- Words have power-power to shape thoughts, trigger emotions, and influence behaviors. In her captivating talk, Gözde Çetiner explores the intricate dance between words and resonance, unveiling how language affects our perceptions and actions. Drawing inspiration from psychological concepts such as John Bargh's Ideomotor Effect (also known as the Florida Effect), she delves into how the subconscious mind responds to verbal cues and how these responses shape our daily lives.
Through engaging storytelling and practical insights, Çetiner will illustrate the neurological mechanisms behind speech, highlighting the roles of Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas in processing language. She will emphasize the profound impact of words on personal success and collective influence, quoting Atatürk’s timeless wisdom: “Victory belongs to those who say ‘Victory is mine.’ Success belongs to those who begin by saying ‘I will succeed’ and end by saying ‘I have succeeded.’”
Whether you're a leader, communicator, or someone striving for personal growth, "Sözle RezoDans" will inspire you to harness the power of language to create meaningful change in your life and the lives of those around you. Gözde Çetiner. Homo Ludens. The Playing Human.
She has been playing since the day she was born. She disciplined her “homo ludens” nature at the Theatre Acting Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Since stepping out of the schoolyard in 2007, she has worked as a contract actress at the Istanbul State Theatre and many private theatres. In 2013, with her performance as “Arkadina” in the play Chekhov Machine at the Istanbul State Theatre, she won the Best Supporting Actress of the Year award at the 17th Yapı Kredi and Afife Jale Theatre Awards. Apparently, playing with characters was not enough for her, so she started playing with words as well. She wrote a play called Ağ, Bağ, Kaplumbağa (Net, Bond, Tortoise), which earned her recognition as a playwright in 2023 when she received an award at the playwriting competition held by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Directorate General of State Theatres.
Since her conservatory years, she has been deeply concerned with the ancient bond between humans and others. Because of this, she ventured into the education and consultancy world while still at university. For years, she has been balancing acting and teaching in parallel. She has provided training in areas such as Diction, Oratory, Presentation Techniques, Storytelling, Written Communication, and Improvisation-Based Communication, producing content focused on effective expression.
Currently, Gözde Çetiner continues her journey as a trainer at İzgören Academy, passionately playing, telling stories, and writing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
