This story needs to be a movie. One thing that really caught my attention is how this car club had morals and values and separated themselves from the gang life. We need more of that, most car clubs now are rebellious and pretty much dangerous to them self and to others acting foolish and making the car club more of a gang then a genuine lifestyle of morals ethics and standards. ORALE! Keep up the good work
Morals and values? The only reason the Jesse had to build the '64 is that a rival club destroyed his first Walt Prey, rose muraled '63 because it always came in first at shows and they were jealous. Some set of morals, ethics and standards, lol.
I thought I was a car enthusiast for knowing makes and models by looking at them, but boy am I wrong! I barely scratch the surface when it comes to the aspects of car culture! I need to level up fast and HVA is helping me a lot with that, thank you!
Absolute street hero, the crowd at his funeral speaks by itself on the influence this guy had on the scene, and in the streets, and all by being an honest, straight forward guy, and what's even better is that his legacy lives on with his family and all the people he either influenced or saved 🖤🌹
I remember cruising Wittier Blvd. in my Cadillac Fleetwood back in the day and as I looked over to the next lane he comes Imperials cruising a super clean Cadillac of their own. That moment was an inspiration to me and now all grown up I got one clean 64 Impala of my own! (Tulsa Oklahoma)
my brother had one in the middle 70's a 64 ss impala. he lived in tulsa at the time. came out one morning and it was gone! found the shell in a junk yard in tahlequah ok. so sad it needed to be painted but it was a really solid car and wouldve been sweet painted and restored!
I’m from Tulsa I actually live in claremore looking for a 1964 impala 2 door with the 283 v8 or a 4 door 283 if you know anyone that has a 283 1964 impala lmk for sure I pay cash straight up
I’ve lived in Oklahoma all my life been my favorite car since I was a little kid I’m only 24 lol but I’ve always like that car had my eye always but oh well lol
The best documentary I’ve ever seen in my life and shame on me for not knowing the full story of the famous Gypsy Rose. I literally cried watching this. Thank you Mr Valdez Sr and Jr and the whole Valdez family and friends. Thank you for starting the culture. I can only hope and pray I come from TX to LA just to meet the family. Walt and Don you are true legends of the game you deserve much more credit for the Mona Lisa you created. God bless you all! RIP Mr. Valdez Sr and Jr #fuckcancer
I love low riders!!! I always admired the creativity and the originality of the low rider cars. I'm not a low riders, but I grew up seeing a lot of low riders in my neighborhood. I love the fact that they stay true to their culture and tradition and their passions for cars. They are like a close knit family. I admire that their culture and tradition continue on for many years. Low riders will never die!
I towed this bad ass vehicle to and from several photo shoots. The best was at the Sixth Street Bridge, the day before teardown of the Sixth Street Bridge. Downtown Los Angeles. Priceless memories. Rip Jesse
This my fave sort of youtube rabbit hole to go down. Love my cars, bikes, trucks, the road the smell of burnt gasoline from a pack of harleys in front of me you name it! I live for the road it is what I do and love. And the low rider scene is so cool. Love the cheap effort of just loading the trunk or boot up depending where you are from to hit them bump stops for the aesthetic gains.
My van was always parked at Chicano Park in San Diego. A rare Chevy G30 1989 with a 350, federal government surveillance vehicle. My plates were special. It was an historical vehicle and it was my camper when I was a student at SDCC. I miss it a lot and the Chicano culture. I am Puerto Rican like Chico. I went back home missing my friends
This car brings back so many memories I remember in 1973 I helped one of your members in metal shop he was making a twisted bar steering wheel for this car the imperial will always be the best to me
I heard about this car when looking at a video of a famous crip OGs (O.G. Turtle) sister interview.. they asked her about the lowrider days and she mentioned the gypsy rose and they showed it with a picture of O.G. turtle standing next to it
I had the privilege of seeing Gypsy Rose at the Petersen. Automotive Museum in LA a couple of years ago. What a magnificent car! Everything about it was first rate. Luckily for me, my wife knows about my love of cars, she did not say anything about my 7 year restoration on my ' 64 Corvette, so she just let me spend lots of time looking at Gypsy Rose.
It took me a second to realize who/what Gypsy Rose was when I saw the title on my recommended videos and then it hit me... Gypsy Rose... the cover car of Lowrider Magazine from I think it was 1992... holy crap I was 16 when I first saw those pictures of this car in LRM in 92 and I prob haven't seen it since then... takes me back just seeing this beautiful machine. Great little piece here, no clue why YT recommended it to me but I am so glad I decided to click on it. I learned a lot abut this car, it sure does have an illustrious past. Bravo. edit: Though I am no longer into the Lowrider movement or style of cars I do still have an infatuation and major LOVE of automobiles and have owned a 25th anniversary Firebird Trans Am (with 60k original miles now) for the last 27 years.

Living in New Zealand decades ago I read about Low riders in R&C or Hot Rod, featuring Gypsy Rose, And that was the 1st time low riders were featured in such a big circulation magazine. I think i even have a copy here somewhere.
Really cool. I was a little girl in la in 80 and always remember black guys loving low riders but we never tried to take ownership. We always knew they came from the Latino community. We respected their culture & we love freaking low riders too. Thank you Jessie. I never knew the story or why or who. Great man
Thanks for the history of this car club, car, and the culture. A bunch of people that got together, and channeled their energy, through their love of cars, art, and to be a good influence in the community! Thanks for posting this!
My grandpa told me he remembered watching Chico and the man the first night it came out and the next day he went back to school, he told me every one was talking about gypsy rose, R.I.P Jesse Valadez
I got to see Gypsie Rose when my daughter read it was on display at the Peterson car museum she said can we go, vamos! They even made a lifesize pinatas of the car, beautiful video
With all respect thank you for this documentary and this timeless car and it builder Jesse Valadez. Thanks to the family for sharing their memories and now being the caretakers of Gypsy Rose. RIP Jesse Valadez
“Ride in Paradise” Jesse Sr & Jr! True definition of LOWRIDER Role Models! Gypsy Rose 🌹 will Forever Touch lives and bring Positive Lowriding Vibes! Much Love!
Although I'm generally not a fan of lowrider cars, I find this to be quite attractive. I love the paint job on it, the colours and patterns on it make this lowrider a rolling work of art. :)
I grew up around lowriders and lowrider bikes and cruise nights were the good years now a days nobody cruises. Car clubs rarely do much. Maybe its where I live I guess. For a while here in Oahu Hawaii had all the Lowrider bike clubs that would ride through the island every Friday night and cruise the strips and then that stopped.
Grew up in La Puente, went to Bassett High school and left for the Army in 1977. Cruised the Blvd many times. Knew of Roy Hoyos and his bad ass rivi. Good times. My high school buddy joined the imperials in the early years. Henry Rod, Live close to the high school. Good to know some of the guys
I got married last year and moved to East LA. I'm not a car guy but I love seeing the lowriders on the weekend. Ever since I was a kid I loved seeing what these guys would come up with next.
It really is beautiful thank you for sharing your familia story. And greatfull to see gypsy rose a serious work of art. You can tell how much love and passion was put into her..much respect.🙏🏼🕊🙌🏼

You always got stuff to learn
Being in the car community has so many layers because there are so many different aspects of it and each area has some new culture.
Chico and the Man and the Gypsy Rose are a part of my childhood I will NEVER forget. At 55 I'm still lowriding. Thank You Jesse
