I remember knife servers, you would spawn with 35 hp, but if you went and started drowning underwater, while still staying alive - your hp would regenerate back to 100. (if you did it a few times). Guess water heals!
You can actually use alternative keybinds in CS:S and CS:GO. You just have to manually bind the key using console. For example if a jump is bound to space you can write in the console "bind mwheelup +jump" and both space and mouse scroll will work.
I remember doing this a bunch in cs 1.6 at custom gamemodes with custom features. Like in zombiemod you could buy tripmines and place them via bind setlaser +v and take them back by bind dellaser +c. Also bunch of other commands i still remember by hearth, like joinig russian server and changing the language by writing in console "amx langmenu" think every server still runs the AMX mod X in cs1.6 as a baselayer for scripts to run on
In GoldSrc games, if you turn on flashlights, they acts like normal flashlight for the player using them in Firstperson, but from other players perspective (or thirdperson), they wont light up where the user is aiming at, but lights up the user character themselves, which will expose the flashlight users own position
True, early versions of Siege had a recolored APC from half-life that you could drive, and a compartment in the back for teammates to ride it. Players would use it to teamkill, either accidently or on purpose, and players could get stuck/killed in the back if the APC drove over an incline, so it was later patched out. If you look at pre-retail versions or the CD release of counter strike, the version with the APC is still present.

In thought you would mention custom graffiti feature. You could set up your own image as graffity and use on most servers. I saw some people using ct or tt model image like this to print on walls and they seem like a real model lol
Yeah, in Goldsrc custom sprays are actually an unintended feature of how the client sends the edited decal (created when you select a base image + color) to the server. Turns out the server never actually _checks_ if the sent image is a default spray or not, so by planting an edited tempdecal WAD you can get custom images of non-standard sizes and full color.
Looking these footages just take me back to a good time when i would look forward to summer time so i can go to my grandparent's house and hang out with bunch of my cousins and neighbor. We would play on the field all day and play Counter Strike, Roadrash all day long and grandmama would serve us cold lemonade and snacks. Man i miss those times.

I remember there was one official map that used a vehicle (basically an APC for CTs) but not its name. It was a cs map where hostages were held in some kind of underground base with half-life like asthetics. It involved a whole long way round through the sewers and a back door into the base. Guess that map was not very popular. It was very big and probably one of the only maps where the timer (that was by default 5 minutes in original) had any chance to actually run out before one team was dead or objective complete. Speaking of which - also whole game modes (as_ - where Ts need to assasinate a VIP who needs to get to safety and es_ which basically was a hide-and-seek game where Ts could not buy weapons, stay hidden and try to reach an escape zone while CTs had to find and eliminate all Ts before time is up)

If any of you remember the crazy tank map it got all the features from vehicles to stationary weapons to even airstrike, it was definitely one of the most memorable map
One thing to add with knifing. You can attack an enemy farther away by slashing, as opposed to stabbing. This is often used during knife fights while being chased. You can slash an enemy thats further away to keep them from getting close enough to you to stab. Theres also tons of movement based things to address is cs 1.6. For instance, running with a knife has a speed of 250 units. But, if you turn your mouse at angle, and tap left or right as youre running forward, you will go faster than 250 units. I can go on and on in regards to the quirks and movements of 1.6. Can be an entire video alone.
Pistols, grenades, submachines (except p90) allows you to run 250 units/s! But fun fact, Scout is the fastest with 260 units/s! Also you run slower with AK-47 than with M4A1 by 10 units/s.
Don't know if you mentioned this before but back in the early days if CS, you could plant the bomb anywhere but you would use if it wasn't on the bomb site. Also, weapons on the ground were saved to the next round. I used to run around saving weapons in a hiding spot for the next round.

There used to be a vehicle that was actually capable of driving on an official map at some point (might have been before 1.0): cs_siege Later on the vehicle was still there, but the driving functionality was gone. Best fun map ever was fun_rollercoaster :D

The APC was so buggy you ran the risk of spontaneously dying while inside the back. Strangely enough I don't remember any trolling with it to any large degree at least not intentionally. It was super clunky and awkward to drive so it was probably best that they removed it.

All of the weapons that share ammo can refill you reserve ammo when picked up from a dead player for example when you kill a who's carrying an scout with 60 bullets reserved while having 30 bullets reserved on your ak you could drop the ak to pick up the scout along with the 60 reserved to get a total of 90 bullet in reserved and then you could pick up your old ak with 90 bullets in reserve
Around the 4:00 minute mark you mention that no vehicles were included in any official map. That isn't entirely correct - cs_siege back in 1999/2000 actually had an APC that CT's could use. I'm not sure if and when it was removed.

As a fun note about func_vehicle, the recently Released Jabroni Brawl Episode 3 has readded that entity into the game and it works exactly the same it used to in CS still no func_vehicle in CSGO but im sure Nipper map fans (and nipper included) rejoice by their addition in Jabroni brawl.
I dunno if cs_siege was ever an official map, but there was a version where CT could drive an APC to the entrance of the terrorist compound. The vehicle beta was hilarious, so much bugginess.
Cs 1.6 isn't dead, it literally has 10.000 plus players playing it on steam, and that's only steam, the non steam version has even more players, I would suggest to get the warzone version of cs 1.6, the steam version only shows steam servers but the warzone one shows both steam and non steam servers, the server browser will be packed with full 32 player servers
I remember not seeing the weapon that was used to kill someone if it was a headshot. The game would always show a knife (or was it a bullet?) through the head no matter which weapon was used.
An assassination remake of siege (named as_siege_b7) made a good use of a vehicle. Cts spawn near a controlable apc while ts spawn where cts spawn on original siege. Escorting the VIP on this map is hella fun, defenitely recommend it.
Way back in the day you got an ammo menu and had to buy the right ammo. It wasn't separated info primary and secondary... This was way back in the betas I don't remember exactly when they added the primary/secondary system.

It would be fun to cover some old bugs that got patched out. There was a bug that let you drop an HE grenade and if anyone picked it up, it crashed the server. There was also a bug that let you have a riot shield and a primary weapon. And when you pulled out the primary the shields hitbox would still be hovering around you blocking shots. Good times.
the shield glitch still works, you have to be a T and pick up a riot shield, when the new round starts get someone to give you the bomb, hold the bomb and buy a rifle and you will have a invisible shield and beagle to use your primary weapon.
@@Hectik17 I also forgot to mention the T autosniper which I think got broken on the move to 1.6. The autosniper is completely accurate when noscoped, running, and in midair. It went from being worthless to being OP after the update from 1.5 to 1.6.
for the alternate keybind you could just bind different keys to the same action in console with the benefit of having an infinite amount of alternate keys
It's great quality on the video but I lose it when people don't state the obvious... Shift tab is a issue? Just change overlay bind to something else. It uses that bind to show people the overlay so we would use it more. Secondary bind is very possible by using bind command?
nice details actually, when talking about knife killing and it dealing a loot of damage, in modern cs (csgo) knifes only deal fatal damage (1hit to kill without armor) when youre behind a person. Or when you going hvh and there is a knife round and you dont press E-peek, you will get instantly killed by the enemy. But the second one is only for people who doing hvh.
Honestly i had to change shift+Tab to shift+F1 for the steam overlay i hit that button combo like all the time in shooter and didn’t want to change the score board in every game.
You missed the special voicelines the bots make which gives the single player games an odd cozy feeling and life to the bots besides some idiots following you around, at least how i remember it

maybe the devs thought 7.62 AK was same as NATO 7.62 rounds, but for a 1999 games I can see why this was happened

The Matrix Jump is one of my favorites, it's a pity it didn't make it into the video. Truly a goofiness of the bygone age of gaming.
On cs_wiocha (small map with hostages) it's also possible to turn lights off in hostage room near tt spawn.

While playing with bots you choose number of bots per team as well as which weapons bots are allowed to use.
U cant play with bots in 1.6 (unless you use mods)

Turning off lights still exists in CS:GO. Like for example in cs_fat_mansion you can turn off the lights to hide yourself at the windows.

If you plant a bomb inside of vehicle, you can actually drive around with it. :) I made vaz_2101 map with that in mind.

nice details actually, when talking about knife killing and it dealing a loot of damage,
in modern cs (csgo) knifes only deal fatal damage (1hit to kill without armor) when youre behind a person.
Or when you going hvh and there is a knife round and you dont press E-peek, you will get instantly killed by the enemy. But the second one is only for people who doing hvh.
Honestly i had to change shift+Tab to shift+F1 for the steam overlay i hit that button combo like all the time in shooter and didn’t want to change the score board in every game.
You can also turn off the steam overlay by going to the game properties

If you shoot the antenna in the van on cts side (you need 30 bullets) of assault you won't be able to use the cameras anymore
Knifing in the head wasn't in 1.6 per se, but individual servers did it... In the same way it's in today as well - certain servers have it
Shift + Escape is so much better for the steam overlay!
