    I still can't fully let go of Metallica attacking their fans (and a free and open internet) during the Napster Debacle. Nevermind the fact that bands who leaned into "letting fans steal their albums" led to MORE album sales, Metallica went out of their way to sue everyone they could and slam the door shut on freely sharing files. Yes, they should try and protect their property. But they didn't stop there, they felt that since Napster was being used to pirate THEIR stuff, NOBODY should have the freedom to use it.

    • @GameTesterBootCamp
      @GameTesterBootCamp Год назад +1

      @@waynecanning4122 I didn't say that. In fact, I said the opposite. They are totally within their right to try and protect their IP, but they took it upon themselves to make that decision for EVERYONE who used the service. They didn't want to just restrict the piracy of THEIR music, they took it upon themselves to prevent ANYONE from distributing their music this way.
      This basically destroyed the idea of a small artist/band having a free and accessible way of distributing their music. Admittedly it sounds insane that anyone would be against them in this endeavor, but once you dig into the real impact of their actions (which they were VERY aware of) it makes them look really terrible.
