    When the Spanish arrived in 1532 the valley of the Rimac river where today sits the city of Lima was full of forests and agricultural land with multiple water channels that are still used today to water many of the parks in the city. Also there where around 80 big huacas and pyramids like Pucllana but sadly only around 10 have survived. Good videos ¡

    Traffic in Lima is so bad. It is due to the economic progress. Even though it is been built tons of bridges + viaducts for cars and busses , it is only getting worst

    • @ThePassportCouple
      @ThePassportCouple  2 года назад +7

      Traffic is pretty bad in Lima, but Alicia grew up in the Los Angeles area and before this, we worked and met in Southern California so we are very much used to it 🚗🚙🚕🚓And progress is always a good thing and it sounds like they are at least making attempts to mitigate some of the traffic. Hopefully it gets better with time 🤞Thanks Carlos 🙌

    Another great video! You got the blue skies for the visit to the centre and quiet too! You seem to have a talent for swerving the crowds! Great scenes at night too and I think you have great promise as travel vloggers so I have subscribed! If you go back to Peru, try and visit the beach town of Mollendo (my mum is from there...) you will be the first English speaking vloggers to cover it and your video will go viral - you will love the place if you like the beach! Nice town centre, loads of ceviche, peaceful and safe! Have a great time in Thailand and good luck with the channel!

      @@ThePassportCouple I am looking forward to your video on Mollendo, no English language vlogger has done a video on any of the beach towns of southern Peru - Mollendo, Camana or Ilo - beautiful, safe places with amazing surf and excellent seafood - as you're both Californians - you'll do those places justice with your videos and I know you can bring these towns to an English speaking audience - people know about and have done videos on Mancora and Huanchaco but no-one has done a video on the beach towns of southern Peru - I hope you get to be the first and you'll make my year when you do! There are quite a few vids in Spanish on those towns so look forward to one day seeing them on your channel!

    hey! loveeee the videos keep up the good work! i hope you guys can answer my question, i am going to peru with my boyfriend in a couple weeks and both my parents (born in peru) told me that i shouldn't bring a professional camera because of how dangerous it may be to carry around. have you guys had any issues with your camera or do you think it will be fine to bring the camera to certain places? again, great videos! can't wait to see where you are off to next!!

    • @ThePassportCouple
      @ThePassportCouple  2 года назад +4

      Hi Suki 👋Thank you for your amazing comment, and kind words, we really appreciate it 🙌 This is always a tough question for us to answer since everybody's experience is so different. That said, we will do our best and speak to our experience. First, we would defer to your parents since they were born (and I assume grew up) in Peru whereas we were only there for five weeks. With that in mind, our experience in Peru was great. We traveled throughout Peru, with our gear, and never once felt unsafe with it. There is another couple we know that did the same, but for three months. Even still, there are a few precautions we take when we travel. I will share them with you, but take it or leave it, it is totally up to you. When we stay in Airbnb's, we always ensure there is 24 hour door security. We do this everywhere, including our own country, the U.S. If we stay at a hotel, we ensure it is with a reputable brand and try to ensure the room has a safe. Typically, with the exception of this video, we do not carry our camera gear at night and just use our phones if we need to record something. This is just a personal preference. And lastly, if you are ever concerned, or in doubt, about having your gear with you when exploring, we recommend hiring a guide. Simply put, it just helps to be with a local. I know this is a long answer, long, but we hope it helps. Let us know if you have any other questions, otherwise, we hope you have an amazing time in Peru 🧳✈️🇵🇪 It is an amazing country.

      With Lima, be careful where you take anything expensive - I would say anywhere west of cercado (except for Brena) is safe with your camera in the daytime but you will be fine if you stick to Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro - other places are also fine like Jesus Maria, parts of Lince, Pueblo Libre, parts of San Miguel, Magdalena - the only thing I would suggest with Lima is try and limit the expensive camera during the day and to places where serenazgo are around places not to take your camera - La Victoria (saying that, there are restaurants and places worth visiting there like La Gamarra) San Juan de Lurigancho, Comas, El Agustino etc. Outside of Lima it tends to be safer but if you stick to the nicer parts and during the daytime - Lima is safe enough. Hope that helps.
