Hands down to you Mergim! Ang galing mo! 🎉
Damn Mergim really living like the locals! Now this is the content that people from abroad wanna see the daily life of the community
the guy who assisted you is smart and well informed
Im a foreigner whose been living in the Philippines I regularly use the Mrt from mandulyong to Taguig, My experience using the mrt especially to Guadalupe during rush hour is a no no. 😂 Personal space becomes non existent.
This is epic bruh! The chairman galavanting Manila "OG" style. You rock man!
Awesome bro.
Congratulations! You survived the rush hour commute!
You're just positively delightful Mergim. Just be careful among crowds & public transport! ❤👏👍
Love this vlog, no other foreign vlogger has done this before.
Agree with you
Salamat Ambassador that was amazing and informative! Ingats from Houston.
Well done Mergim 😊 It’s always good to ask the guards/locals. If I were you I would buy the beep card at any LRT n MRT stations for 30 pesos. It’s a reloadable contactless smart card that allows you to pay on trains, buses, and selected convenient stores. No need for cash or hunt for coins to pay at the cashier. Just use your beep card. However it expires in 4 years.
Yeah beep is good for regular people
@@rakucranel4481beep can be used by anyone. I have it 😊
Congratulations Mergim! I’ve never watched a foreign vlogger do the things you do so well! Just like going down that cave in Antipolo, what an adventure! And, boy, you are the nicest traveller ever.❤
I love watching these kind of activities , pretty nostalgic for me commuting around Manila. You have amazingly immersed yourself the Filipino way. You're so authentic.
In hindsight and given its rush hour traffic, taking public transpo is the best option to go around metro manila. Commuting is better because it involves people interactions which personally i like doing. Nice work mergim. More success.
Hands down 🙌🏼 Most of us, don't do that. It's very tiring and needs to go a long process. We usually take Angkas ride, Car Pool App or grab going to BGC 😅 Most filipinos are tired and exhausted already, we wanted to be home, be with our children as early as possible using the most convenient and fastest means of transportation, especially with those people coming from the south.
Mergim -- Work for you but so much fun for me. A very useful video.
Kudos to you Mergim!!! 🙌 You’re better at navigating Metro Manila than most of us locals 😅 Very informative content 👍🏻 Because not a lot of Filipinos know how to commute specially if we’re used to bringing our own car. I’m also impressed at that walkway infront of the post office 😍 It’s well lit, clean and green and those black posts with rails adds an oomph to that view of the body of water. Kudos to the City of Manila now! Im👏 Didn’t know they use xray machines now at the train stations like the one at the airport entrance 👍🏻 Appreciate you for showing us around! 🇵🇭
Agreed on the cleanliness along the walkways beside the river. And the plants are nice too.
Hope it can be maintained that way. 🎉
I think you mean “hats off to you.” 😉
@@mochapoundcake Thank you 🙏
Mergim mastering the transpo system
Beautiful sunset shots
You are very adventurous my friend. I would be lost and helpless going through the public transportation in my own country after decades living abroad. Congratulations. Enjoy and have a great time.😊😊😊
Ang galing naman!👍👏👏
commuting: it's more traffic and crowded in the Philippines hahahaha good video!
When going any long distance from one end of Manila to the other, the MRT, LRT1, and LRT2 lines are faster and more reliable between 6am and 10pm. The other option is the EDSA Carousel buses but some don't have stops at certain stations so you would have to walk kilometer-long distances sometimes. Just ask the security guards for the best directions where to go. They are given briefings on the vicinity and the various transport options.
Traveling across Metro Manila using the RTs and jeepneys was a fun experience but also draining when I did it every day in the early 2000s.
Again, this shows how inefficient the current public transport system in Metro Manila. You have to walk a long way to LRT 1 Carriedo station, get off at EDSA station to hop to the MRT line to get to Ayala or Guadalupe which is near BGC. Then there's another Jeepney or bus ride just to get to BGC.
There are ongoing projects like the Metro Manila Subway, but that won't be completely operational 'til 2029. 😓
I think he came from Binondo so
It’s a long walk via Escolta unless he was just near LRT Carriedo. Same in Japan or Singapore, it’s a more on walking to find the station and sometimes confusing.
A little improvement as some trains in LRT1 are now brand new like trains coaches in Singapore. Maybe what needs to be improved is the train stations.
Then the MRT needs new trains. The connecting bridge in LRT1 to LRT2 are now rehabilitated with design.
What needs to be improved is the MRT train stations and the connecting bridge in LRT1 and MRT.
Mergim needs more subscribers, the production level and editing is on another level. I have seen some youtubers with like 500k-1m subscribers that's just bad editing. Mergim's better.
good job sir mergim! Ive learned something from your vlog ....thank you!
I was a commuter for the longest time. Your vlog is informative for those who choose cheap travel within manila.
Thank you Mergim for the tour.Very interesting to see places which I never seen for years .
MRT has no EDSA station name/stop because it is running along edsa but LRT1 has edsa station. The mrt station you jumped in was Taft station.
You are an awesome guide! You won't get lost in Manila, know your way around the city.😊
To foreigners, using these mode of public transportation in Manila will be quite an adventure and experience for them. But if you're a local working in Metro Manila or a student commuter, this is hell on earth. Daily commuting will take a toll on you. 😢
I clapped when you reached Uptown! So daring..
Appreciate the effort ❤
From LRT-1 Carriedo, you can get down at Edsa/Taft, ride the MRT-3 to the Ayala station, go down the stairs and walk to the BGC shuttle bus station at the corner of Edsa and McKinley Road. That's the route I take. Enjoy.
There is a new terminal of BGC-Ayala Makati Bus Terminal in the new Ayala Edsa Makati Terminal too. It's Besides SM Makati along EDSA.
This is the best route I think. The one u take.
Yes. This is more convenient.
Guadalupe stadion sya bumaba
MRT/LRT aren't as bad during non rush hour times/Sundays, that whole MRT line is Edsa, if you came from the Pasay station and going to Guadalupe, you're going from southern Metro Manila to the North. It seems you prefer getting off in Guadalupe rather than Ayala, personally I prefer Ayala when going to BGC, maybe where you live is closer to that route you took. You're really exploring the capital, whereas it was mostly the provinces in the past, you're really adapting.
Same I personally prefer taking a bus going to BGC fron Ayala too
I'd give this video a double like if only I could. Keep it coming.
Hi Mergim. Thanks for the video. It’s a good guide to get around Manila. Metro Manila is beautiful. It just needs more trees. If not enough space just plant in pots. Trees will take in the carbon dioxide.
Thank u mergin ill be in manila this oct 24 ill be staying in bgc tnx foe this tips ill try this route when im there
Nice adventure Mergim .. keep safe
The easiest and fastest way to go around Metro Manila the capital city of Philippines is riding in modern train of LRT & MRT so fast and easy, enjoy Manila mergim.
Great stuff as always man
from the place where you are you can take pasig river ferry to guadalupe that's the best way
Hi Mergim! Me and my family from Davao recently stayed in Manila the previous week, and we have attempted to take the MRT/LRT from our condo in Sta. Mesa to BGC. We started from the V. Mapa station in Line 2 across SM City Sta. Mesa, then alighting in Recto, transferring towards Doroteo Jose in Line 1 then heading to EDSA station, then transferring again to Line 3 to Taft station, then alighting at Guadalupe station, and taking the modern jeepney to BGC. It was a grueling 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking and climbing stairs just to reach BGC. Worth the adventure though and experiencing all the commuter train lines in the metro.
Thanks for sharing your experience too!
you took 3 trains when you could have ridden two. From LRT2 go to Cubao station and then MRT to Guadaluper or Ayala
@@jovertr9716 We tried to avoid the rush from V Mapa to Araneta so we took the longer route.
very informative, great job Mergim!!
You took the guadalupe route to really show the trasport system. In your previous vlogs you had taken the ayala route to bgc. Metro manila public transport can be exhausting , unconfortable and over crowded at times but it can take you up to the door step or very close to your destination, with tricycles, pedicabs and motor bikes.
thanks for this Mergin! It's been ages since I last rode LRT and MRT since I bought a motorcycle to travel around manila and I'm honestly surprised with the improvement of the public transport specially during rush hour. I used to take around 2-3 hrs to get home during rush hours that I usually render overtime to avoid the traffic. It's great to see that the public transportation improved so much that people wouldn't go through hell that we used to experience pre pandemic.
way to go mergim!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
There's another way to get to BGC as John said. Take the Ayala MRT then ask someone how to get to BGC bus station. Just near jollibee.
this was fun and kinda smooth actually, taking jeeps would be more intense. hehe
Hey, i am residing just 5mins walk away from MRT South Terminal at Pasay there, Mergim. Hehe. I wish I could have met you and treated you for a good dinner there. Hahaha. Next time, maybe. 🙌💞🎉🎊
Recognizing transport hubs goes a long way in navigating Metro Manila via public transport.
Guadalupe itself is an example of the hub, as it has access via edsa for the Bus and MRT 1, and transport terminals to Taguig, Manila(via JP rizal to Taft, or Gil Puyat) and Pateros.
Gil Puyat intersection + LRT station grants access to Baclaran and Quiapo or Divisoria and beyond ,via Taft Ave, and also some provincial bus terminals if you want to go to the southern provinces via Bus.
Recto/Doroteo Jose grants access to both LRT 1 and LRT 3, as well as provincial buses going north. Cubao/Araneta also provides the same options this time intersecting with LRT 3 and LRT 2.
These are just a few examples, as many recorgnized stops i.e. places listed on the buses and jeepney are also hubs or convegence points to different parts of Metro Manila, plut it helps that they are not scheduled stops due to deregulation of transport franchises...
600 pesos for a Grab sounded a bit much at first. But not after watching your journey. Filipinos are great! I do enjoy riding the jeepneys. You can meet a lot of great locals.
Awesome video, Mergim! Good job! 👏👏👏🫰🫰🫰
during rush hour, public transport is always faster and cheaper.
but personal space flies out the window.
most of the public transport here in Philippines have air-conditioning.
you just have to choose the right one.
Some things improved in someway! Good to know these trains were re conditioned. Safe travels mate !
i just realized you were wearing your sunglasses at night time. lol
It’s a good commute, saves money when you use the public transportation.
Dang! I really missed Mla! The food, places and the traffic jam he!he! Appreciate all your hardwork just to give us viewers a great content..keep up the good work dude and one day you will reap what you sow
It looks like you're getting used to the crowd, heavy traffic, and the heat?😅!
Take lrt to pasay terminal-- then, go mrt at pasay to ayala-- at ayala, go to the side and take fort bus--goes around bgc to marketmrkt
When I was in Manila I usually take the train LRT & MRT lines to avoid traffic & save much time 😱😱
best way to BGC if your from guadalupe is to ride mrt then alight at Ayala station then there is a bus there going to BGC 😊
You have the money to take on Grab. Yet you took the longer, inconvenient and harder route. But you made it through. You're richer in experience. Respect.
If i want to go to Chinatown from BGC that's what I'll do. Usually i take grab but for adventure I'll take the public transport. Thanks Mergim
Oh wow... I would surely get lost in that area. Brave one Mergim.
It seems to have gotten better over the years. Nice immersive vlog!
More vlogs in Manila pls! I know it's not as presentable as BGC or Makati but there's a lot of culture in Manila that non-Filipinos want to see. Take care Mergim the explorer 😊❤
Next time, from Edsa, stop at Ayala station and take the BGC bus. You don't have to go all the way to Guadalupe.
Those buses were built by Filipinos and they also call it the new "jeep" although it looks like a mini bus. I'm a 5'8 Filipino and can fit to those buses but not friendly for 6 footers like you Mergim. What I'm having a hard time taking are the tricycles wherein the openings are really tight. That's one thing when Filipinos build bodies of vehicles they really tend to be tight not taking into consideration of big people. I'm so proud of you really getting the rudiments of a typical Filipino way if life. More power Mergim.
That sunset is everything!!!
Most Filipinos don't want to undergo the hassles of transportation and transferring from one transportation to another. That is why you will hear most saying why not take a taxi or a grab instead. Less hussle and less worries. You just sit and relax and pay. Hehe. At most, you need to take 2-3 transportation to get from your point A to your point B. There is no such direct transportation to your exact destination here in manila. Ask the regular worker/commuters. Not the rich or middle class who can always afford to take a grab with their budgets. Hehehe
No add skipping in support of your vlog..
Yeah on your left is going to Divisoria when your in that 7-11 side of the Post office. Other train are less AC, its all coz of old and its narrow unlike the train in MRT 2 going to Antipolo...just always go to greenhills if im you, to prevent some hassle 🙏🤙🇵🇭
Great experience🚄🚌 & keep safe😇🙏
Explore the different MRT lines. ✅👌👍❤️ (joy ride)
Wow thats a mission and half mate....😮....
Hey Mergim, it would be best if you tried the EDSA Carousel bus (PH version of BRT system, that exclusive lane in the middle along EDSA), it's even faster than MRT. It travels the entire EDSA from Monumento in Caloocan to PITX Terminal in Paranaque, which is around 45 km. one way, the going back like a Carousel. That must be exciting, very fast during rush hours, very organized as well. Please, can't wait to see it.
thanks mergim. going thru the guada mall brings back alot of memories for me. thank you
If you mean like what jeeps to take if you want to go from one end of metro manila to the other, that could be a handful to remember for most people, since those jeeps have different routes and such.
If you mean just in general, taking the train during non-rush hours is usually the best option. Taking any public transpo during rush hour is just something I do not wish on anyone.
@your route: Alternatively, from EDSA/Taft MRT station, you could've gotten off Ayala station and rode the BGC buses that has an East and West BGC route.
Less walking on your part since the bus terminal is directly below the Ayala MRT station.
@@El_.5794 maybe he's just more familiar with that route.
to go to bgc from edsa the best way is the ayala bgc bus terminal not guadalupe
Congratulations! I would do the same going to BGC. Just be very vigilant at Guadalupe bridge/over pass there are a lot o pick pockets cuz its kindda dark.
Make sure it's Ayala becuase there's a bus terminal they might go to bgc
I miss that place. I grew up going there. Our old house is just near that place.
Mergim try also the other line going to Antipolo. Take Gaudalupe MRT, get off Cubao MRT. Walk inside Gateway Mall to LRT Line 2, take east (right) route to Antipolo and take it from there...
Hey, that's what I'm telling you. Just under that LRT station, you will find the old restaurants. Along Carriedo and the other is Ronquilo Street.
Sta Cruz. Avenida Rizal. Palanca brings you to Quiapo. Plaza Lacson. Escolta, the old 'Ayala'
Keep safe
The bag checkpoint before boarding the train was because back in 2001 a series of bombings happened on the lrt and mrt trains that until now bomb checking became the norm.
thanks for the video
Since I live in Pasay and my house is just near libertad station… commuting isn’t hard for me but going to BGC is draining for me bec of the traffic and not a lot of options for transport
17:20 “wala nang wash wash yan”😂
Goodmorning 😘Mergim! I guess the right route for you to go back home. By the way, it’s museum month free entrance to national museum. You will probably see “The Master’s” masterpiece and important artifacts 😊 We both have the same vibes Mergim, maybe someday we might cross each other😊
I use and memorize prominent landmarks in Metro Manila in order to find my way through Metro Manila because, sometimes, the street names in Metro Manila are too small to read from my distance.
The sunset is so nice
MRT and LRT in the Philippines is much more safe.,Compare the to subway and lrt here in North America. It's because MRT and LRT in Pinas they have Armed security guards and they installed XRay Machine and metal detectors to protect the riding public.
yes, because of some bombing histories...
During Rush Hour, the LRT becomes too crowded of passengers. During Rush Hour, I ride in the air-conditioned F.X., instead, when I'm traveling in Metro Manila.
I ride in the air-conditioned bus or air-conditioned F.X. when I travel to the rural areas.
I seldom ride in the taxi car because riding in the taxi car is too expensive.
daily upload, on a roll!
that was fun! 🙂 #GoLocal
Nice vlogs - it reminds me of my stay in manila😊😮😅
