Shohei isn’t like you and me. He doesn’t have a regular account at the local Chase. He probably got many accounts in different countries both private and business. For context sake if you had $10,000 spread out over 5 bank accounts would you notice $100 missing? Maybe, maybe not
How do you know all this, Shohei told you himself?
@@piscator2813 nah i assume just like others assume he got 1 account. imo multiple accounts is likely correct tho..
Assistant stolen money from their rich boss is more common than you think. And Ippei is like that to shohei, he's not only interpreter. He handling his business everyday.
he is completely innocent. Although he was betrayed by his friends, he is resolute and admirable.
Ohtani does not live in the same regular world as us lmao. Have we not heard from celebrities, musicians, or athletes telling their stories of how their money was stolen from within their camp? Tim Duncan was defrauded of $20 mill from his financial advisor.
That’s a financial advisor idiot, or a power of attorney, or an accountant… these wires don’t go out the way you think they do… they don’t go out via best buddies Iike a stolen Venmo account
you guys are all forgetting that Mizuhara was his interpreter for everything so if a bank were to call him the interpreter is the one that does all the communication. He can easily mislead all the other English speaking Americans while leaving Ohtani in the dark. Also what is so messed about this situation is that the absolute best case scenario here for Ohtani is his best friend (former) stole from him and tried to implicate him in a federal crime. The fact that Mizuhara is MIA not in the US, while Ohtani is fully cooperating with the federal investigation and the authorities should speak volumes. Ohtani is a victim of a crime and even after fully disclosing his situation today some people continue their smear campaign to Ohtani. You have to be a mean-spirited asshole to be able to do that.
I agree. And when Ohtani was back in Japan the person who managed his account was his mother. I think he doesn’t have a good understanding of financial management. Now, he has a trusted interpreter who is basically doing everything for him, so it is very likely that he allowed him to manage the bank accounts as well. I also remember in a Japanese news, they said Ohtani left a message to Ippei on airplane. Instead of calling him interpreter, I believe he said manager. So Ippei is not just doing interpreting job for him.
Yes. I feel Ohtani is the victim. Ippei is a liar n a gambling addict.
He probably had an expense account that Mizuhara has access to. They have been best friends for a long time.
Expense account have 5 millions for him to spend? GTFO LOL
@@challenger516 7 million. that is the news.
Ippei was probably authorized to pay bills from his account. Because Ippei was taking care of restaurant, buying gifts etc. Also he was the translator to open bank account etc. And yes Shohei does not owe you guys nothing. This is another stupid assumption.
Ippei was also his driver, he drove him to Anaheim every game.
And Ippei`s father is the owner of a Japanese restaurant in LA where Ohtani frequents.
Ippei family was his manager, assistant, driver. and interpreter.
There two hosts are haters. Blame the victim, really?
Ohtani and the people around Ohtani trusted this interpreter too much. Even if voluminous paper documents or online messages about these huge money transactions from his bank had reached Ohtani, they were in English, so there is a high possibility that this interpreter processed them conveniently. Ohtani hardly understands English.
Ohtani probably understands basic English. I think Ohtani did not even bother to care and check or see what was happening in his account. He sleeps 10 hours a day, man.
The hosts are victim blaming at the highest level.
Which part? Stating how Shohei should've been more precautionary on who/how his finances are handled?
I remember managing a client's pre-signed checkbook to settle/pay every expense/bill and even donations on their behalf. Why? Most can't spell out numbers on a checkbook, and many can't process the details re: the purpose for the expenses. The concept of "trust" with the Japanese is culturally different from the west. The point is, I had access to most of my client's, user id, passwords, code, numbers for all financial accounts to draw and deposit their money. Crazy? Yes! No speak English and no understand you speak? Yes!
Well explained
Your stance on Shohei being an adult is the same mindset as putting fault on someone who gets sexually assaulted and believing that it’s because of how they were dressed.
yes
he can't discuss an ongoing case...that's all he has to say and must be respected. His mother looks after his finances.
The guy deferred 95% of the 700 million dollars contract makes me believe he doesn't cared about money
I mean I have four accounts and my partner has access to one of them. I have no idea how much money has been spent from that account 😂 also I have never gambled. Just no interest in it.
First of all it's not 4.5M in one shot it was 9 transfers of 500k. Secondly, daily e-transfer limits for high net worth individuals can be raised for ex. Charles Schwab allows 100k but states it can increase for individuals who qualify, you think Ohtani qualifies guy makes 50M off the field alone in endorsements you seriously comparing your salary to his? it is not crazy at all and rather simple.
These people don’t understand how rich people manage money. Also Ohtani have the ultimate trust to his buddy. If one thing Ohtani is guilty of - Ohtani is guilty of being naive and too trusting of his friend. His friend betrayed him. What is so hard to understand that. These conspiracies theorist of “how can this happen?” These media clowns so badly wants a story that is not there. SMH. “Even if we believe his story …”. They rather believe an admitted liar and fraudster over somebody with so much to risk if he’s lying to an admitted liar. These 🤡. Clown show !!! 😂
Don't let the innocent face of Ohtani fool anyone.... Ippei Mizuhara has to come clean and squeal like a pig in a barn to get a lesser Federal prison sentence...
stop hating, you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. It’s obviously he didn’t know about the gambling and the theft.
Shohei is famous for only thinking about becoming the best baseball player. Even when he was in Japan, he was not managing his money. His parents did manage his money and sent him only 800 dollars every month. It's difficult for me to imagine that he was managing his own money in the U.S., where he cannot speak or understand the local language and was not familiar with the customs and systems in the U.S.
Should Ohtani name all the sports teams. He's a player for the Dodgers. Why would he be required to explain himself to RUclips's talking heads? I'm sure Ohtani has dealt with prejudice before. He'll be ok.
Waaaahhh prejudice waaaaahhhh Hahaha
Actually, all this hate does come off as prejudice.
@@JDRamos213Stop crying mate
Many individuals who are “adults”, are constantly targeted and victimized by others with malicious intentions and well-thought-out strategies. If every single responsible adult could protect themselves from any scams, theft, fraud, and the like, there would be significantly fewer prisons in the world, wouldn’t there? In my country, South Korea, there have been a few infamous lawsuits and criminal cases involving Kpop superstars and actors/actresses-individuals who are exceptionally talented and intelligent-being deceived and having substantial amounts of money stolen over many years by their close friends, relatives, siblings, and even their own parents. There exist numerous methods for deceitful individuals to falsify documents, commit bank theft, or manipulate online banking systems. Let us not assume we are immune to deception and falsely assert that we have never been lied to, simply to portray others as either foolish or deceitful.
yes
This guy needs to be investigated as intensely as was done to Pete Rose. If he was, he needs to be banned from the game.
Do we really believe that a guy can go into your accounts and get millions to pay off gambling bets?? Come on!!
that is exactly what probably happened.
you need to consider that he has minimal interest about money, he does not understand english very well, so he let his interpreter handle everything, from food, driving, payments including charity.
and, he is so wealthy he has multiple accounts all over the world, he does not manage them himself, different from you and me.
This was the most thoughtful discussion I’ve seen so far.
He has to man up and answer questions in whatever language. Grow some balls!
He just like most people when they get caught they lie and the interpretive, taking a dive for him
Projecting? lol Damn you have someone that would go to jail for you? 👌
You come off as a clown
Innocent until proven guilty
Thank you. This is the first take I've seen that holds Ohtani accountable. You sign the biggest deal in history and don't take into account how your finances are being handled? C'mon now.
Yahoo sports? Is that a joke? Cuz these clowns surely are...
I'm commenting from Japan! It's Google Translate, so please forgive me for my immaturity. The way Ippei stole money from Ohtani's account was when he invited American outfielder Lars Nootbaar during the WBC, and Ippei took advantage of the fact that Ohtani had a time constraint before the season to back up meetings with Nootbaar, food and drink expenses, etc., and that Ohtani believed in Ippei! It can be considered.
Source? Show us.
@@challenger516 After the WBC, Kuriyama and Ohtani were featured on Japan TV in which they talked about how they asked Ohtani to help when they called up Lars Nootbaar to Japan, and Ohtani asked Ippei to negotiate with Lars Nootbaar before the season.
@@kazualfa1310 Again, show us the source. Show us the news or video clip. Thanks.
@@challenger516 I looked for it, but I couldn't find a video with Director Kurihara. Instead, Nootbaar himself sent words thanking Ippei for inviting him at a press conference held in Japan after the victory, so I think it will come up if you search for it.
Hey man, you gotta show the source or proof of such a story.
