Hi! I hope this is the eyeshadow tutorial you've been looking for with lots of close-ups and detail. One thing I forgot to say is I'm only using Matte shadows for this basic everyday look. If you want to add a shimmer or satin finish it would go on the lower moveable lid. Have a great day! xo ~angie
Hi Angie, I am wondering if you can recommend something for me. I am 62,and have over active sweat glains in my head and makeup comes off all most as soon as I put it on. So I don't ware any no more than I have to.,i no longer ware eyeshadow at all. If you can help I appreciate your help. Thank you very much
OMG! You are heaven-sent! I'm 35 and my eyelids have started creasing. I watched all of the younger women put on eyeshadow, but I kept getting the issue with the darker shade starting to build up in the creasing! The way you showed how to apply the shadow on the movable lid is a game-changer! Also, I'm an RN, and the way you described the anatomy of shadow placement really helped!!
I'd love to see a cream eyeshadow Makeup 101 tutorial for mature eyes. I'm thinking of getting the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow Sticks and would love to see how you would use them. You're the best Angie!
Thank you for this series. RUclips need more people like you, eventually everybody it's going to have "mature" skin. And we need more representation in that department. I have learned a lot from you. I'm just turned 40 so I need every tip I can get for my changing skin 😊😉
Mariel, I agree about aging. I am 72 and use her brush down technique when I do my upper eye lid. Shadow goes on perfectly even . Her slow close up explanations are the best.
You are such an effective teacher. Thank you so much. As a girl who lived through the natural look of the seventies, I must say today's natural look is MUCH more flattering.
What moron would leave a thumbs down? This was awesome ! I'm 60 this year, and I'm shocked at how much my eyes have changed in the last 5ish years. This tutorial is priceless. I definitely would love to see more. Thank you so, so much for covering this. 💜💜💜
I have watched dozens of beginner how to eyeshadow videos. This one is the best. Most videos show the instructor applying the product. You see the technique but you have no application motion memory to guide you as you apply the product. This video is as close to an in person training session as you will get. She slowly shows you in close up how to apply the product. Knowing exactly how to apply the right color with the right pressure with the correct brush is what most of use beginners need. One tip I learned from a photographer is to take a selfi of your face when you have put on your eyeshadow. Looking at the picture will give you a better sense of how you will look to others. And you want to look good in pictures so you need to make sure you have enough product applied. I am not use to eyeshadow so I am a bit timid and tend to not apply enough. Looking at a picture gives me a reference to go by to judge if I need to go over an area and darken or lighten it.
I thought I was pretty good with makeup, but I learned some great tricks from you today. It turns out I was pretty good at doing makeup on my 20 years ago face! LOL! As a 53 year old, I really appreciate your descriptive terms, like “poofy”. Thank you for all you do to make getting older more fun!
no kidding, when I was in my 30s, I was an eyemakeup pro, blended in 3 colors at least on my eyes, and they looked great. Now, same colors just look muddy on my old eyes
I'm 47 and I never used make up besides lipstick and mascara so I'm really lost when it comes to eyeshadow foundation so this tutorial is something I was looking for it's perfect Thank you so much please keep showing more like this one to keep learning how to do the rest of our make up. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
im 48, and went through menopause AND weight loss. I havent worn makeup since ive had to start wearing a mask for covid. i pretty much gave up because im discouraged for a number of reasons. you, my friend, have restored my faith.
Thank for this Angie! I never ever get tired of tutorials (of any kind)....I am 63 with hooded eyes and all of the other fun that comes with being 63. It is really hard to find decent tutorials for people over 40. Anyway, thanks so much, keep 'em coming! Anne
Hi Angie - could you please do a video for mature beginners on eye liners- in the water line -and above the lashes? Also maybe mascara and how to apply and remove? Thank you so much you are so generous to do these for us older gals! ;-)
I agree! And I'm a long-time subscriber to Angie, but this was so in depth and super helpful. I'm really excited and feeling more confident to try these ideas!
I’m 71 and have crepey droopy eyelids. I have a lot of trouble with eyeshadow so I have switched to cream eyeshadow sticks and love the results. Would love to see you do a tutorial with cream eyeshadow sticks. Love your videos
Deplor AbleDixie I use Mac cream shadow in painterly as a base. I use Bobbi Brown cream sticks but I also use Ulta’s cream sticks. I have no creasing and it lasts all day. However I have dry skin, so creasing is not a big issue for me if I use a base.
@@dianaavitabile Thanks for bringing this up. I'm the same age and wondered if cream shadows would be a good fit for me too. I'd love for Angie to do a tutorial with cream shadows too.
Pat Mear the one thing I found was the higher end brands are easier to blend for me. I do try some of the drugstore cream sticks but find Mac and Bobbi Brown really blend well. Even through they cost more they are very pigmented and you use less.
I absolutely love your tutorials and your personality! You are so positive, and give great tips. I am one who is suddenly 60 and am trying to do everything possible to look my best. Thank you for helping me with that!
The BEST EVER simple eye tutorial.... You know how many times RUclips beauty gurus talk about things like "moveable lid" and I had no clue what they were talking about??? Lots of times! So thanx a bunch, Angie.
Great video!! I gave up on make up years ago and now returning I needed this eyelid instructions and products for older eyelids. I'm going to try again! Thanks!!
Thank you sooo much. The more detailed and the slower the explanation the better. I am so glad to have found you. I was getting frustrated with people that skip steps or hurry through the explanation. I am an "old beginner" who know nothing about makeup. Thank you for making tutorials for us.
Hi, Applying eye shadows can take a lot of extra time in the morning and you gave a good example on keeping it simple. It takes time to learn how to use the color palettes. Then there’s the lighting! Thanks so much Angie. ❤️❤️
Wow. Fantastic video. Thank you. At 62, I'm just needing some make-up now and don't know what I'm doing. You explain everything so well, have wonderful links, and answer all the questions that I've had over the years. Great channel - great presentation!
Loved this. Did my eyes today and felt so much better doing my eyes like you did. Thank you. Dealing with droopy lids here. And for anyone reading and who has been hesitating to try Angie's skin care routine, don't! My skin has never been happier and looking better.
Hi Angie I just wanted you to know how much I love your tutorials. I’m 58 and never really did anything to/for my skin. We share the rosy coloring and I appreciate your tips. Thanks for being brave and beautiful, to show us before and after. You are so patient ☺️ Looking forward to another tutorial! Malia
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I am new’ish to makeup at 49 y.o., and eyes are the last thing I am tackling...patting the shadow on...is..a..game changer! I have been a one-shadow person, but now...you have made me a two-shadow artist😂 Thanks, Angie!💜💜💜
Angie...I am from Spain and this video is amazing...you are amazing 💜 !!!!Thank you for carefully teaching everyone and for your dedication in each video. I love your videos and this is one of the best. Thanks again
Thank you for this back to basics video! I too grew up in the 70's and didn't do much makeup. It feels like overnight my eyes developed extra skin on the lids that shadow just wants to skip over, I'm going to use this brush move today. I just started using the colour science 3in1 a week ago, it really does make a difference.
Thank you Angie! This was soooooo helpful! I have watched so many eyeshadow tutorials since the Tati palette came out ( didn’t purchase) but the majority of the you tubers were so young and didn’t deal w the hooded eye and creepiness issues. This is EXACTLY what I needed! Have a restful weekend🥰💕❤️❤️❤️
I know there's an "updated" new version of this and I also reference it too, but I find myself re-watching this often. I sort of start getting back into my old habits, which simply don't work anymore. You are such a great teacher Angie!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was the best, most in depth tutorial I have found. I appreciate the basic 2 color, matte shadow approach. This was what I needed most, I can no longer look ok with a bare face and eyes, but I struggle to use make up in a way that enhances my almost 52 year old face. I love your skin care and make up reviews because you share some of the science and you do multiple day wear tests on a beautiful 50’s face rather than first impressions on 20 year old skin. Thank you again, I look forward to additional videos because even if I had learned to apply perfect makeup when young, adapting to a maturing face is a new experience.
Thanks for this series! I started wearing makeup regularly in my late 50s, having not worn any since the early 1980s. I find a little makeup makes my face look better. I've stayed away from eye shadow, as my eyes are an unusual shape (large lid, low eyebrow) and most "young woman" techniques don't work for me. I think this will ... off to experiment!
I recently found you on RUclips and want to say how very much I enjoy seeing your videos. You are so thorough and comprehensive when discussing different products while being very engaging. You inspire me to take better care of my skin and to be patient while waiting for results. Thank you for putting out these videos, I enjoy each and every one!
Thank you so much Angie! Like many other women I’m getting frustrated as my skin changes and eyelids have been changing. I love your videos and you are a wonderful teacher. So grateful for all your hard work and great explanations! I’ve started playing around with my makeup again and am getting wonderful results, thanks to you ❤️❤️
Just found your channel last evening and I’m so happy I did. Just as you said in the video, I grew up in the 70’s & 80’s and never dabbled in makeup. I followed your directions to the letter and found out something’s. I never noticed how loose and crepey my eyelids are. Keeping it simple with just the two shades as you suggested worked perfectly. I’m literally amazed with the results. Your step by step breakdown was exactly what I needed to see I’ve not been placing the color high enough on the hooded part of my eyelid. Once you explained that....💡. What a difference. Thank you and I’m planning a binge watch of your channel to catch up.
Thank you so so much, Angie, for this great detail tutorial. I just turned 51 years old today and Ive been having trouble with my eyeshadows ever since I started wearing makeup again about 2 years ago. This is extremely helpful for me and I cant thank you enough!!! Ive been subscribed to your channel for quite some time now and I love all your videos, especially your skin care videos. I received my very 1st bottle of The Timeless Vitamin C serum yesterday and used it this morning when I got ready for work. Im so excited about my skin for the 1st time in my life. THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!!
Excellent video with close ups to really visualize what you were doing Angie. As a 60+ viewer I find your videos extremely helpful. I just ordered numerous brushes based on your recommendations. Also from previous video you explained that you use a setting spray to dip your brush in prior to applying shadow used as an eye liner. I'm going to try that also. Great instructions. Thank you! Barbie
Best tip ever !! Pull down on the lighter color not across. Makes total sense! I have the issue of shadow hitting creases and not looking smooth .I never knew how To fox it.
I tried this method and was really happy with the results. I also tried the uplift thing with the liner and felt pretty put together. I curled my lashes before putting on my mascara and my sister thought I had put on my magnetic lashes. I am going to try some more of the videos, for sure!
You are a great teacher. I want to say that this is the best video - but I say that week after week. You are just the best and you are greatly appreciated. Classy, beautiful, and down-to-earth. Plus you can say the funniest things that we love!
Thank you so much Angie!! When I hit 40 & my skin, especially my eyelids, completely changed & techniques I had used my entire makeup wearing life suddenly didn't work anymore. I never thought of putting my eyeshadow on in a downward motion. You're a genius! I also didn't know what it was, but "double eyelid crease" describes it perfectly, thank you for addressing it & teaching me what to do with it, as well as the big upper eyelid section that's below my eyebrow. You've taught me so much over the last couple years, you're skincare videos have helped me look 43 instead of 103. This video is definitely one of my favorites. It was so incredibly helpful!! I've seen you use these techniques before, but you put it all together in this video and you explained why & how so well. Thank you!❤
Wow! Thank you so much! I've never been a makeup person but just started wanting to bring my eyes out more with masks, but I'm 40 and want natural. These mature tutorials where you really emphasize exact brush strokes are so incredibly helpful to those of us who have zero idea!!! The concealer video was amazing as well. THANK you!
I'm 60 and just trying to learn correct ❤️❤️way to wear my makeup. Thanks so much! 👍I just saved several of your playlist to my library to watch later. You are so specific and helpful. 👍❤️
Thank you, this is perfect. I find the close up extremely helpful. I wouldn't mind more close ups on other products you demonstrate. Please keep up the series. Thanks again!
I grew up in the 70’s, and I thought I was pretty good at my eyeshadow, but this really helped me! I was always doing the windshield motion! I’m going to do the downward motion now! Especially as my eyesight fails me. Ty! Great video!👍❤️
I've always done the windshield wiper motion on the crease too! A MAC SA showed me how to do that with a darker color in the crease and I never knew to do anything different.
I looked back for this because I just recently bought the Orgy palette with all the nudes. I fell in love with its mattes and colors for mature eyes. Thank you for your tutorial. Daph
The editing on your videos is SO good. You are precise, quick, always giving great tips along the way but not meandering...and the thorough product referencing below is fantastic. I can't imagine how much work this is but I so appreciate it! As a 50+ with hooded eyes, I didn't know how much I needed these videos and now I can't stop watching - you just get it! Thank you.
Thank you SO much for this! I just turned 43 and saw a picture of myself and thought on man I need to change the way I’m doing my makeup!! This was so helpful and perfect!
Great tutorial! You are so good at explaining steps & I've worn makeup since my teens & still learned something today....such as the "no windshield swipe", never thought about it not going on smooth but yep I get it. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this information. And thankyou for not being condescending and playing mind games with us - some RUclipsrs are running on their little formulas to pique our interest and it's irritating. Love all of the extra explanations/hints/tricks. Am new to this makeup world 🌷
WOW did I need this ! Thanks Angie. I have been watching your videos for 2 years now and never mastered eye shadow. I ran to my makeup mirror after watching this video and VIOLA ! First time I did my eyes correctly and I actually look better instead of drunk and sleepy.
Thanks Angie. Eyes are the only thing I struggle with when applying my makeup so I have a ton of eye shadow pallets that just sit there. Now I have a starting point :)
I got that notification there was a new video, and I stopped everything! I'm recovering from the flu and was about to go out make up-less, but you just inspired me to put a little something on! Thanks Angie, have a great day!
I love these kinds of videos. Although I've been wearing make-up and applying makeup to myself for 35+ yrs, it's always nice to take a step back and learn new techniques to ensure my makeup looks as good as it can. I've enjoyed watching your videos and learning great techniques and tricks to look my best. Lots of love to ya Angie, from southwestern Pennsylvania💜💜💜💜💜xoxo Laura Ann💜
Agree 100%! My eyeshadow skills have improved a lot over the years... I was a no makeup person before so I know that if I can master it, anyone can!! xo ~angie
Hi Angie, this is great! I am 57 and always struggle with my lid color looking patchy. I thought it was my primer. Now I think I can fix it. Thank you!
You have no idea how much I appreciate this video! I've been a very basic makeup kind of person. Eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, and lip gloss. But my skin has definitely changed and I had no idea how to do any of this. I had no idea about primers or the technique for putting on the eye shadow. So thank you for this 101 series! You made a difference for me and how to apply makeup. Thank you!!!
I know this is two years old and I am late to the party, but I love how you're slow to explain what you'll need, and why. I was never allowed to play with makeup as a child/teen and as a result, I don't even like putting it on because I think I look stupid. At least now, I have a fighting chance after watching this vid!!
This was a great tutorial for everyone.. even those of us who've been using eyeshadow for years. It seems like in just one day the hoods of my eyes dropped down on my eyelashes and I struggle to find the right shadow application. You gave us excellent information and demonstrated this technique so perfectly that I feel that I can finally get my eyeshadow on right. Thank you Angie! XXOO❤
Hi! I hope this is the eyeshadow tutorial you've been looking for with lots of close-ups and detail. One thing I forgot to say is I'm only using Matte shadows for this basic everyday look.
I love the details! No one ever breaks it down, thank you for explaining it all in depth. You are the best!
You are so right. I wore a little in my younger days. The way and the products that I used just wont work now. Loving your series.
This is the BEST video I've seen on this topic! I never would have thought of moving the brush in a downward motion, and I get skips! Thank you Angie!
Probably the best explanation video for mature eyeshadow I’ve seen! Thank you so much.
Your face is nice and clear, no blemishes. Make up tutorials are great, wish they had them when I was younger lol
I love how detailed you are in your videos. This was very helpful. Thank you!
Wow this just might be my favorite for eyeshadow tutorials! Very informative with explicit directions/reasons - ty!
OMG! Fantastic tutorial! I just turned 60 and have been trying to play with eyeshadow, which I have never worn. THANKS!
Such a good idea: 'mature beginners "!
Oh my goodness... your makeup is absolutely flawless !
What foundation, etc did you use ?
I am so glad I found your channel! This was so great, very appreciated
Very informative, I like the detail you give on your videos. Great presentation.
Thank you!❤
I'm so happy you liked the video and it helped with your eyeshadow! You don't look close to 103 in your pro pic much less 43! xo ~a.
@Karen Allen I have always done the same windshield swipe too! Never thought about it but definitely time to change up my technique!
Daph
Thank you for this series. It’s nice to have see videos on makeup rather than look books, Nordstrom’s and anti aging products and techniques.
So happy you like the Makeup 101 series!!
Awesome possum! You have the gift of explanation. So many don't see holes in their instruction and just end up frustrating the viewer. But not you!
You’re awesome! I’m almost 49 and this helped me. You’re the only person doing videos like this. Love you!
What a great and detailed tutorial. You are gifted in teaching. Thank you.
Thank you for such a simple expectation and explicit information. 66 here and "natural" everything was the order of the day in my high school years.
Thank you.
You really hit the nail on the head! Now I know why I’m having such a makeup problem! I did grow up in the 80s
This was a great tutorial. I love how you explained everything, and not a lot of brushes and products. Thx!
You are a wonderful inspiration and a fabulous teacher! So well explained and really helpful. Thank you Angie!
This was the best tutorial I have came across for mature skin!! Thank you!!
I still have to practice more to get my crease to look like yours & watching you go step by step was very helpful.
Hope you're back to 100% soon!
Thanks Angie! This is one of the best tutorials I have seen!!! Very informative! I’m definitely going to use these techniques!!!
I always love how your eye shadow looks compared to years ago. I know you’ve talked about it before. Glad you made a video about the way you do it
Agree 100%! My eyeshadow skills have improved a lot over the years... I was a no makeup person before so I know that if I can master it, anyone can!! xo ~angie
HotandFlashy you look fabulous
Yeah! Thanks so much! Glad I stumbled onto you videos. Subscribed! Thanks!
Hi Angie, this is great! I am 57 and always struggle with my lid color looking patchy. I thought it was my primer. Now I think I can fix it. Thank you!
Thank you. I learned more from this then any eye tutorial I have ever watched.
Great tutorial! About to go to a wedding and I NEEDED this!
Have a great time at the wedding!!
Love the 101 series Angie. Lol you do not go to slow for me at all. You are a patient teacher.
XXOO❤
