Here is Jessica's page! Check her out and all others participating in the challenge! Also, she isn't expecting! I was looking at a video from last year! So sorry! www.youtube.com/@threerivershomestead
There's a substance in fresh pineapple called bromelain, it's a mix of enzymes, which digests proteins. That's why it can be used to tenderise tough meat and why you can't set gelatin if it has fresh pineapple in it (kiwi fruit does the same thing). The canning process denatures the enzymes, so gelatin with canned pineapple works fine.
I fry diced onions 🧅 on medium heat until they are golden brown and then add the beans with the juice from canning them, or some broth. I smash them until it looks thin like a gravy. When they start to cool off they will get thick again. But the onion 🧅 adds such a great depth of flavor!
Your green beans look sooo good. I think I even slobbered a little bit. I think I'm going to have to look at it over again to see how you made it. And "No" it wasn't too long. The longer the better. I'm sure we all get good insight of information you put out there for those of us who need it. If that makes sense.
@mamabairds Do you have picky eaters? And do you make something different for that child? I noticed you make a variety of meals and you haven't mentioned anything about that. I also heard you talk about cooking for 1. I used to cook for my large family (siblings)and mom, at times, then I got married and cooked for 15 stepchildren(got lied to🤨. And my 3 biological kids, 1 daughter and 2 sons. Making the household a total of 20. And now I live alone and don't know how to cook for just myself. So I just put the food into containers and freeze the meals. You have inspired me to do different things in thinking out of the box. I've messed up some things, but I kind of saved it a bit.😂
Enjoyed your video of cooking. We'll see what next week brings I'm just trying to use my pantry and freezer items and cut down on my food & household items expenses. Spent $1003. in Dec. & there is only 2 of us plus our pittie dog. (Neither of us well enough to cook from scratch everything. )
Catching up on your video's, can't stop watching them. The rice needed more oil and to be browned more, don't stir or touch it at all for about 15 minutes, then turn off and keep it covered, fluff with a fork and it shouldn't stick and will be cooked to perfection👍 just some helpful tips. Love your channel, thank you for sharing 😊
You are doing awesome lady! I have a child with moderate severe autism so whenever I try to cook and show what I am doing, I end up having to totally scrap the cooking part because she gets so loud. I am still trying to figure out how I can do it, but until I can, I record in parts then I try to edit the loudness out and if not, I just show the finished product and post the recipe in the description. Thank you for showing what you are doing.
I find chili powder to be fairly mild on the heat scale while still giving lots of flavor. I often use a very heavy hand with it making Chilly and never get over a mild or medium unless I add other spices like Tabasco sauce hot pepper or red pepper flakes. I think for most people the regular amount of chili powder would be fine.
Hi Carolina! Great video. When I make burritos I like to toast them on the camal afterwards to make them nice and toasty and it helps keep your burritos closed.
Hey, so glad I found your channel again! I came across one of your pantry videos a few weeks ago and have been meaning to look for you. Thank you for the great tips!
Hey Carolina!!!😁 Loved watching you cooking this afternoon (1/20/24 Saturday). I never made chicken enchiladas with cream cheese in it But I will be trying it soon. I love cream cheese 💖😎 By the way, yes they do have "refried Black beans” in the can. Delicious! I keep dried beans and can beans in my pantry. Canned beans are for my last minute meals when I’m not in the mood to cook from scratch 🤣🤣 Yummy looking idea on the enchiladas 💖😎 Bacon Cheese Burger Enchiladas I love making my meats go further. I have taken hamburgers and repurposed it for chili or spaghetti or tacos or beef stroganoff……😂🤣 Enjoy watching your children cook with you and hubby of to the side making comments (adorable couple). Thanks for sharing your ideas and your encouraging words to all of us. 💖😎
You could make pesto with the parsley - add some kind of nut or seed, cheese (parmesan or peccorino for preference, but other types work too, lemon juice andzest and olive oil. Whizz it all together
I mix about a half cup of ketchup, a couple tablespoons of brown sugar and a couple of teaspoon of yellow mustard for my meatloaf topping. It always gets rave reviews. Some even say it's the best they've ever had. I make up several pounds and donate to families that have babies, elderly, etc.
I won a contest once for meatloaf and told mine is amazing. My topping is ketchup, brown sugar, and 2 teaspoons of honey mustard😊👍. It goes amazing with the onions and peppers in my meatloaf😊♥️🙏🏻
I use pineapple in black cherry jello it is my favorite. I also use bananas in my jello. I’ve never had any issues using pineapple in my jello it has always set up like it’s supposed to. N
Hi I’m a new watcher. I really enjoy your channel especially the pantry haul. You inspired me to go to pantry near me. As a single momma it has definitely helped me stretch my budget. My question Is there a reason you use a separate stove top? I haven’t had a working oven in almost a year. But between my ninja foodie and I only really miss baking certain items
Hey there!! Welcome! Thanks for reaching out! I like to use my electric burner for filming. It makes it easier to have everything over there in one spot and not have to move the camera around! I would miss my oven as well. I'm sorry for your loss..lol!
So I’m following along as I do a pantry clean out of my own and I have two items that are giving me a lot of trouble 😅 I have so much yellow mustard and relish! Any suggestions for using those ? Thanks 💕 great video as always!
I would suggest not pulling on your seals. You can double seal it able the first seal to confirm that it was completely sealed. You rick ripping it pulling on it.
I do the same, I don't turn lights on anywhere really, I think it's because I pay the bill's 😅, I knew my home so well lights weren't really something I needed and I'm not afraid of the dark either I walk through my whole house without lights and it was a big house.
My mom made the best pot stickers ever, I tried to make them many times they were never as good as hers she made them better than any Asian restaurant I've ever been too, I think she didn't give me a few of the ingredients she used though, She also made a Asian dish that just had steak meat and onion's and the seasoning of course it was called bodiyakki probably spelled it wrong but the same thing mines never as good as hers was.
I love, love, love watching you cook. That was a great recipe and I can do this. Thanks for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us. Love 💕 and Hugs ❤❤❤
I actually made tortillas this morning! I made big ones for breakfast burritos and it was so much super than i thought it would be, even as my first try
Oh I have to tell you I got a dehydrator from my son and future daughter in law and I got leaks from the food bank and I followed how you made onion powder it is so delicious. Thank you
@mamabairds I did exactly the same thing. Her ultrasound clip showed up on my feed and blew my mind. I then looked to see if it was current and found out it was baby Hannah. When you just said it, my chin dropped to the floor thinking, how could I have missed the news. I watch everything she posts about three times and thought I must be losing my mind. 🤪
Lol. Just got a chance to watch the video. I started giggling because you're like the pied piper with your chickens. They meet you at your car and follow you to the shed. To cute. 😊
Hi, I think you are trying to pull the seal before it has cooled. If you wait a few minutes then try to see if it opens, you might find it has totally sealed.
This my mom phone, I watch your channel. I'm 16 yrs old. That's way to much spice for children. 1/2 teaspoon good enough. That's the good brands of spices. Very strong, very spicy.
I got a sealer hand love it. I got a big all meat roast . They were buy 1 get 1 for a penny . So 2 roast for $22. I froze them. I usually cut 1 up and cook it in the instant pot when making homemade soup.
Toppings for meatloaf I use ketchup, bbq sauce, cream of soup, cheese mix if you are running low on a cheese just sprinkle it over bake to melt, then top with lettuce, diced tomatoes, onion, pickles so it comes out like a glorified cheese burger.
Those were not enchiladas in any way, shape or form lol. Cream cheese? Flour tortillas? Pork? They weren't even burritos with cream cheese. Sauce looked good. Never watched a vid of yours before. I also use 1packet of onion soup mix n 1packet of beefy onion soup mix or 2 of one or the other per 3lbs of ground meat if u dont have stuffin
Oh, that's a great idea! Thank you for sharing!
Hey Carolina! I sometimes use a can of tomato soup undiluted on top of our meatloaf. It's delicious!
You could make pesto with the parsley - add some kind of nut or seed, cheese (parmesan or peccorino for preference, but other types work too, lemon juice andzest and olive oil. Whizz it all together
So happy that you suggest this! Thank you so much! I have all those things!
@mamabairds and garlic, forgot to mention that - pesto needs garlic!

Potato salad? If you have honey you could make honey mustard to put on salad and use as a dip for things like chicken strips.
Add them to your meatloaf! You could also use the relish as pickles in a cheeseburger quesadilla or something!
Love your channel, thanks for sharing what you do & apart of yours & your family’s life.
Thanks for watching!
Great vid ❤
Thanks 😁
New to page and enjoying it. How long did jello take to firm up? I love green beans and bacon. I add vinegar to mine. It is delicious
The Jello took about 2 hours. Kids made me check it every 10 mins..haha

I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I must have missed a video somewhere along the way. What happened to your gas stove? Why are you using an electric burner?
I still have it! I just like having the electric burner in the corner of the kitchen for my videos! It helps with the filming!
How do you make the Costco broth from the Costco chicken?
You just use the bones from the rotisserie chicken!
@@mamabairds with how much liquid do use some chicken broth?
I really love the long videos. Thanks

Those enchiladas yum 😋 everything looked great and I’m glad you’re filling your freezer for harder days.
Saute your rinsed rice first till toasted.

Great show Caroline. Great idea turkey chili on such a cold day. It’s freezing in Ontario Canada too.
