In July 1970, I had a change of duty stations, from My ship in Seattle to NAS San Diego. But first I drove home to Chicago on a 30 day leave. I had a red 1959 Corvette, with an eight track casette, and two tapes. Crosby, stills Nash and Young, Deja Vu, and Anne Murray Snow Bird. By the time I arrived in Chicago, I knew all the words to the album Snow Bird and loved Anne. She just never knew. Still do.
Tonight, listening to this song, I realised again why I love Anne Murray’s singing. It is so archetypically invitational - warm, relaxed and evoking the possibility of belonging. The possibility of being known and welcomed. I wrote about such a feeling once: PAN-DEMIC Children can't survive, as children, on their own. Which isn't about food, or a cupboard for their clothes, or a name to be known by and called by. Children who know the safety of aloneness (and the loneliness, once safe), may go to live in Never-Neverland: forever and never children. Where they may pray, unbeknown to themselves, for a god named Wendy. Thanks, Anne
I grew up hearing this song, played by my old man - who was born and raised in Glace Bay, and told me how much this reminded him of his childhood there, summer nights on Mira Gut. He's been gone nearly 25 years, but I chose to believe he's gone to "be with them again".
I sure miss Ann Murry singing her songs. It was such a pleasure to come across this music video of a old song I learned to sing in high school it brings back some of my favorite memories that I treasure so much
@@Huffdanny-p2n I've in southern California and it's monsoon season here. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where summertime temperatures and relative humidity were the same number. Thanks for posting this. It is a real hidden gem of hers and has been a song I've enjoyed for a long time. You can feel the love of home and the maritime in every note and syllable.
Out on the Mira the people are kind They’ll treat you to home brew and help you unwind And if you are broken, they’ll see that you mend I wish I was with them again.
Well I was looking for the full version. This is not it. But this cut short version is done very well. Love Anne's voice...she could do the whole song justice too.
At first I thought it was a man singing. She has a rather low voice. I like the song minus the witches and warlocks stupid line. Not my favorite version but the song is nice. Celtic Thunder does it the best.
My grandpa passed a week ago and this was one of his favourite songs, thank you for bring him years of happiness
The greatest Country Music since 40 years by happysun... Canadian Senora Mrs. Anne Murray, fabulous! It's love...

Cool story!
How is it possible for someone to write such a beautiful song as this song ?
Anne Murray had/ has a superior voice and great interpretation of any song she sang.
