Chicano culture influenced black people to start lowriding. African American people influenced Chicanos in LA with certain lingo and music. Together we created the fruits of what we had to work with in the streets we were navigating. Ain't no one stealing nothing, at the end of the day we are all humans, and separating colors as different races was created by the ruling class to separate and control us, and keep us fighting. There was a time when black people were influenced by Super Fly, but in LA black people have been lowriding for a long time before then. Before Mexicans started pouring into California illegally, in heavy numbers, they had nothing to do with Lowrider Culture. The modification of cars started back in the 1950s in the indigenous Black American San Diego community and it was known as the "Daygo Dip." This practice was then transferred to Los Angeles among the indigenous Black communities there. It was first brought to the world by them decades ago and this can be seen in older photos and video footage from back in the day. I know this first hand. I lived through it. A people's traditions and culture gets rewritten when they become displaced and erased from the lands in which they have always been. Mexicans are the ones practicing many things, now, that indigenous Black Americans were originally practicing and had created long ago, but once a group of people has been systematically eliminated from their homeland, and replaced with foreigners, then the new group becomes the new face of the old practices of the Original people that were once there in larger numbers. At other times the memory of the original people is completely wiped out. That's how it works. Never forget it.
