I’ve had remote control trolleys for 13 years, first a Robbokaddy and for the last 7 years a Stewart X9 follow and I have to say I wouldn’t buy a electric trolley without it being remote controlled. I have a rangefinder for accurate yardage to the pin and being able to send the trolley around the green to the next tee etc is such a bonus.
I’ve occasionally hired electric trolleys whilst visiting other clubs and found myself constantly adjusting the speed and missed the ability to direct the trolley onward to the next spot etc.
I just got a remote control trolley and highly recommend it. With the large buttons and intuitive control layout, I not only was driving it like a pro after just a few holes, but when I did direct it poorly, I was able to slow or stop it before it could crash into anything. I noted that one commenter above talked about a runaway. I don’t know about the motocaddy, but my MGI has a continuous heartbeat signal feature that stops the trolley if it gets beyond the range of the remote. Speaking of which, I was able to easily control the trolley at more than 100 yards away, and I can’t really see why I’d ever try to send it further on than that.
For me the clincher is that I don’t have to hunch over when going up and down hills. I am able to maintain a good walking posture all through the round if I don’t need to hold or steer the trolley. That is a real game changer for me.

It make me wonder why I'd select the non-remote-controlled trolley? Yes, it has GPS, which is nice. (But not necessary.) But having to hold the trolley, to me, defeats the purpose of an electronic trolley. I like the idea of walking free--like a touring pro with a caddy. The remote does that.
Also, I'd have to think there are trolleys out there with both features available.
Finally, I'd like to see a comparison that included a "follow" feature, where the trolley follows the player around the course.
I demoed these Trollys today. You can set the non remote one at a pace and walk near it and don’t necessarily have to be hanging onto it.
I have the M5 GPS and been using since mid June with the bag and I love it. All the info you need right in front of you. I rarely use my range finder anymore. I like keeping a trolley in front of me and not trusting a remote. Folds easy, great battery as my course 8 miles a loop. Highly recommend.

I just bought the Stewart Golf Q Follow and have used it twice so far.... doesn't have a GPS or anything but the follow feature is super nice just takes some getting used to and trusting that the trolley wont tip over on super steep slopes

I have a very old BagBoy Navigator2. One thing I like is that it will hold a straight line when I send it in front of me and won't deviate with the slope of the ground. I'm ready for a new one as this one is very heavy.
Heard rumors that a major trolley manufacturer is working on a AI-driven system with lidar sensors and a submeter GPS receiver. Autonomous driving and follow me functionality is achieved by connecting the system to the motor controls. In a ‘programming round' you can define parking postitions at each green and tee box and route safe paths around bunkers and hazards on the display. When playing an 'advance function’ drives the trolley to the next parking postition, so e.g. when hitting the green from 160 yards you could take out the putter and press advance and the trolley moves to the position beside or behind the green. From there to the next tee and so on. With the additional remote control one could still pause the autonomous driving when e.g. a playing partner hits his ball. Then just press continue and the trolley advances on its own. Of course one can always steer by hand in uncertain terrain. This is probably the future of electric trolleys.
I agree, there should be a trolley that does both. I actually got excited about the M5. But this summer I've been using the golfshot app with my Apple Watch (for distance and for scores). It is very convenient and can also be used when you might leave your trolley at home and carry the bag. And it even sends health data to apple health (steps etc.) for all those nerds. So I kind of changed sides an am now tending towards the m7 with the remote. It still is a hard one though. Let me know your thoughts on this.

I think I'd like one with follow or lead feature. Does the remote one you reviewed need to always be given instructions?
Bought the m7, fantastic machine. Hands in pockets walking down the fairway, and fantastic round greens and tee box. Steer as a normal trolley for paths and it is fantastic

I used to have the old S7 motor caddy (remote) and was just in the process of buying the M7. My order was taking its time (Covid) so I phoned motor caddy, apparently next year beginning of 2022 a new motor caddy M7 GPS is out so I’m waiting for that. Like in your clip I to have a gramin laser rangefinder with built in gps but only ever really use it when going to the flag, it would be so much easier to have a quick reference rather than pulling out the zapper which I love but just takes time. Loved your info but fill you missed just how small these now fold down compared for example the old S7.
What do you think of MGI Navigator Quad Electric Golf Cart and what would you rate as the top three with GPS and without GPS?

@@georgejung5429 this thing is awesome! Only downside is that it’s stil kinda big when folded. So you need a big trunk, but aside of that... it’s a 10 on the course!!

just used my new M5 gps dhc for the first time today and loved it! first time in 10 years ive not carried, and what a difference it makes. the trolley itself is fantastic, gps screen is top quality and waterproof, and when folded it is very compact. highly recommend! i paid £799 for mine, all websites were sold out bar one...affordablegolf! expensive but you get what you pay for - class
hi hope you well, I'm hoping to get electric trolley in near future as suffer bad arthritis and back problems, torn between M3 GPS dhc or the M5 gps dhc, how are you still finding the M5? thanks for any advice
The only question is remote vs non-remote. I really don’t get players who use lasers (old technology, cumbersome, time wasting etc) or buy a GPS on cart (costly, charge separately, something else to break, non transferable) when light and accurate gps golf watches (including Apple) are super easy to use. Adding complexity is just ensuring obsolescence; and what do you do if you travel, carry or use a cart (in North America many courses require a power cart).

@@GolfMonthly I think what Rohan means is a Trolley that is remote controlled and has GPS inbuilt. In some parts of the world (I'm in Australia) what you call a Trolley we call a Buggy and what you call a Buggy we call a Cart. Considering the M7 is $2,200aud you would think it would come with both options.
I'd drive a remote control buggy straight into my friends!

They just released a new one. M7 gps. Plus MGI is releasing 0ne soon with remote, gps, and geo fencing too
Had an M7 remote for 5 or so yrs. Best recommendation is that I would replace it with another were anything to happen to it. Never hit anyone or put it in the water, but I have put it in 2 bunkers. Speeds up play greatly by being able to move it to the best spot as you leave a green, help others look for balls etc. Easy to control and v responsive.
Hasnt it only been out a year? How did you get hold of it 5years ago?!

I want a m9 remote GPS trolley
The most major point you missed on the remote control trolley is that you can't use the remote mode with hedgehog (winter) wheels. Has to be manual. For many of us, we use trolleys for winter play because buggies must stick to the cart paths, whereas trolleys don't -- as long as you have winter wheels. (These stop grass-damaging trolley skids and thus courses often require them).
For me, this was a deal breaker. I was stuck between choosing the M5 GPS model Vs the remote...and will definitely pass on the remote.
Every video I've watched has shown the trolley folded up at one point to display it doesn't take up much space in the trunk. Some even show them being stowed, or taken out, which is great, but never have I seen a vid showing where the bag is. Would be interesting to see just one vid showing both the trolley and golf bag being stowed in a normal trunk (boot) size. Not a huge SUV, just a normal everyday size car trunk. I've watched a few golfers at the course with the electric trolley and usually one or the other goes in the back seat, not the trunk.
I have the M7 remote and it is awesome, very easy to use, very much recommended :)

@@weber_with1B Hi bud mad thing is if i use it without remote it does want to pull slightly to the right, but when I use remote it goes straight as a die hmmm lol
🤔 That’s one I haven’t heard before. I ordered one. Should be arriving today. After reading the manual, I’m confident I’ll be able to fine tune it to track straight if needed. Thanks Dave!

Maybe next year Motocaddy put gps and remote together.
Currently I use a Motocaddy Cube. From what I can see a motorised trolley just takes the effort out of pushing. Putting the gps and remote capabilities to one side, are there any other advantages to upgrading to a motorised trolley. Thanks

Pity you didn't tell the cost would save me looking up ,anyway I would have the remote one as I have had a Stewart golf remote for several years and though I wouldn't but another Stewart I would have the remote model you promoted the freedom they give is fantastic ,
I also have a Stewart trolley, I find it rips the tyres to bits on a regular basis and is bloody awkward to pickup and put in the boot of the car . I bought the bag which is also useless.. Try putting the trolley into the bag on the ground ..Impossible.. It works but I will sell it and get something else..

Cost depends on where you live; this is not solely a UK based channel. You’d likely search for best local prices and availability anyway, as they change over time. They omitted pricing on purpose.

I’ve had the m3 pro for a while now and had no issues. The m7 remote is what I would get next. Shame they didn’t put the gps features on the m7 though

I’d be interested in knowing what trolley will fit into a Porsche 911. They say an m5 will fit, but the m7 is slightly bigger when folded. 410 cm vs 420 cm; does anyone know?

@@weber_with1B yes major issues was sent in for repair twice as it broke down after 2nd breakdown I contacted seller and they got me a replacement ( brand new) as motocaddy were not budging saying they would only repair even though it wasn’t a year old at the time . The new one I got has not had any issues this far
@@jamto68 That's what worries me about the M7 model. I haven't heard of issues like the one you experienced with the MGI Navigator. I'm torn on which model to purchase. The manual of the M7 explains how to fine tune the steering if needed but the reviews of caddie failures worries me. Thanks!

What you actually need is a remote control GPS gold ball
I went for the m5 gps dhc and love it, very well made unit and the gps is awesome use on every hole, I have a bad back so it’s helped with carrying or pulling clubs around the course, also left me with more energy towards the back end of a game. Cant recommend one enough. Hope they improve on the card scoring facility on the buggy and app, needs more options and facilities to make it better rounded
Hi Andy, I’ve just ordered the M5 gps DHC, how do find the tyres compared to the standard ones? Some say they make the ride bumpy/noisy. Wish they made hedgehog wheels in grey finish rather than white. Might have to get some glider covers instead!

Yes, the Easilock base on the Motocaddy bags definitely helps to prevent the bag from twisting, which can be annoying! Joel
I have the GPS DHC. Yes the Easilock would be great, but not necessary I have 3 differeent bags and they all fit. There are elesticized straps top and bottom

M5 gps is not available in grey anymore, it’s back to the black frame and white wheels. I ordered mine on 10th August and it arrived last Friday just under 3 months. Basically I’ve got last years model with the gps at the same price . No option but to purchase, not even a sorry for the delay from motocaddy.
The remote control looks great, but I'd be worried more about tipping on side hills and awkward mounds. I play Bethpage Black and there's some spots where it's hard to go straight up a hill.
Hi Bob, lucky you! I have to say we didn't really experience this - even going up and down steep slopes in slightly damp conditions the tread on the wheels and the anti-tip rear wheel ensured it stayed upright. On severe sideslopes you might need to hold the handle, but these will be few and far between on most courses. Joel
It can be used in reverse but for steep hills just keep it at walking speed and help it up the slope by holding the handle.
Remote all day for me… I have a watch tells me all the same stuff as the m5 gps anyway

Yes you can use it without remote and change speeds on the handle bars
How waterproof are these including the screen?

Hi John. RRPs are £749 on the M5 GPS and £999 on the M7 Remote. Both are quite a lot of money but you're getting a lot of features and they last a long time. Value comes down to whether you would utilise all the features on offer.
Wow and now They are priced 899 how have older technology jumped up 150 quid in 6 months

GPS on those Motocaddy’s is useless. Most of the time it won’t find the course you’re on and the accuracy is not good. My mate uses the 2020 M5 GPS DHC and he doesn’t bother with the GPS as it seems to be all over the place with its measurements.
GPS watches or range finders are the way to go.
But those trolleys aimed at the people who buy into the “Gimmick market” of golf, the people who upgrade their driver every time a new model comes out, you know the type.
I am buying a trolley and it’ll most likely be the M1 DHC as it does everything you need.
Why can’t they make one with both?

He had his trolley running a bit to far ahead of himself and remote got out of range
He was running after it pressing the buttons
He did not get close enough and it went straight into a pond

More of an urban myth tbh. Remote trolleys stop when go out of range, not like manual trolleys which keep going until they hit or fall into something.

Here’s my take on the whole concept, although I own the M.G.I. AT This is the GREATEST golf device of ALL time wouldn’t trade it for the world. This way I get exercise with no bad side affects of pushing a cart, it can accommodate my bag FULL of weight and I’m NOT a slug ridding my fat ass in a cart. Game changer!!!!
