I wouldn’t exactly say they nailed it. There was an obvious moment at the beginning where Tom wanted to continue his harmonica solo, but the band went on to the next part of the song and he had to cut himself off and catch up with the lyrics
Love it when the live performance sounds just as good or even better than the orginal recording. This one hit it right out of the ball park. Fantastic.

Today is May 5, 2022. Hard to believe so much time has passed since this. Kudos to Tom, especially at the end where he acknowledges Paul Shaffer. (Paul was a lucky guy during his tenure with Dave to have played with so many fantastic musical acts)

Syl is an old acquaintance of my brother, sister, and myself and one of Canada's most underrated guitarists. He once played my cheap, plywood Telecaster copy and made it sing like I never could. What happened Syl? You shoulda been a star!

Say what you will about David Letterman but he had so many great and influential artists and acts during his time on the air. The David Letterman Show would be what would have happened if the Ed Sullivan Show persisted until the early 2000s, in my opinion.
