    Then why should not we become materialistic and enjoy life as much as possible before the inevitable death? What is the point of austerity?

    • @VishnuMaayan
      @VishnuMaayan 2 месяца назад +1

      Materialistic pursuits can be achieved but at what cost? You can achieve all the Wealth in the world but will that give you happiness before the time is Up. The Answer is with You alone

      @@VishnuMaayan Yes, If I own all the wealth and power of the world( though impossible) I will get happiness until my death!

      Because life is not about "I", "me", "mine". We're but a part of it. And as a part of it, we're not entitled to have all we want, we simply need to do our duty (Dharma). Happiness doesn't come from enjoying sensory pleasure, it comes from contentment with the current (any) situation. If you look only at what bothers you, it'll seem worse and you won't even notice the positive points in your life. Somehow, the idea that having wealth, power and fame bring you happiness was put in your mind, and as a result you compare your current life with this illusory (not real) idea. Of course the result will be suffering and you'll keep thinking that only by achieving that you'll be happy. There are countless examples throughout history of people who pursued material things trying to feel fulfilled and failed. Because happiness doesn't come from external factors, but from changing the mind (getting rid of attachments, expectations, mental bias and false beliefs etc.). Austerity is a way of achieving this, but one can simply keep living the life they already have, only changing their perspectives. Because really, most of our sufferings are just a perspective problem, when our views aren't aligned with reality. In this way, we're in peace with time, with death, change, and we'll go through whatever we need to go through. Get attached to wealth and power and when you lose it you'll suffer miserably.

      @@adalbertoruiz7651 Is not austerity and renunciation a weak defensive mechanism to escape from the hardship of practical life?
      Living in a delusion that I am just the witness, permanent, all-pervading non-dual consciousness, "Self" of all beings cannot cure the pain, distress, hunger, thirst, corruption and crime of this so called illusion of world. Where is peace ? Is living like a stone or robot is same like the state of Moksha? Is that the only aim? Then a coma patient is also enjoying the same kind of peace!

      @dipankarpaul756 2 месяца назад

      @@adalbertoruiz7651Then a coma patient or a person in deep sleep is also enjoying everlasting peace.
      Both these persons cannot perceive the pleasure, pain, praise, insult...all kind of duality of these so called illusory world.
      Is not renunciation nothing but escapism? A soft defensive mechanism to get rid of harsh reality of this temporary and ever changing world?
      If your body is burning can you still live in a delusion that you are just the witness of this temporary burning sensation because you are the non-attached all-pervading self? The Sat Cht Ananda?
