Hi, I am 60 yrs old, I have been a licensed pilot since I was 16. I enjoy your videos. You can be my instructor any day. I was always taught that you pull back on the yoke to go up and that you pull all the way back to go down, LOL. You are an asset to the aviation community!

I really appreciate how you articulate things…a lost art. At 68, I’m not sure if flying ( other than FS 2020) is in my future as my sailing is already expensive and (pleasantly) time consuming. There are many similarities in flying and sailing principles. However, since I’ve been in awe of planes and flight forever…maybe it’s time. Thanks for doing such a great job with these. And full disclaimer, I only kept watching initially because Ninja looks Exactly like my precious Marvin who slept next to my head for 15 years! Great job. Thanks Emilie!

Oh man, that Attitude / Power - Speed / Altitude rule completely changed the game for me almost in an instant. I used to have huge problems approaching and landing and just did 6 traffic patterns with take off and landing almost no problem.

Wow, what a great lesson! I only had a very basic understanding about the relationship between power, attitude and trim. After watching your lesson, I feel like I understand it so much better. You are a wonderful teacher! I just tried my first circuit after watching your video, and it was my smoothest landing to date. I was in complete control and touched down exactly where I wanted. I even had real-world weather turned on and was fighting a bit of crosswind and still set the plane down right on the centerline.
Thank you so much for such an amazing instructional video.

Hi Emilie. Again loving the tutorials. I’ve been flying flight sim since MSFS 2004. Just with this tutorial, it showed me I’ve been I’ve been landing using the incorrect procedure. The Power, Attitude & Trim info was so useful. I practiced it in the Cessna, then did the same circuit at my airport here in Brisbane in the A320. OMG. It made manual landing in the jet so much easier. Finally getting consistent soft (butter) landings. Thanks for doing these tutorials.

If you cannot get trackir, a combination of opentrack on your PC and smoothtrack on your mobile does face tracking very nicely and for very little money for the mobile app ... In case anyone is interested ....

The first pattern turns were amazingly coordinated standard rate turns. Real pro stuff Emilie.
For airports not aligned with the cardinal points (N,S,E,W) use the DG to glance at your 90 degree heading prior to turning. Peterborough 27 has PAPI lights which are great for understanding what being on the 3-degree glideslope looks like.
One thing that helped me early on was to "fly the numbers". Understanding the specific aircraft with flap configuration, what airspeed would give me the proper rate of descent.

The engine characteristics in FS don't help with this. One of the things I really hoped they'd fix in this version (vs. FSX and earlier) is the slow response of piston engines, but it didn't happen. Idle to full power in FS takes 3-4 seconds (longer if using the keyboard for a throttle as there's no longer a dedicated "full throttle" key) but in a real airplane it takes less than a second if you move the lever reasonably fast.

Great video, really enjoying the series. It remind me of an old trick i think one of my instructors taught me always treat the aiming point as if you don't flare at all that would be the spot on the runway you would land, aim for it after you pass it round out use the ground effect to help the aircraft settle and flare just enough keeping the nose to the horizon to put it down on the runway.

Great video!! Really liked part about the circuit pattern and on the downwind leg keeping runway half a wing strut away. Hardest part for me is keeping headings correct for down wind, base , and final. Also when transitioning into the circuit pattern when approaching airport. Just started using flight simulator and I am really impressed with the scenery and able to pick out landmarks for different parts of circuit pattern. Doing a lot of flying out of Brampton airport.

wow wow wow woooooowwww.... much information to my brain Emilie! hahaha...
You have a good pedagogical methodology, it is difficult for me to follow you in parts (I understand "some" of English, but the translation is not always the best), so I have to repeat each section several times until I fully understand what you are explaining. It is not the same when it has already been assimilated (your case) as when the one who knows little (like me) imagines what happens. Today, where you explained in minute 7 about attitude and power, suddenly "there was light for me" and I understood what I was doing wrong and why it was difficult for me to land. I am very grateful for the time you take to explain us. Thank you very much and greetings from the South (Patagonia) Argentina !. Daniel

In Soviet Russia we used to call these flight regimes, 1st for normal flight where losing airspeed leads to excessive power that tends to accelerate the aircraft, and 2nd for landing or near-stall conditions where losing airspeed leads to power deficiency that tends to decelerate the aircraft further :)

Thank you very much Emilie for another great video. Unfortunately I don’t have a pc yet, but I’m working on that atm. Can’t wait to fly with this simulator😁
