@Matt Beckley A false rape report is an automatic felony it ruins someone's reputation and it wasted the police time. The person can come back and sue the person for damages who made up false official statements about them if it makes them lose there job or keeps them from getting one there also on a watch list. The Police could have charged that guy who shoot himself in the hand with a misdemeanor for makeing up false official statements that wasted there time preventing them from responding to another emergency call is considered obstructure if there actually was 3 innocent Mexican's involved. He made up false official statements about it now becomes a felony if they get arrested and go to jail . They can sue him for the damages running there reputation and for every single day they had to sit in prison wich could possibly take up to a year for the case to appear in court.

@@Texasmilitarydepartmentvid9654 its can only be acted upon if the police then sign the official paperwork, if nothing is signed it cant be acted upon. ie the dude who shot himself can say whatever he wants, it only becomes an issue when the police or the DA act upon what he says with signed paperwork if it then is in fact a lie, its called perjury but its not perjury if they dont act or have nothing that is signed to back it up, or they have the signature and then they investigate and then it is found to be a lie, i dont think your aware of the first amendment
