I got paid $2.11 a hour to be a garbage man in 1978 before my enlistment started ... it is hard, nasty work, but will build character in you like no other.
I agree, it sucks 😅. Especially in Michigan winter. The hardest job I've had would probably be tree work. Imagine having a bobcat and nobody in any city in central Michigan will allow it in their yard but wants 25 hard woods removed 😅. If you've never put 3 or 4 ft pieces of hardwood on your back just to walk it 80 yards, up hill to a chipper, and do it over and over, you haven't lived lol. I lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks of starting that job. I ate whatever I wanted and still lost weight. At 42 I'm using my head and not my back now but I'm eat up with arthritis and have a torn meniscus in my right knee. Doing hard labor from the age of 13 made me mentally and physically tough but it takes a toll on your body. I'm not that old but physically I feel it.

I own a business and the Male Advisor would have to go do morning audits. Had a female employee that wanted more money and swore she could do his job (She disliked him, like hated that advisor). I gave her the assignment. 2 weeks in when it would rain she stopped doing the early morning audits. When I asked her about it she complained about the rain. When I asked her who was doing the audit she told me what employee was doing it. She basically got a young kid to do the morning audits. I told her that's not going to work as now I am paying 2 employees to do a simple task and that morning assignment is a financial loss. She advised she refuses to engage in environmentally unsafe sceneries. Basically she felt doing these audits in the rain (She had boots and rain jackets etc along with an F150.) was an unsafe work environment. As you can see It's a blue collared job. Also had another female Quit and went on Unemployment just in time for the Summer heat. And I say this because she told a few Male workers this.

Allowing women to work in fields like nursing and education, but still barring them from most other employment. So yeah, women were basically forced out of all these jobs and it's only relatively recently that these fields are reluctantly opening up to accepting them. So that's a major reason why we see low participation rates.

They already do get higher pay. If you count the same hours and same jobs, women make an average 6% more than men. For example, male doctors work on average 400 more hours per year than female doctors. If you subtracted these 400 hours from men's pay, women doctors make more than male doctors.
I used to think people complaining didn't have full time jobs. But that kind of offer "I can get you a job in garbage disposal" is just on point. But when you look into workplace deaths in male dominated jobs, the deaths are highly disproportional. My head was nearly smashed by a falling piece of power equipment. Had a small cut at the top of my head where it grazed me. I came back to work the next day like nothing happened. I don't remember any women coworkers at that place. If there was, they were very few.

I own a business and the Male Advisor would have to go do morning audits. Had a female employee that wanted more money and swore she could do his job (She disliked him, like hated that advisor). I gave her the assignment. 2 weeks in when it would rain she stopped doing the early morning audits. When I asked her about it she complained about the rain. When I asked her who was doing the audit she told me what employee was doing it. She basically got a young kid to do the morning audits. I told her that's not going to work as now I am paying 2 employees to do a simple task and that morning assignment is a financial loss. She advised she refuses to engage in environmentally unsafe sceneries. Basically she felt doing these audits in the rain (She had boots and rain jackets etc along with an F150.) was an unsafe work environment. As you can see It's a blue collared job.
Also had another female Quit and went on Unemployment just in time for the Summer heat. And I say this because she told a few Male workers this.

People should be paid for job they do, not gender
