with all the fad diets around, I appreciate how straightforward and kind this advice is. whenever I hear about fad diets, like intermittent fasting or keto, it always seems so counterintuitive to me. being thoughtful about food and mindful of your hunger and what foods you eat is important but diets seem doomed to fail.
Hello and namaste Rukmini-ji. I am a registered dietitian with 20 years of experience in nutrition overall. Thank you for providing an excellent overview of good nutrition. Yes, it is so important to eat well, but also maintain variety, moderation and balance in the diet. Every person is different and has their own unique metabolism. I have also recommended Ayurvedic nutrition concepts. Your videos are beautiful and wonderful to watch. Thank you again!
@@dancerukmini Very helpful! There was this one instagram post I thought of today, probably one of your stories that you shared sometime back with a weeks log of practice and conditioning. It was super inspiring and included a long run, yoga sessions, and practicing full margams in the week. It was a story posting so not there anymore, but if you could share a week log like that again that would be amazing! :-) Very inspiring for students like myself of Bharatanatyam!
The best diet plan??? Eat with Measure. Drink for Pleasure. A balanced diet in limited quantity is the best. My Yoga Guru used to say, 1/4 of the stomach can have solid food 1/4 the stomach with liquids. 1/4th stomach can have air. The 1/4 must be left to help digestion. Never eat till the end of the food pipe. We sit in chairs and would never realize that we are full unlike our ancestors who used to sit on the floor and eat. When the stomach becomes full, they can't reach for the food on the leaf or plate in front. Automatic monitoring of over eating.👁️👁️
Hugely valuable...If not for dance and physical fitness, sheer unblemished radiance of pristine beauty of Rukmini should encourage others to follow her advice 😎
The brain is only ~ 20'' away from the stomach. But the signal sent by the stomach to the brain takes 20 minutes! So whether we have eaten satisfactorily will be known by the brain only after 20 minutes. If you nibble for 20 minutes you will feel fuller and the stomach will be happier than You may gobble for 20 minutes non stop - without realizing that you are over eating and your stomach may still feel unsatisfied! There is saying in Tamil " norungath thindraal nooru vayathu!" meaning "One who eats his food after chewing well, will live for 100 years!" The fast food had made eating faster than ever before and the digestion more difficult! Here the children are given 9 minutes to eat lunch in the school, maintaining social distancing. Needless to say they are forced to gobble up the lunch without chewing! Poor poor children!
An octogenarian who has been researching into food, health, agriculture, environment and their linkages I support what you said. i think you set a fine example to youngsters. God bless you
I feel like mindful eating and being kind to yourself when you eat 'bad' food once in a while is the best form of diet, because it encourages you to eat a balanced diet and not restrict yourself. That is particularly helpful for me to remember because my self control degrades with the amount of restrictions I put on myself. So leaving myself open to eat whatever I please has made me choose healthier foods instead of just junk foods.
Good morning Rukmini Vijayakumar Ji 🇮🇳🌹🌻🌅 Now present I am Staying My Daughter home Banglore Everything Everythought Everythink Good Morning You are My °Celsius Thank you 🇮🇳 Jai Bharath.
You are vegetarian , I am too. I’m very glad you confirm this kind of life style is good for a dancer/ performer. Thank you 💕 I appreciate your work and magic you express
Thanks so much Rukmini for these really meaningful and illuminating videos! Really appreciate your efforts! Please continue to make such videos for us!
A nice overview of nutrition. One thing to add is to be aware of body telling us things. It is necessary to pay attention to body telling us something we are doing right or not doing right before it is too late. Consult with nutritionist when in doubt. Ayurveda has an excellent system of health monitoring by visual and other examination one can do in the morning that can tell us any imbalance or dosha in vata, pitta, or kapha qualities or humors. Knowledge of this further helps in moderating the diet for the day. Yes it is important to take care of health to do all the wonderful things:) A discussion on diet in general and Bharata Natyam in particular is incomplete without mention of the guna or quality that is essential. This is sattva guna. This is where the apparatus of the mind becomes alert, aware, clear, able to concentrate, have patience, and the qualities required to excel and eventually transcend the material existence thru this medium. Sattvic diet is always fresh, vegetarian and includes the many foods Rukmini - a live example- mentions in this video:) Good presentation! Be well.
Rukmini ji... You should teach undeveloped people all around INDIA. I dont know you as a person. but I see you are HUMAN . There are not many HUMANS left in this crazy world.
This lady here is a very very feminine woman, only a man like Krsna who is 100% male or someone like me who is 90% male can compliment her feminine energy. If you reading this, close your eyes and take few ddeep breath and you shall feel the energy uplifting you.
