Of course it allows that. You have to be able to do that in order to replace the cluster should the cluster fail which isn't that uncommon on some cars. It wont change the mileage in any of the computer's or control modules. That's how people get caught.
The xtool ip616 i good enough 300 bucks and basically get a mini copy of earlier snap on scanners but updated. It's actually pretty good, considering i was able to do injector coding on a honda when the workshops own 5 grand scanner failed to communicate at work
I'm betting it only changes it in the instrument cluster. Useful if you need to swap out a dead one. Although if it supports ECU/PCM and BCM replacement programming you could still falsify the odometer fully. So as of now what bidirectional scan tool would you recommend for the home mechanic? Pretty much only work on my own, and family's junk. Would like to stay in the $400-$600usd range if possible. Also my condolences on Mr. Tom. He was actually the reason I started following you. My Tuxedo passed in June after 17 years of a good life.
Thank you he was a amazing cat I did adopted a 6 year female tuxedo this past fall. She has been very comical since moving in. As far as bidirectional scanners good in that price range is a huge gamble. I am a huge fan of Autel as I purchased the 906bt a few years ago and it’s been amazing but they do have no-direction scanners in your price range
Kind of makes me feel like you didn't use your D7. Mine can do all of that as well and it seems to run just as fast. But I'm glad you like that one. Maybe it's just an upgraded shell and tablet
Big Clive did a video a couple years back about a sketchy OBD2 dongle that would adjust the mileage. A mechanic found it wired into a car he was working on. The technology has been around for a while.
As it happens BMW have a built in thing to check if the mileage has been tampered with, it shows a little light somewhere. Now this poses a question, is it possible your vehicle now thinks the mileage has been tampered with? So have you been hit by the big snow storm hitting America?
Wow that's crazy about the way you can change milage. That's something I wouldn't use myself. other than that, it does a lot more than my other two scanners do. You're right the price point isn't bad. I may just order one up after the holidays. Take care sir and happy holidays to you and Carmen .
This is a basic function of any good scantool. This is nothing special. I guess you all are excited since you are not use to this functionality. I mean, when you get your car serviced and inspected they note the mileage, so you can't cheat the system. This function is there in case you need to replace the intrument cluster. The mileage is stored in the cluster (and sometimes the BCM) so when you get a new cluster you will have to update the mileage to the correct number. Again, it nothing special, and it's quite hard to get around the system of mileage tracking of cars and trucks.
to be allowed to adjust the mileage means you can buy a used cluster and put the mileage in accordingly...how ever you can not adjust the mileage that the ecm/pcm has locked in so the REAL mileage if tapered with can be obtained thank you .
More mind blowing is that their Bluetooth scan tool will do the same thing, milage adjustment,, but in the dpf section the original milage will stay correct,,
Will that Xtools allow you to program parameters and timers controlled by the ecu or pcm? Like the latest gen Superduty have stupid things like timers on the power outlets. I hear they can be changed, just don’t have a computer capable of it.
remember that mileage adjust only goes for the shown mileages. Not for the real mileage stored in several other modules. When checking you can find the real mileage there.. Good to see if you are being scammed.
I can see some reasons why reworking milage might be ok ... if you buy a replacement computer where it shows zero miles and you need to make it "right"
I have HP Tools Pro if you ever need to tune any Vehicles you have. You would need to purchase Credits for whatever Vehicle/Engine though. I only have Cobalt SC/NA/TB, Corvette LS7, and Camaro LT1 I believe I can’t remember if I have Cummins 5.9 24V or not
Who's to say many more of the scan tools, maybe higher end versions have been able to do milage changes and nobody has been showing that. It's something for a lower to mid priced tool to be able to do that.
Truth of the matter those that would change odometer readings already have a way to do it. One thing far too many people have a difficult time grasping is laws are for law abiding people, not criminals becauae criminals don't care what the law says. They are just going to do what they want anyway. Just like locking your doors, that only keeps honest people out. If a criminal wants in, he's going to get in, it's just how much damage is going to do getting in. If a criminal wants in he'll go steal a car and drive it though a wall if he has to. As for the scanner allowing you to adjust the mileage, there are some legitimate uses for it.
Isn’t that the truth well Said, i have noticed that lots of scanners will only allow mileage adjustment within a percentage or it won’t work at all but every vehicle is different along with each scanner to what you can or can’t do
Don’t be fooled. I purchased this because it claims it can do so much with BMW’s. Wrong-O, E46, F30, and so on can not do any of the things like coding and even scanning and the trouble shooting all fail. Tech support is a joke. Go with X431 or even Autel.
Of course it allows that. You have to be able to do that in order to replace the cluster should the cluster fail which isn't that uncommon on some cars. It wont change the mileage in any of the computer's or control modules. That's how people get caught.
Thank you for putting out honest reviews on these scanners as I am in the market for a new scanner.
Really wonder if it changes the mileage in all of the modules or just the displaying mileage. Interesting.
That special function been on xtool since 2006, welcome to real world
On the xpad 100 by xtool
The xtool ip616 i good enough 300 bucks and basically get a mini copy of earlier snap on scanners but updated. It's actually pretty good, considering i was able to do injector coding on a honda when the workshops own 5 grand scanner failed to communicate at work
Does it relearn psrk assist and reprogram rear view camara ect.?
I'm betting it only changes it in the instrument cluster. Useful if you need to swap out a dead one. Although if it supports ECU/PCM and BCM replacement programming you could still falsify the odometer fully.

The D7 is nothing compared to my Autel
The D7 has been updated. And now pulls pins and a bunch new special features. Does the autel pull pins? 🤔
My V30M can do this.
Hola consulta el escaner d7s modifica los kilómetros? Gracias
Yes
I got this for its bidirectional capabilities.. tpms capabilities are limited. May get the autel 819 for tpms

does this need subscription per car per year?
You can do that anyway, have to be able to do that to change guage clusters in some
Will this work with 2019 and newer Chrysler and Dodge minivans?
It will work with pretty much all current vehicles

That looks like a good one Jerry.I wonder if they are aware that you can change the mileage?
I would bet they do, or else it wouldn't be there.
Can you remap ecu?
I believe you would be looking for a scan tool with ECU programming, not just coding.

Lol don’t worry about the mileage change it’s storages on the ecu and body module
That's fantastic to see! Does it also allow you to program replacement modules to match the car? Seriously considering this
Finally ordered a xtool ip819. Hope it works on my family vehicles. $519 on Amazon with free shipping. Needed one with bidirectional capabilities.
U will need to get the X tool 9. It cost me $1900 for one. But it does all biodirectional functions.
I'm 70 retired, fixed income. $ 1900 way too much. Diyer for family only
Whoa! Edit the mileage, that’s crazy

All good scanners do this? It's for changing ECUS, ECMS and other part's? You don't know this?
Need for abs, srs and tpms issues on lexus/toyota and honda

Mileage should be tied to the Engine Serial number with a spot to add Chassis Mileage.

Thanks I do own HP tools already
The xtool A30M will also change the mileage.
Who's to say many more of the scan tools, maybe higher end versions have been able to do milage changes and nobody has been showing that. It's something for a lower to mid priced tool to be able to do that.
many can but in my experience only within a certain percentage
Damn, that's a serious tool. Thanks for the review.
I mean I think it's only illegal if you try to sell it as having less mileage than it does
Very cool
!!
That’s a pretty nice scanner!
Alphabet boys will come knocking on your door
Holly that will allow you to do things
D7 does the somethings now

Craig's list rebuild...lol
Make some extra cheddar on the side rolling back mileage 😜
Damn it Jerry, get a haircut! Great review though.
This tool looks like a knockoff of the Launch scan tool. Very similar to what I have in my Launch.
What would u buy autel or xtool ?
Xtoolip819
Damn it Jerry, get a haircut! Great review though.
