    I'm now wearing a rabbit mask while using Bitwig, and everything sounds way better. Seriously though, @Alex Reid, this is a banger of a tutorial. Please keep it up.

    One specific technical tip with samplers in a drum machine: if you change a parameter on one sampler you can then right click and apply the change to all others.
    My most common example is if I sliced a melodic loop and want to change the pitch. Adjust the pitch on one slice, right click, update all others to the same

    The last thing with multiple chains that contain exactly the same instrument playing different chords involves redundancy. As long as we're not talking about backups or fail-safe fallbacks, you should always avoid redundancy. For every little change in the synth, you would have to copy the synth to all the other chains too.
    Instead, just have the synth in just one chain and the other chains just have the midi effect. In the chain with the synth, place a note receiver for every MIDI only chain, choose those chains as source, and unmute the input. Those note receivers should sit between the synth and the midi effects of that chain.
    Now one synth plays all the notes and you don't always have to copy it around. Of course, you have to check if the polyphony setting is high enough. If youre using chords with 4 notes it should be at least 8.

    I did not know about the drum machine slicer. Very nice.
    In addition, for the oro chord idea, I will try to wire it up so that you can set all keys and scales with two control knobs, so they can be quickly altered. Some interesting ideas to play with!

    thats an interesting take on the virtual drum pad. usually its just samples or all the same synth engine each with its own voice settings (like drumaxx) really interesting that it can handle mutlipe synth engines in one go like that

    Is there a way to automate the pitch of each sound on a piano roll? I love the possibilities of the MIDI sequencer for drums, but I'd like to have a way to alter/automate the pitch of individual drum elements.

    • @AlexReidStudios
      @AlexReidStudios  Год назад

      Hmm, you coud use note effects as the arpeggiator on every slot, or modulators to affect the pitch, but on the piano roll I'm not sure...

    Regarding the "pro chords" section - it wouldn't be necessary to duplicate that many instances of the synth. You could just route the midi from the drum machine into a single track with one synth.

    Can you send the multi out chords to an ext midi instrument, like my MC707 for instance? It would be great if i could record complex chord seq from bitwig to MC, just have to figure out all the routing and chords i like?

    • @cyrex_inque
      @cyrex_inque Год назад +2

      @@AlexReidStudios The Drum Machine (currently) does not allow the note data of the Multi Note to go out (since it is a “note in” / “audio out” container). So you need an instance of whatever instrument you want to trigger per Drum Machine pad.
      If instead you use the “Note FX selector” container (which is “notes in” / “notes out”) and modulate the selector with the “Pitch-12” modulator, you can put it in front of any chain without the need for duplication. So only a single ext midi instrument instance is required in that setup.

    • @AlexReidStudios
      @AlexReidStudios  Год назад +1

      @@cyrex_inque Yeah, ended up with the same as you say, note fx selector would be the way to go

    Biggest downside of drum machine in Bitwig is: No individual Tracks for the Samples. You can Alt+Drag a Sample to a new Track, but this isnt the same as having full Track Control of the Drum Machine itself. This is a Very basic feature which is missing.
