oh wow, good to know. Thanks!
Nice!
Thanks Dennis!

This is why I wanna go to UNT at some point
Many thanks! UNT is a special place for music!! And percussion! ;-)
Does anyone have any idea what sticks Paul is using? I love the big beads. IP doesn’t have them on their website. Maybe a prototype?
Paul is using his signature TS-PR Multi Stick: www.innovativepercussion.com/products/ts-pr
@@markfordmusicthank you, Mark! I thought those were just for marching. Very cool.
This is awesome! What model are the blue mallets are you’re using?
