Thank you Ross! Your amazing influence has created waves of transformation the world over! It could be said, your true message is peace - you create peace through your knowledge and practice of your knowledge. You've left for us an endless legacy which the younger generation must pick up and embrace. This message is a lifeline for us all as humans - creating perspectives and potentials where there was none before. Once again, thank you! ❤
I also am an Irish who knows and loves everything Greek. I can't explain my obsession with all things Greek, except that it is 100% emotionally satisfaction.
Fell in love with Ross about 17yrs ago while living in Crete and was so shocked and proud to discover that he was Irish 💚 thank you for the music Ross Daly x
@@nedohamilli by now he is an amalgamation of many, for sure 😊 but at the time I was introduced to him, I was young and living in crete and it was a nice lil nod to home 💚
Exactly to the point. Very nice speech. The more we interact with neighbour cultures, the more we learn about our own culture (via the fact of historical cultural exchange and mutual influence) as individuals, and -collectively- the more chance there is that culture will further evolve.
The Musical idioms of the broader Islamic world are an extremely important part of the world of modal music. In fact they comprise the largest part of this tradition
brilliant talk. I am very interested to come to your educational centre in Crete. I have met Flora a previous student who is an amazing violinist and musician. thankyou.
Very interesting talk. Lots of useful information, well presented. But the sound quality in this video is very poor, and makes it hard to watch. But i perservered because it was so interesting.
Have loved your concept of a contemporary modal music. For someone like me, an american guitar player very far from all of these traditions, what would be a practicable 'way into' learning more about and possibly being able to play/compose contemporary modal music?
A nice point there: that we should also be proud of how much we absorb and learn from others and that overly defining our political boundaries inhibits this growth. It's a pity that there was so much noise interference from chatterboxes in the background.
+ΣΚΡΟΥΤΖ ΜΑΚ ΝΤΑΚ To be fair, the people making the background noise are in the immediately adjacent cafeteria and they are not actually aware of the fact that they are disrupting the talks. It was not an issue of indifference or rudeness, rather it was a miscalculation on the part of the organisers who probably weren’t aware of how much noise would be generated by those in the cafeteria. Add to this the fact that the room in which we spoke could only hold a small number of listeners so the majority of the people found themselves in the cafeteria by default.
Ross Daly Dear Ross, thank you very much for the clarification and the time you took to set things straight. I'm glad I was that wrong !! All the best and keep doing what you love. Your εργαστήριο is a gem for Crete and Greece.
.......hey......Ross your music is probably better known in Germany and Belgium than in either western China or Morocco. ......having a feel or feeling connected to music has nothing to do with nationality ...or .....did you not just say so..... .......
Music is always about culture and life in general. He's using modal music as a concrete reflection of the fertile cultural interaction between peoples and calls for a rethinking of 'communalism' as you call it in India. I am suspecting that you didn't fully understand the very literate nature of his language.

What is the background noise? Very bad recording quality 😮
He sounds like George Papandreou speaking English.
Ironically, the sound quality of this video sucks
Where is the music? It's only a talk!
