If you use gold filled you would have to apply for hallmarking if the total weight is over 1g according the rules. I never see anybody do this. So is gold fill classed as plated?
Gold filled has barely any real gold content. It’s an amalgam metal and not suitable for hallmarking.
From a yanks point of view this whole assay office scheme sounds like just another hidden tax.
