  • 16 Lives Lost in the Tragic Dam Disaster, In 1925 Llyn Eigiau Floods the village of Dolgarrog near Conwy
This was a sad moment in time when 16 people lost their lives, 7 of these were children that died when a massive dam 3/4 of a mile long broke after heavy rain full. The floods washed down into the Village of Dolgarrog after millions of gallons of water flowed down through the village 16 people were killed and bodies never found. I hope you can join me and remember for a moment...

I was there the other day for a walk up to the head of the cwm which is incredible in its scale and remoteness. I've also had my eye on that little tree in the island of marshland for years!
Also, and I hate to be 'that guy', Paul, but with such a tragic tale I really think you should have taken the time and effort to get the pronunciations correct. It's not difficult and there are people (like me) who would be more than willing to help you. You might not think it matters but it does, it really does.

I have always seen and felt within myself to be extra sensory perceptive. This place is very eerie indeed, I have been here only twice before as I live not a million miles away from it, but there is an energy here, some dark and upsetting feelings you get as you walk close to it and it just gives me the shivers. Cowlyd, Gerionned, Crafnant and Parc are completely the opposite, as is Coety. This place just ooozes eerie.😵‍💫. We used to live in 6 Croft Dolgarrog and my Dad used to work in the Aluminium works. So sad about the loss of life back in 1925. Bodgit and Scarper causes fatalities. However, great video and great drone and photography shots👍

Hi mate. Great set of shots and vlog. Water is a powerful force when there is a mass of flood water. One gallon of water weights 10 pounds. Sad that there was loss of life there

Oh dear. such a shame that someone felt the need to comment on your pronunciations in a public forum. This was a fitting tribute, both in your words, and reactions, to the tragedy that unfolded here all those years ago. The addition of the B&W footage was very touching. The fact that you brought this tragedy to the attention of so many viewers who otherwise did not know it had occurred is by far a more fitting tribute than any unintended mispronunciation of place names. Thank you for this video.

Interesting vlog Paul and the info at the start was a worthwhile addition. I think the breach in the Dam was at the point of the finished walls as that is where the river runs. The best shot was at 17.43 in, of Mrs. C, what a lovely photograph. I won't say a word about pronunciation looks like Mr. L has had a word already lol.

the breach was the first small hole mate i looked it up, the big part was where they took down so it would never re fill again

I hadn't heard of this disaster but it will stick with me through your vlog. Profit before people again. A place that I would really like to visit. The monumental size of the structure and the dire loss of life ... and the effect it had on you ... made for an engrossing vlog, which I would have watched if it was twice as long.
Much preferred the DSLR shots to the mobile edits.

A sombre story indeed Paul and one that I was not aware of. We obviously need reservoirs but nature has a way of always having the last word if the structures we create are inadequately built or poorly maintained. More recently consider Toddbrook Reservoir at Whaley Bridge where another disaster was narrowly averted. What utter devastation and loss of life would that have caused if the breach had actually happened? Not perhaps the best conditions for photography but I thought the Snapseed edited mobile phone shots were excellent 📷👍
