A quick oversight is that I said that Indigenous Strands was 4b/c as her hair is mostly stretched in the videos. Her hair may be type 4b or a. Still, I do believe her content can be helpful to anyone as she makes moisture and length retention her priority! :)
I just recently overcame texturism… I thought I had always liked my hair because I’ve been a proud natural since 11th grade. Never worn a wig and I ditched the weaves when I became natural, only wearing braids or faux locs when I added hair. But I didn’t fully like my texture : I was sure I was mostly 3c/4a when in fact I am mostly 4b with 4c on my crown. I do have 4a on the back and middle of my head but it´s not all of my hair. I was clinging to that 3c/4a because people were complimenting me on my hair, that it is so curly, defined and like mixed people’s hair (ie not kinky and manageable). Even recently my sister asked me why I have hair like mixed people… I told her I have black people hair, African hair (we are Congolese btw, no non-black ancestors for sure and we are both dark skinned beauties). Mixed people have my hair, not the other way around. Now I only claim type 4, only. And I get so many compliments on my hair but it is not about texture anymore. I never slick my edges down, it's not my thing. I do mini braids or twists and let them get frizzy, that's how I like my hair to look. I am not supposed to have slick hair because that's not how God intended the hair that grows out of my scalp to be. I accept that and I love my hair. I cannot get a correct wash and go because it will look a mess and that’s fine by me : I will go out shamelessly with a failed wash and go or braid out. I will never claim that 3c ever again, I do have coily hair and that’s perfect. It suits me. I only follow fellow coily/kinky hair creators. And my hair has been getting even better, fuller, longer. The manageability of my hair has nothing to do with texture. I take really good care of it and it shows, that’s it.
Know your individual hair, rather than try and align your hair type to the bogus Andre Walker Hair Chart . Type 3 and Type 4 are at the bottom of the hair chart, so shows how Eurocentric this hair chart is.
This type of hair is so gorgeous to me. I think wigs are cute and everything, but natural hair and all the styles you can do it are always more awe-inspiring to me.
Hey, i think lip gloss was refering to the fact that 4b 4c tend to shrink a lot, so unless you stretch the hair then will probably not look long, or that's what i understand at least when i see the tik tok
@@1rat4belle There are people who have a lot of shrinkage but their hair curl pattern can be 3c, 4a,4b. This proves the Andre Walker hair chart has many flaws...
Like yeah WW "just brush their hair and they're done" but they also have to wash their hair almost every damn day cause it becomes greasy by the end of the day. And when they're out the shower they spend time styling their hair, just like us; blow drying, or flat ironing (even tho their hair is already straight), or trying to curl it but the curls won't hold, adding extensions cause their hair's too thin, or teasing cause no volume etc etc. (and this is not me hating, these are the complaints I've noticed many WW have about their hair)... The grass is always greener. Many BW complain about "the time & effort it takes to take care of it" but they wouldn't mind putting in effort if their hair was straighter/silkier. Same way you see some of them spend 1h+ putting on make up, or installing wigs... Enough with the excuses & dishonesty.

Very inspiring journey girlie!! I hope more of us can come to this realisation 🙏

@@RosalyMuji Try using the Lois Hair Chart. There's no hair hierarchy with this hair chart, plus the hair chart goes into more depth.

I totally agree!
I truly admire your content. Please keep up the good work to help BW to love their hair and wear it with pride!!
Thank you so much! Will do! :)

@@mariepearl-harbour2335 yeah, i see people with hair types that don't fit in any hair on that chart, and the thing with the shrinkage is very real
