Good video. Would like to see comparison of all 3 Durston torches in one video.I just got the middle one, so curious where the overlap would be in projects.
Andrew, thanks for an excellent video. I would like to comment on 2 areas.
1. This new torch is phenomenal in 2 strategic features. The 1st is that it has an air flow control which is pretty rare in these type of micro torches, most of which just have a standard fuel control. The air flow control allows the power of the flame to be reduced and the flame to be reduced to a low level, short length but still directional. While my prime use of the torch is for electronics and some jewelry work, this torch is the best solution for microsurgery that I perform every week with paracord. The 2nd feature is the single-hand ignite and lock which I find essential. The mechanical design of this feature on this torch is unique and ingenious. This device is a winner and Durston could easily expand marketing it to other industries.
2. My second topic is Butane fuel. By the way, the video you posted 5 yrs ago on refilling a torch was and still is the best one I have seen (and I've seen a zillion). My only suggestion for your videos would be to add / change the comments on Butane fuel. Butane fuel has to be man-made and it is impossible to create it without impurities. Some companies do a poor job of filtering out impurities while others do a fair job, while expert manufacturers performs many fold filtering to produce premium and ultra premium butane. The impurities in butane which make their way into the torch can cause the flame to sputter, can build up and clog the burner part of the torch, can form burn residue, and can gum up the filling valve. A technician I met who repairs micro torches and high end butane lighters claimed that 70% of the devices that came back for repair were caused by low quality butane gas.
Thanks for all your great videos.
Cheers, Murray
Great but it would have been useful to see the range of flame size and a comparison to the other torches in the range.
I prefer the Proxxon torch for a portable torch available from both CooksonGold and CousinsUK (later slighlty cheaper) love the vids
There's something about humans and torches. I get a hormonal rush when I light up.
Seems like a nice torch might just have to pick one of these up.
I got a bit excited but sadly they are currently out of stock. I have a stingray at the moment (plus a Blazer for some jobs, I've tried other small torches too but the stingray has been the best so far), but I'm always on the lookout for something better. Unfortunately I can't have a "real" torch setup, though these are good enough for now. Hopefully they'll be back in stock at some point.
Thank you so much Andrew for showing how to use the micro torch safely, appreciated your expertise ❤
I need a new torch too. I am also manifesting a “Little Torch” set up!
Excellent video thank you for your details ,,very helpful
hello: is there a way to adjust the front end of the 770 torch. ( not the flame, but the spring on the front end? thank
