That was the part that sounded more like traditional cretan music from the whole gig... Although, if you haven't heard it before, it will seem like a crazy mix of things.
Really beautiful music! Beautiful Crete - Greek scales. Reminds me a bit of the Tarab Garnati, North African Music that originates from Andalusia (Granada - Garnati) The "real" one, not the Garnaty one hears on the radio so much. But it also seems to have many influences of Egyptian, and Arabic musical scales. These, to me, have very exotic honeylike, almost hypnotizing sounds... I hear that sometimes back in some Flamencoscales as well (eg: seguiryas). Dear peoples everywhere... How come music can be so entangled as brothers and sisters where the people that love play / listen to it, so often "must" fight and call each other names??? Greetings from sunny Amsterdam.
+1AvW1 yes coz many mediterranean countries copy greek music.that is the true greek music from ancient time.i mean the scale.the instrument are almost the same at all mediterranean
+minos matsas Very much indeed. The Flamenco scales are called Phrygian. Named after the ancient greek 'harmoniai. (Better not go to deep into matters) Only lately I discovered that a Flamencosong "Naci en Alamo" (From the movie Vengo) originally was a Greek song, slightly altered. Its name remained a mystery to me: even though I had (only some) ancient Greek at school, I was unable to read and understand its name. Maybe you (Minos Matsas) will recognise and know its origins?
Hmmm for this scale I dont know exacly I think its mix of greek and arabic.greece and middle east sharing some culture.this scale also can you find it at pulp fiction theme from agreek song called mirsilou
I though the exact same, I've been listening to alot of shamanic and pagan metal bands for a long time now and this would fit perfectly, excellent stuff
Jan Grochola hi Jan, this is a Kind of oud called „Lavta“ , only 3 pairs of strings and one bass string! I know about it only recently, this type of oud originates from Maroque, Algeria and Andalusia! I know it from an oudmaker in Berlin, Germany
Hello Jorg, thank you very much. Do you know how to start learning this kind of instrument? I am flamenco guitarist and expanding my interest in these instruments
Jan Grochola I guess this will be easy for you to learn, I taught myself to play the guitar, so with the lavta you just have one bass string and then three pairs of strings tuned in D-A-D, just learn by ear, let your musical knowledge flow, as the lavta is older then the guitar, even in Andalusia this type of lavta was played long before the guitar was developed ....
would like to know why this music is influencial..does it raise our frequency to heal...what kind of waves. Theta,Delta ? can you tell me a little history...Thank you. It is beautiful....music that I have not heard before.

Damn that feels so intense and heavy. Would not be suprised if some Metal Artist took inspiration from this.
These songs would fit perfectly in AC odyssey
Impossible not to like this
Fantastic music and performance ! Especially from 14:41 to 17:21 is extremely trans-cultural and fascinating! Thanks a lot...
There are many interesting Cretan musicians. Listen for example at Daulute, Hainides, Psarantonis or Skoulas.
That was the part that sounded more like traditional cretan music from the whole gig... Although, if you haven't heard it before, it will seem like a crazy mix of things.
The sweetest music... @ 17:40 ...
Only 3 and a half minutes in yet and I love it! As a metalhead I find soooo much that sounds familiar here :) Wonderful!

I'm wondering who made their instruments, any tips on that?
I don’t know exactly who because there are many instrument makers on Crete but yeah some instrument maker on Crete
Petrakis made that lyra on steroids. He calls her "lyrocello"
This has reset what I though Cretan music was. I used to think it was Death Metal.
Someone?? please tell me title of pieces from 0:20 and 14:40 🙏☺☺☺
