Things I relied on before I got comfortable on camera:
>Do a readthrough aloud of your script or notes first
>Power stances! Standing in Wonder Woman mode for a minute or two before shooting (studies show 'power stances' relax you and can help your confidence)
>Warm up by singing. I like to pick an upbeat song I ENJOY singing, and one that makes me feel like a bit of a badass. I also like to sing along to something while I'm taking thumbnail photos.
I definitely do the first and third tips you mentioned. Listening to upbeat music definitely helps put me in a spritely mood, which translates on camera.
Editing is great too in the end. I still have a lot of "um's" and "so's" which I take out to help keep the flow. Practice, practice, eh? =)
Rachael Stephen I am excited to try the Wonder Woman pose lol
Oh I love these tips! Thank you for sharing them!
Rachael Stephen great tips! :)
Rachael Stephen THANK U SO MUCHHH
Just LOVED the tip of facing a picture of someone you are usually comfortable to to talk, putting it in front of the camera! Thank you :)
I watched this video back a few months ago before I started my channel. Now I am rewatching it after having made about 25 videos and picking up a couple hundred subscribers. And I still picked up some good tips that I'll be thinking about during my next video. Thanks!
I found that the best way is to just practice talking in front of the camera and allow yourself complete freedom to play and experiment without holding anything back. I see too many people trying to conform to some type of ideal or copy some "confident people". I believe a better approach is to embrace your unique personality and get in touch with your natural, authentic way of expressing yourself. This will give you a solid foundation for enjoying creating all future videos and keep developing skills that will grow you as a person in all areas of life, no matter how successful you channel becomes.
i feel conscious about my appearance while on videos lol
Dare Angel yessssss
Dare Angel i feel you 😆
Dare Angel no kidding me too
Dare Angel me too
There are a few components to reducing shyness at home . One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Seans Shy Program (check it out on google) it's the most useful blueprint that I have ever seen. look at all the interesting info .
It's weird, I know these things but whenever the camera turns on, I turn into an exaggerated version of myself. I hate that....I guess I feel like if I talked like myself that I would bore people to death. I get bored watching my videos. Creating good content is hard!
Brian's Kitchen 😂😂😂actually you are funny , so maybe you should consider to do a comedy Video
watched your fridge video it was very funny your style is so unique just keep it goin bro
Same!
@Off The Pie Charts I'm back now!
Its people man, just filter feedback. I use this trick, if close friends comment harsh on a video, then you did really good. If the person is nice, that's the sign to improve.
When I started my channel I just put myself in front of the camera. Period. It was weird in the beginning, but then it gets better and better and now I love it. Thanks for encouraging people.
1. Play => show video to family and friends
2. Personalize => visualize
3. Pace => keep calm
4. Excitement => show more interest in topic and smile its free
5. Pretend => take idea from other
6. Passion
6. Pressure => involve yourself in video
7. Practice
My biggest challenge with being on camera is having an authentic smile. But watching this video was a good reminder that I need to practice more.
I can absolutely agree with you, sometimes when I smile on camera I worry that it looks creepy and awkward. You're right about the practice, it's the only way we can improve in the long run.
Thanks! I used to be really selfconcious on camera, but now I can just be myself and it feels better and better :-) Mindful greetings, Vera from Simple Happy Zen
My biggest problem right now is saying “um” a lot 😩😩😩
Deon Reacts sameee
Omg same
Edits bro. I do it all the time too lol
Jump cuts is the solution
LOL same here!
I’ve just started vlogging, and it’s way more difficult than it looks lol. The main thing I learnt was to “be myself”. Not have too many expectations of how I look or sound or whether people will like me. Once I got to grips with that, I really enjoy it!
Practice..Practice..
Sunny dropping those major 🔑's!!
I made a video about this same topic but it was this video that originally helped me get to where I am now. Thank you Sunny!

Thanks so much for your video great tips for people starting out- I haven't quite come around to uploading videos yet but this video has motivated me to get started.
I really like your short videos and your style. I’m still working on my confidence and hate seeing myself on screen.
1. Play: play around on camera and watch it back and pay attention to what works and doesn’t work. Show it to friends and family for additional feedback
2. Personalize: practice talking in front of a picture of someone who you feel comfortable taking to.
Pace: slow down your words
3. Excitement: show how excited you are
4. Pretend: don’t copy, but think about what u like about ur favorite character or youtuber and see how you can incorporate it into your own videos
5. Passion: truly love what you are talking about
6. Pressure: remind your self that it is ok to make mistakes
7.Practice: just keep practicing! It helps!
bless your soul

Thank you for the tips!
wow, i love this tips . Thank you.
Sunny those are amazing tips for getting comfortable on camera! One of the things that I did, especially in the beginning, to get comfortable on camera was to pretend that I am sitting across from my best friend. We are having coffee and I am just sharing my passion with my best friend. I noticed that the videos became much more personal, that I wasn't talking to a whole Auditorium of people like a robot, like you mentioned in your video, but I was being a person that they could be connected to, could be related to, and I was honestly, truly trying to help my best friend with whatever the topic was to help them the most. So very similar to your idea of personalizing it by putting a picture of somebody that you relate to on your camera, I just visualize as if I was having a sit-down coffee with my best friend and telling them whatever it was that I was sharing with them to keep things personal and friendly. Hope that helps. big big hugs🤗💖🥰
sending you big love!
🤗💖

There was something satisfying about hitting the 100th thumbs up.
+Ivan Gartenhaus so satisfying! lol, thank you!
There was something satifying about hitting the 60th thumbs on your comment.
Great ideas for getting comfortable on camera. I had trouble with the smiling bit until a friend of mine--who is also doing RUclips video--said that one of his best photos was when he smiled "goofy". Now every time before beginning the shoot, I smile until I feel goofy, and than I start shooting. Thanks Sunny - Cheers Rick
Thank you and I will be using your tips in my next video.
Just starting out thank you for the tips!

thanks so much for making this!! ♡
Hi Sunny, I loved this video. I am just about to start out on RUclips but used to work as a local DJ and when doing hospital radio one tip I used was to place a teddy bear behind the mic and talk and joke with it, this helped give the impression for each person listening that I was talking just to them. I have tried to use a photo of someone but found that I was talking to that person only (the photo was of a girl I knew, well no surprise there then) and tended to talk to her but not all listeners were female so the bear worked a lot better for me.Keep up with these great vids as I like them so much.
I know this video is from a while ago but just wanted to thank you as you explained the process as real and as simple as it can be and i just crushed my first video thanks for reminding me to keep it simple and just be me which is what got me were i am today thanks again
