She can sing a variety of styles, and her voice is very recognizable. Dissension is the heaviest song they do I think. But no matter which song of theirs or one of the many covers they do. I think you'll be very pleased with it. They are very capable of doing every style you can think of. From very heavy to cutesy J-pop. Deep loud growls on vocals. To more high pitched pop. These ladies can do it all.

Surely you have to listen to Dissension to see what a screamer Mayu is! Then I suggest the Naon Yaon version of Oiran to see what their live skills are…then you can dive into their other original stuff or one fo the plenty covers they have and eagerly wait for the new single to drop on october 13!🤘🏽
The best thing about their original songs are that each one has it's own flavor. And in general, their fluent mix of genres with their positive energy made them one of my favorite bands pretty quickly 🤩

I love this song, but just like everyone else is saying you need to check out Nemophila "Dissension" if you want Mayu's harsh vocals. Lovebites will never use harsh vocals but their new song "Set The World On Fire" is very thrashy, I suggest that you check that one out too.

It's not that it's bad (it's not bad at all), but it's just not representative of Band Maid anymore (basically, it's like judging the Beatles on "She Loves Me", although you'd really should have gone with Blackbird or any later stuff :)

But, like everything else it got cancelled due to the pandemic and lockdown. So they did a online concert a few months ago. They released a video with 2 of their songs from there new album called Unseen World from the concert. The songs are called Manners and Black Hole. Tho to be honest. Any song will do. One thing I will say is that Band-Maid don't have any bad songs. Just some songs I like better than others.

Other Japanese bands with harsh vocals include Hanabie (花冷え, all-female), Deviloof, Dexcore and Dir en Grey. There are also alt-idol groups like Passcode and Broken by the Scream that combine metal screams with girl group pop.
While fans love this song, the band has really changed since that time. Looking at your taste, I agree that "Dissension" is the best bet and move up from there. You won't be sorry!

"OIRAN" is good but "DISSENSION"(MV) will be better for your taste. Also please check out Sokoninaru, two-piece Japanese rock band. This band is insanely technical awesome band. Sokoninaru is my #3 fav band (Band-Maid is my #1 and Nemophila is my #4). "Tenohira de odoru", "Gou Ni Moyu", "Lament moment" or "Metalin" will be a good start for this band😉

If you want to see Mayu letting her hamster out of the cage (she actually has a pet hamster she seems pretty obsessed with on Instagram) you should try Oiran, Dissension or, after you probably cover them on your Japan journey, Nemophila's Maximum the Hormone covers, especially the cover of Shimi.
Another song you should listen to? ALL OF THEM 😍😍 There isn't anything this band can't play or Mayu can't sing..... SAKI and HAZUKI may be the best guitar duo in all of Japanese Ladies rock/metal - I think only Midori and Miyako of LoveBites come close to them.
Nothing wrong with this song but it is probably their least popular track. The guitarist on right of screen is from Mary's Blood and they have also released a new song as have BRIDEAR and that is really good. The song Night Flight is rock not metal but is really catchy. Don't forget their covers they are just as popular as their own songs. Do you know BAND-MAID ? They are rock as well and probably the best rock band in the world. See you ( as babymetal would say)
This is my favourite Nemophila song by far, they do go heavier with Dissension but I personally find that track far less interesting than this one. I think it's mostly due to the mix and the drum tone on the recording but Dissension to my ear sounds like it's plodding along whereas this one feels lively and "pushed". I also think the chorus melody is far more interesting in Raitei with that picardy 3rd at the end of it which is just the sort of canny accidental usage I love to hear. Just my thoughts though and judging by others comments I'm in the minority opinion on this, would be very interested to see what you think of Dissension! If you want another awesome Japanese band who are close friends with Nemophila have you checked out Gacharic Spin? They're not specifically metal, more an amalgamation of many different genres in a rock format, but they touch on more metal edged tracks here and there - you might find their track "I Wish I" interesting.

Also please check out Sokoninaru, two-piece Japanese rock band. This band is insanely technical awesome band. Sokoninaru is my #3 fav band (Band-Maid is my #1 and Nemophila is my #4). "Tenohira de odoru", "Gou Ni Moyu", "Lament moment" or "Metalin" will be a good start for this band😉
just to let you know Mayu is a screamer like the lead singer from crystal lake if you want to hear that listen to the music videos of Adabana, A Ray of Light, Revive and Dissention they are amazing and my favorite japanese metal band and my 4th favorite band of all time please let me know what you think

this is a supergroup incase you didnt know all 5 members were from different bands Saki the lead guitarist who formed this band was originally from Mary's Blood when people talk about who the best drummer, Guitarist and singer is in japan Saki the lead guitarist Tamu the drummer and Mayu the singer is always mentioned in the debate. and the other guitarist and bassist is mentionist in the debate of who is in the top 5 in japan. and yes Mayu is a screamer if you want to hear here scream react to the music videos of A Ray of Light, Dissention and Revive and the studio version of Oiran. you want to hear how good of a clean singer she is react to life live and they also did covers of babymetal megitsune and linkin park given up please let me know what you think

If you want to see Mayu letting her hamster out of the cage (she actually has a pet hamster she seems pretty obsessed with on Instagram) you should try Oiran, Dissension or, after you probably cover them on your Japan journey, Nemophila's Maximum the Hormone covers, especially the cover of Shimi.
Another song you should listen to? ALL OF THEM 😍😍 There isn't anything this band can't play or Mayu can't sing..... SAKI and HAZUKI may be the best guitar duo in all of Japanese Ladies rock/metal - I think only Midori and Miyako of LoveBites come close to them.

Nothing wrong with this song but it is probably their least popular track. The guitarist on right of screen is from Mary's Blood and they have also released a new song as have BRIDEAR and that is really good. The song Night Flight is rock not metal but is really catchy. Don't forget their covers they are just as popular as their own songs. Do you know BAND-MAID ? They are rock as well and probably the best rock band in the world. See you ( as babymetal would say)
This is my favourite Nemophila song by far, they do go heavier with Dissension but I personally find that track far less interesting than this one. I think it's mostly due to the mix and the drum tone on the recording but Dissension to my ear sounds like it's plodding along whereas this one feels lively and "pushed". I also think the chorus melody is far more interesting in Raitei with that picardy 3rd at the end of it which is just the sort of canny accidental usage I love to hear. Just my thoughts though and judging by others comments I'm in the minority opinion on this, would be very interested to see what you think of Dissension!
If you want another awesome Japanese band who are close friends with Nemophila have you checked out Gacharic Spin? They're not specifically metal, more an amalgamation of many different genres in a rock format, but they touch on more metal edged tracks here and there - you might find their track "I Wish I" interesting.
