so ok ok, if we're talking about how a song effects (aka destroys the feels of) the mass audience by being pretty darn clever rhythmically/instrumentally and telling a story through music that supports the lyrics so freaking darn well, this is #1.
But if we're breaking it down specifically to which one is the most musically interesting /melodically/ I Wait still wins #1 for me (specifically the "whatcha doin" because the melody isn't connected /at all/ they seem to pick random intervals out of thin air that end up creating such an unexpected unique sound). I Wait continues to stand out to me too because the chorus actually moves around quite a bit, while I Need Somebody is more stagnant in the vocal melody chorus (but then again, thats to support the lyrics, and also, if i look at it just musically, kinda "boring" but... screw that, cuz, feels). I Need Somebody has a moving verse melody (UGH THE RHYTHMLSAJKALKSNJ), while I Wait has a moving...everything..especially since there's a lot vocal breaks for some crazy 7th chord spazzing in the instrumentals.
Now that i'm doing my best to really analyze both songs...they're kinda coming out as a tie for me. One song does something better while the other song does something else out-of-the-ordinary so
final conclusion:
both are hella fly

I actually cried while listening to this song for the first time! I was listening to it while reading the lyrics and it really spoke to me cause I've been really homesick for the past month (my fam is halfway across the world). But even without the lyrics, you can feel the raw emotion in the singing and the screaming and the instruments. Everything was so well thought and planned out for this song. I was really impressed, especially since DAY6 has been coming out with a lot of ballads lately.

I Wait was my ringtone till a week ago when I finally got my copy of Moonrise, it was my first song from DAY6 hunted high and love for the album it was on but couldn't find it till months later when I decided to by Sunrise because I liked I Smile, I've been in love with them ever since. My new ringtone is now I Need Somebody, even my daughter sings along to it.

I believe it was Jae who tweeted that the Oct release (no actual specific song was mentioned) was his fav thus far, n somewhere mentioned that YK actually cried after listening to the finished product. Knowing the Jaehyunparkian musical tastes n tendencies, many of us do think that the song they meant was INS n not WYLS. i think it was about him chatting with a minor and sending inappropriate messages and nude pics. The victim posted on social media and since then his channel was dead silent. There were even photos of the said conversation, you can search it on google. Although he denied it, people were really bashing and accusing him, so maybe he wanted to avoid the issue altogether.

Fave DAY6 song too, i didn't think DAY6 could emotionally wreck me further with their music, then this came out.. personal anthem, OMG. This song takes you on a journey like how we go through emotional journeys in our lives ~ just beautiful 😢

If anything, this song is most similar to their song, "Colors" from their first EP album "The Day." Both consist power vocals in epic proportion as well as excruciating pain executed in a heart-wrentching yet breathtaking performance. Well done Day6!!!

Another song from DAY6 that is unique to every moment is Letting Go, and still by far my most favorite regardless the debut of I Need Somebody. It started off like a Chrismas lullaby before it drives you off the cliff with the second chorus in 3 seconds and Wonpil's silky vocal ends your life by putting a pristine smooth blanket on your body
I love Letting Go. Sungjin in the chorus makes me cry every time. There's just so much emotion to the way he sings.

this song really messed me up, i used up 3 whole canvases trying to depict YoungK's deep yelling in some frantic art high, and i actually envisioned it just like you did??? with the yelling into the abyss and everything? i actually cried, its such a RAW song, and if anyone says music, especially kpop, isnt art, id show them this.
I love how in all reactions to this track in like the first 30 sec everyones like "wow! a ballad, new territory for day6!" and then younghyun's voice just belts threw and throws off anything that has previously been said.

Acersleeq hey, it will be cool, but in my opion, the song is great by itself. If they make a MV to it, would lose all the magic from the song. This music needs to be listen and felt and if existed a MV it would take all the attetion from it. But if they do make one, it will need to be the best to compond this amazing and powerful song. I hope you understand my point and I loved this song tooo is so good, is my favorite.

I'm actually in a bad pass because of family problems, school stress, and since they've debut I feel listened by Day6, I don't know how to explain it. And I've actually cried because I can relate so much to the lyrics, but also musically, the song made all, it made anybody who listen emotional. Just. Love this song. Probably one of my favourite Day6 song ever. (I totally feel you for the "you can already tell how good it's gonna be by the first note") BTW The part 'Why am I alone' in my opinion is gorgeous, the guitar start with Young K's powerful voice and you can feel all the emotion through his voice. It's a 15 out of 10 for me.

I Wait has a more upbeat electronic vibe from the synth, but How Can I Say is straight up emotional, powerful rock.

After the first 5 seconds I already knew this song is going to be emotional and I'm going to love it. It remains my a bit of FT Island's 'Wind'. Like the way it started really slow and the up building.

This might be one of my favorite DAY6 songs it the song that got me into DAY6. The reason I heard the song was cause of my mom really likes DAY6 and have their songs on her phone and played it a lot. I liked how it sounded and checked out DAY6 and I really like their music.

This by far my favorite Day6 song. I have no experience in film making but like you I visualized in my mind. This song really hit me because I've been going through some hard times and it encompassed everything I'd been feeling. The softer parts reminded me of how in public I act like everything is ok. They remind me of how even though I'm surrounded by people I feel lonely and hallow. The harder more piercings parts reminded me of how I am when I'm left alone with my mind. How I wish to break free of my troubles. This song was exactly what I needed right now. I can't describe how thankful I am to Day6 for this.

This is absolutely 100% my favourite Day6 song. And I can relate to your point of view so much, because Im also much closer to film and stories and visuals than to music, but I love music to bits. And this song really was an artistic journey on every single level.
As much as I love to jam my butt off to I Wait and What Can I Do, I can't help but really fall in love with their slower/ more emotional songs. These 2 new songs especially had me floored, on repeat since release. 😍

I got into day 6 through my friend who invited me to their concert back in November. She begged me to go saying I wouldn't want to miss it ( I was hesitant since I was almost broke haha )
In the end I went. I had only been listening to them for around a month and hadnt heard all of their songs yet when I went to the concert.
*The first time I heard "I need somebody" was live* and I was blown away by the pure emotion when brian belted "why am I alone?".

I love watching PDS reactions where they completely loose their mind, this one and the reaction to lovebomb (fomis9) are 2 of my favourites
i need somebody is definitely on my top 3 list. i got so emotional when i first listened to it and i still get goosebumps when i listen to it on the bus. the build up is incredible and it feels so heavy with loneliness its insane how theyve really managed to make you feel the lyrics and made it feel like a story...im just at a loss of words its so damn good.
