I show you how to pull one of these pumps apart and I show you why this particular pump is going on the bin.
What happens when the insides get wet.

Thanks for that! I was about to buy one! Seeing this, the build quality doesn't look like what it should be, specially when mixing water and electricity!

Are you in Australia? If so contact Nillumbik Pool & Spa Service and I can quote you on a Hayward pump.

I believe the issue is the mechanical seal. It seems to fail frequently so water goes in, destroys the bearings and in the worst case, goes in the motor as it did in your video.

My pool installer has stopped working with Davey because of quality concerns and poor after sales service. Said that he was spending too much time placating dissatisfied clients. He prefers spending that time installing pools with reliable pumps from Pentair or Hayward.

When I first started in the pool industry Davey were No1. Now that certainly isn’t the case. I agree on Hayward I have sold just Hayward pumps here in AUSTRALIA for the last four years. Nillumbik Pool & Spa Service

Yep - bought one that lasted 12mths as water got into it. Cheap crap. The previous AstraHurlcon - 12 years didn’t miss a beat.

Yes many of the big brands have sold out and are now very poor quality. I only use Hayward. They are good quality and last well. give me a call at Nillumbik Pool & Spa Service if you are chasing a pump. I instal them in Melbourne, and post them all over Australia and New Zealand.

Don't forget the bearings. Have to replace them almost every 2 years probably because salt water infiltrates the bearing and destroys it. Real bad design.
